Took a closer look at the free w/ads offerings on Crackle, and there are some other movies that more or less fit the fantasy category.
There are several films that involve the subject of witchcraft, for example, including the 2005 comedy remake of Bewitched
with Nicole Kidman and Will Ferrell, The Covenant
, The Craft
, and The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones
was ok, and had a few fun cameos by other actors. I was a big fan of the original TV series when I was a kid though. And Liz Montgomery, Agnes Moorehead and Paul Lynde are pretty hard acts to follow.
I've watched the 2005 film a couple times though, because I enjoy both Nicole and Will. It was directed by rom-com legend Nora Ephron btw, who did When Harry Met Sally
, Sleepless in Seattle
, and several other noteworthy films. (R.I.P. Nora.)
was a bit of a yawner for me. But some of the youngsters might enjoy it. Alot of young hot dudes with powers, mostly aided by CG.
Haven't seen The Craft
in some time. So I don't remember it that well. I guess it's a bit like the flip side of The Covenant
though, since the ladies have the powers. (The posters even look like mirror images sort of.) These are both probably more in the fantasy/horror rather than straight fantasy genre.
I also tried to watch The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones
recently, but didn't make it all the way through. The story just wasn't that engaging to me. And there were too many characters, and too much action for me to really follow what all was going on. It might appeal to some younger viewers though who read the series of novels by Cassandra Clare on which it's based.
This movie is pretty squarely in the fantasy genre.
