Midsommar

Looks like a real mind bender.

In Theaters July 3, 2019.

Quote:
THIS SUMMER, LET THE FESTIVITIES BEGIN.

From writer/director Ari Aster (Hereditary) and starring Florence Pugh, Jack Reynor, William
Jackson Harper, and Will Poulter.

Looks good. Maybe they showed too much on the trailer though.

I think I'll wait for the home release for this one (like I did with Hereditary). I prefer to watch certain movies all alone and this seems like one of them.

Now that I've seen the film, 85% of what goes on isn't in the trailer.

Saw 'Midsommar' last night. Just like 'Hereditary', people are going to be split on this one. The old is it "horror or not" argument will be flying around the internet. My quick assessment of the film is it's a dark fantasy with horror elements, graphic at times, disturbing most of the time. While the director's approach and style are his own (Watch Hereditary towards the ending as a refresher where the director comes from) , the actual story resembles something Clive Barker might write. Imagine Barker seeing 'The Wicker Man' and thinking I could do so much more than that, and he did.

Most of crew here will want to check it out.

Hopefully not Nic Cage's The Wickerman.

The old one (1973), before Edward Woodward was The Equalizer ( Who could have had the pagans wiped out).

Watched this tonight. To quote the Grateful Dead, what a long strange trip. This was long, it was a trip and at times t'was strange. I will say Ari Aster knows how to tell a story. It was shot gorgeously down to the smallest details. It is long and moves slow. But it's worth a watch. Oh, and if anyone invites me to a 9 day festival in Sweden that only happens once every 90 years, remind me to punch 'em in the mouth.

Yeah, I thought this was very good. It got some criticisms for being a wicker man remake, but I found it more of an influence than a remake. This was basically a breakup/falling out of love tale with a horror element.

Weird movie, but good. I actually thought the slower pace helped the movie. This is a spaced out cult film, and they live life in a spaced out cult manner.

I found this one a bit disturbing actually. The lifestyle of these off the grid folks was very strange. And I must say,

Spoiler!

Just watched this - highly disturbing, but beautiful cinematography and worth seeing once.
