Future of the MCU: Marvel's CC Announcements

In 2020 and 2021, Marvel's dropping a bunch of films and TV series. I believe there's more coming than what I posted. I guess the annual (2019) Comic-Con has an official site, but I posted what I gleaned from Marvel Studios FB postings. Loki (Tom Hiddleston) is getting his own series, as will Wanda & Vision (WandaVision). The new series will likely be only on Disney's upcoming streaming service.

Some of these I knew were coming, other are a surprise. Nothing yet concerning Guardians 3 or Black Panther 2.

I think if they come up with good stories they will be good. Supposedly the Black Widow movie happens after Civil War. No word on when the others take place. I am interested in the new Thor movie, if it is similar in tone to Ragnarok it will be great. And the new Dr. Strange, supposedly the first Marvel "horror" movie, could be good. And Blade I think could be fun.

Taika Waititi is directing. Based on that alone, I already assume I will love it as Ragnarok remains my favorite MCU movie.

Yes Ragnarok was outstanding. I don't know if it is my top MCU movie but it's darn close.

Thor was decent. Thor 2 was meh, though I want to rewatch both at some point. Ragnarok is a whole different beast. It's hilarious (IMO). It's got a great, modern yet retro soundtrack. It's got Thor fighting Hulk in a Romanesque arena, and the fight does not disappoint. It's got the greatest single use of Immigrant Song in a movie ever in what might be my favorites scene in any MCU movie (both pictured below). I mean, I am biased but definitely give it a watch.

I agree they're milking it a bit as far as the TV series go. I'll watch the new theatrical releases, but not interested in subscribing to Disney...

That scene is right up there with Thor's entrance with Stormbreaker in Infinity War. and yes one of the best uses of that song. On a totally side note, my brain got sidetracked by great use of song in film. The end of Devils Rejects, of your a horror fan has probably my favorite use of Free Bird in film.

One of my favorite movies, but the Kingsman scene just kills it, literally

What exactly are they "milking"?

All they are doing is putting out content just like they've done for the last decade.

And Black Widow is by far the most boring sounding out of all of these.

Spin off after spin off. Now a bunch of TV shows, if they are good that's great, but I am not getting my hopes up too high.
If they are anything like the tv show Shield. (hopefully not) then that would be a bummer.

Like I said above, I am not into the space/heavy sci fi marvel movies. Hence the attraction to Black Widow.

I still don't understand how this is "milking". One movie is a spin-off, Two are sequels, and Two are completely new.

"Milking it" would be if they kept making movies about the Avengers fighting Thanos over and over since that ended up being so popular. They are now putting out completely new and wacky characters like Shang Chi and the Eternals. That's the exact opposite of milking.

And they have only announced 5 TV shows on Disney which is still LESS than what they had on Netflix. And not even counting the 3 other ongoing shows on other platforms.

We see things differently, no big deal.

The way I see it, Disney aquires marvel and bleeds it dry until everyone is sick of it.

Not unlike they will do with Star Wars. Make movie after movie until the money stops flowing in. Even if they kill the franchise in the process.

That is literally impossible. Marvel has THOUSANDS of characters covering every genre imaginable. If audiences get tired of superheroes they can start making Marvel Comedies, or Marvel Horror, or Marvel Romance.

Well yeah that's what a *business* does. When you make a popular product you don't shut down production because you are worried that you are "milking" something. You sell as many of them as you can while the demand is there. And if the demand ends then you move on to something else.

So many people forget that the entertainment world is indeed a business. These are public companies whose job is to make the maximum profit for their shareholders. And you don't do that by spending $4 billion on a property and then just sticking it in your vault.

Glad you likes it, easily one of the best of ALL the marvel movies. Its up there with Guardians of the Galaxy, to me at least. But my hands down favorite part of Guardians was Drax.
