I was very impressed by Gods of Egypt. With Gerard Butler being a top notch villain. Critics destroyed the movie, Butler was nominated for a Golden Raspberry. I guess they just do not like improvisation on the theme Ancient Egypt and they do not like Gerard Butler.

Some critics just have it in for Alex Proyas. They hated 'Knowing' and some didn't get 'Dark City'. Raspberry awards in general are a bad joke that should have died years ago.

In terms of ones above, I'd agree on "A Good Year", which I actually re-watched just a bit back. "The Game" was quite good as well.

I watch a lot of smaller films, so almost all of them are underappreciated, else they wouldn't be small, generally speaking.

1. Another Earth
2. Assassination of a High School President
3. Celeste and Jesse Forever
4. Ashby
5. Kiss Kiss Bang Bang
6. The Salton Sea
7. Chef
8. Burnt
9. A Lot Like Love
10. The Way Way Back
11. Take This Waltz
12. Butter
13. The Sound of my Voice
14. Wonder Boys
15. An Unfinished Life
16. Eulogy
17. Shopgirl
18. 50/50
19. Foxfire
20. Lola Versus
21. Perfect Sense (by orders of magnitude)
22. Purple Violets
23. Seeking a Friend for the End of the World
24. The Descendants
25. Ellie Parker
26. Frank
27. Kicking and Screaming
28. Up in the Air
29. A Late Quartet
30. Barney's Way
31. Love Rosie
32. Stuck in Love
33. While We're Young

Many, many more.

Story aside, just the look of it (The Counselor 2013) is memorable. Ridley Scott brings his usual talented folk, in front and behind the camera.

Don't agree with most of your list but definitely Deep Cover. I think Big Trouble in Little China is a fun movie and it is recognized as such so not underrated.
I'm thinking of movies that are good but few saw them or heard of them.

Parting Glances
Winter's Bone
In Bruges
Once
V for Vendetta
Moon
Donny Darko
Manhunter
Truly Madly Deeply
Secrets and Lies
Topsy Turvy
The Last Wave
Breaker Morant
Flirting
Near Dark
What We Do In The Shadows
After Hours
Blood Simple
Videodrone
Ghost Dog: The Way of the Samurai
Sing Street
Begin Again
The Player
Backbeat
Dig!
Fly Away Home
Happy Accidents
Safety Not Guaranteed
Runaway Train
and others

Smilla's Sense of Snow (1997)

I always get sucked into this one, and can't put it down once it gets rollin. Great cast as well, which includes Julia Ormond, Gabrielle Byrne, Richard Harris, Robert Loggia, and Vanessa Redgrave in a small cameo. Sort of a slow burn. But one that still does a pretty good job of holding your attention.

Don't read the description of the movie before watching it, or you will spoil the plot. The genre is mystery/suspense. That is all you need to know.

A much better creature feature than it's generally given credit for, with some very solid visual effects. Great watch in HD, if you're into this kind of thing.

I think DD is pretty widely recognized and appreciated.
I don't think many saw DD at all in the theaters (it grossed 7.5 million in theater). It developed a cult following on dvd (grossing $10 million) but I don't think its been widely accepted as anything other than a cult film. However, people who love good movies (who to a degree make up the members of this forum -- except for the members who just like visuals and explosions) probably know this flim.

V for Vendetta is the most known of the films I listed (I believe). DD, along with Fly Away Home, were mildly received at best. While The Player was well received by critics and won a bunch of awards, it wasn't seen by many people.

The Man from Earth (2007)
This movie is all talk, but it's fascinating talk. Much more interesting than the more famous all-talk movie, My Dinner with Andre (1981). A popular college professor, in line for promotion, decides to leave instead. His friends hold a going-away party and ask why he's leaving. At first reluctantly, he tells them. They are shocked and for the rest of the movie they try to determine if what he says could possibly be true.

Any review or the DVD box itself would reveal the premise but it's more fun to watch this movie cold and be surprised along with the other characters. I do think the title is misleading. The movie takes place on Earth and everyone in it is from Earth.

Note: there is a sequel, The Man from Earth: Holocene (2017). It's not worth the bother.

11:14 (2003)
A smart movie about not-so-smart people doing foolish and bad things around 11:14 PM, often due to their misunderstanding of other things that have just happened. The movie follows one person or group during the time period, then rewinds and follows another. Each perspective explains more of what we've already seen but didn't fully understand. It's like a jigsaw puzzle that makes more sense as we fit the pieces together.

Seriously underrated film. it's freaking
hilarious and a joy to watch with a perfect cast.
So sad we didn't get a squeal. it's on NETFLIX right now.
it Definitely deserves a cold watch without viewing a trailer.

I might try it as I am a DD fan but any movie that has to go to Jeffrey Lyons to get a positive post review would normally be a no to me.

Terminator Salvation (2009)

Another in the sci-fi genre that I think might have gotten a bit short-changed, and possibly over-shadowed by other giant robot movies.
