I think it's the dumbest concept ever. Both King Kong and Godzilla are good guys. They aren't monsters going sound killing and destroying things for fun. Why we want to see them fight each other makes absolutely no sense. I will not be seeing this.

Gozilla a good guy? He wasn't back in 1962 when they first fought.

Look, I wasn't around in 1962 but every old over dubbed movie I watched it was Godzilla saving dumb humans from other monsters even though it took them half the movie to realize that.
As I said I will not be watching this movie. I'm sure a lot will and like it but to me is a very dumb concept.

I do agree it's a very dumb concept since they're not giving us anything new. Just another money grab.

MAybe they will have a contrived reason to fight a la Batman v Superman, ie one or both are under the influence of something/someone (chemical/biological/electronic, etc).

WHatever.

FWIW I thought the Godzilla and KOng-Skull Island films were excellent updated, Americanized, scifi versions of classic Japanese monster pics of the 60's.

Haven't seen the current King of MOnsters yet.

Ooh I like this angle. Let's say they start off fighting each other but then join forces to fight a giant monster. If that's the premise, I'm in .

Going by the end credit sequence of Godzilla: King of Monsters, Godzilla vs. King Kong will have more to it than previously thought.

SHaweet-

Time for a 'zilla film fest in the HT with Godzilla 2014 + Kong-SI on 4K disc/ Atmos/DTSX to prep for the 4K disc release of Godzilla KoM at home!

Get yer classic Monster fan buds over- all we need is Gamera to show up

If you grew up around SE MIchigan in the 70's, kids were treated to Monster Week on local WXYZ ABC Ch7 every year, and Sir Graves Ghastley on local CBS CH2 would also run a Rodan or similar once in a while Saturday afternoons.

A whole week of Godzilla, Mothra, Gamera, etc around 4-6pm- had to beg Mom to turn TV cart around so I could see it at dinner table.

If animals could talk..
Godzilla: (In his best Vader impression).."What are you doing on MY island"
Kong: (Arnold like).."Your island ?..WRONG ! "

Are we going to find out Godzilla and Kongs moms have the same name?

Godzilla King of the Monsters was utter misanthropic garbage. Would be nice if this was better, but I'm not holding my breath.

Misanthropic? I mean the very first Godzilla movie was about nature taking revenge on mankind's folly. So yeah that's pretty much what the whole series is about.

Nowhere did the very first movie have ANY character saying anything REMOTELY like "the human race is a cancer that needs to be removed in order to restore 'balance' to the planet", which is precisely the attitude that was expressed in the most recent Godzilla movie. The original Godzilla movie was antiwar, which is hardly the same as being antihuman.

Did you miss the part where that character was the Villain?

She wasn't portrayed as "the" villain. She was portrayed as being "sincere".

As has every good villain in history... You are really grasping at straws here.

Okay? I don't even know what you are trying to say. Every villain believes he is doing the right thing. That's the whole point. Thanos killed half the universe literally because he thought it was for "the good of everyone". He gained absolutely nothing from it. Was The Avengers movie trying to tell us he was right?

The villain in GKOTM works with a terrorist and kills innocent people. Her husband, our protagonist, is working against her the entire movie. Then her own daughter turns against her until she finally realizes her mistake and helps to correct it. At no point does the movie say that it is a good idea to unleash monsters to destroy humanity.

Thanos wound up saying he wanted to destroy the universe completely. He's hardly a sympathetic character. The villain in GKOTM is portrayed as a touchy feely soccer mom. Not exactly the same thing.

Uhh, She was literally a scientist not a soccer mom. Clearly you are projecting your own personal issues here so have fun with that.
