They should have just called it Super 9. Looks like Reitman Jr. ripping off J.J. Abrams ripping off Spielberg. Was he not aware that his father's movie was a comedy? I see no evidence of that in the trailer.

I don't disagree that the filming style is borrowing from those sources, but you could cut a trailer of the original that would differ in tone from the actual film. So I'll give it the benefit of the doubt until we get closer. We didn't see any of the original cast in here either and they're all signed on. So really hard to say what we end up with. For me it teased enough to be interesting.

Paul Rudd is a good fit but I've had enough nostalgia trips for one lifetime. Pass.

Will be interesting if they change genres (slightly or a lot) for the Ghostbusters sequel. Like Alien versus Aliens: one was a horror film with a standard haunted house plot while the other was an action film with typical platoon movie plot. I was glad they changed genres.

Is Stranger Goonie Busters a genre?

Kind of like how Ghostbusters was a good comedy but Ghostbusters II was a bad comedy? Is that what you mean?

Yes, I'm hoping for a change to the bad comedy genre.
