Night of the Comet (1984) Blu-ray , DVD , Free 1080p on VUDU app.

Night of the Comet is that rare movie that's effective as both a science-fiction movie and a parody of a science-fiction movie. I have always had a soft spot for 'Night of the Comet'. What really makes Night Of The Comet such a joy isn't the nostalgia rush it provides, but the two central characters. These girls just get on with it, dealing with the apocalypse with resourcefulness, crackerjack wit, and machine guns. 8/10

Appreciate hearing your take, Rob.

I will confess that I have trouble with some 80's movies. Maybe I was just a little too old and jaded by the time some of them came out. I hope you and others will continue to try to educate us on them though.

Lots of GIs and ex-GIs find Heinlein's jingoism tiresome. At least this retired GI does.

Verhoeven does not seem to have a problem with the army, being a army LT himself, made several war movie also before and after Starship Troopers. To him Heinleins book was extremist that is why he stopped reading after a few chapters.

Only have a 2k TV. But a remaster of all the original Trek films would not be a bad thing imo.

But it would also come with a Blu-Ray of The Directors Edition and someday your 2k set will need replacing, future proofing all around.

Just to make sure all the bases are covered...

Only plays on YouTube.

Hopefully CBS will make the first few episodes of "Picard" free so those of us without subs can also check it out. Looks like it could be fun.

In the olden days, all you needed was a pair of rabbit ears.

Starship Troopers: Invasion (2012) - Streamed free w/ads on Crackle

One of two animated direct-to-video followups to the 1997 Verhoeven movie about space soldiers battling giant bugs. Animation was decent for a lower budget production. But definitely on the gamier side, with alot of mocap. Rendering quality was not the best, and pretty dark, dingy and colorless for the most-part. And not that interesting to look at.

This is very skippable imo, unless you're really in the mood to watch animated soldiers battling big, poorly-rendered insects, and have nothing else better to watch.

I've been watching Star Wars Rebels the past week or so - a lot of it is somewhat disposable but they tie season one together rather nicely with a pretty great finale.

I was not a big fan of The Final Cut on Blu-ray either. I didn't like the cyan hue. My understanding is that the UHD includes other versions of the film though on Blu-ray.
