This is the very first animated film to ever get a 4k DCP.

This just seems to be a rehash of the first one, based on the promos I've seen. If that's the case, then this is a rental at best.

Seggers

Sony XBR-85X900F, Oppo 203 UHD, Denon X6300H, Emotiva UPA5 (triggered), Wharfedale Pacific Evo 40s, CS, 10s, PC DX12 sub, Def Tech A60 Atmos tops, the internet and a Nvidia Shield. There's also a Wii, but we don't talk about that...

I saw this in Dolby Cinema tonight. It's absolutely gorgeous. Pixar's lighting keeps getting better and better. There's lots of wonderful HDR environments. And the Atmos has a lot of creative overhead activity. This being Pixar's first 4k DCP, I'm willing to bet that they actually rendered at full 4k scope because the textures are incredibly detailed.

As for the movie, it's lovely. I'm amazed that Pixar keeps finding plots for this series that seem to grow organically from the premise while continuing to give fulfilling character arcs. Plus, they continue to add new characters with fully developed arcs. Highly recommended.

Also, there are some mid-credits scenes. And while there isn't a full after-credits scene, there is an incredibly fun moment at the final Pixar logo that gives a little bit of closure to a minor moment left hanging in the movie proper.

I have all the movies on Blu-ray and was debating whether to pick this up on UHD but after hearing about the 4K DI and all the glowing reviews in regards to the picture quality I'm in...sounds like this is going to give HTTYD: Hidden World a run for its money as far as best looking 4K animated disc...I'm going with the Target exclusive...

Bought the BBY steel-book yesterday and watched it with my daughter last night (she's almost 4). She "didn't like it", but then wanted to watch it again today -- toddlers, lol.

I've found that as my daughter has gotten older (15) that the animated films hold much less interest than they used to with my wife and I. Sad really. I remember when all the kids from the street would want to watch them on the projector and feel the buttkicker. Six or more little kids crammed onto a sofa, giggling every time they felt it shake. Now those days are gone. Never really thought I'd see a time when a movie like this would just be a rental for me.

Watched this in 4k last night and the visuals were incredible. I’m not a fan of the first 2 of films to be honest, and i haven’t seen the 3rd - watched this because the gf wanted to see it - but this one was pretty good.

I'm a fan of Toy Stories 1-3 and own all three flicks. Although TS4 was IMO an entirely unnecessary movie that fell a bit shy of being as good as its precursors, it was well-written and full of both wonderful and amusing moments. The perfectly-creepy Benson dolls were definitely one of the highlights.

And there a bunch people over at Pixar who would tell you, that is what we like to hear.
