RIP Neil Peart of Rush

Neil Peart, legendary drummer and lyricist for the group Rush, has been reported dead as of Tuesday, January 7th, of brain cancer at age 67.

Although I never personally met the man, I saw him perform as part of Rush some 15 times. His work, both as the band's drummer and its chief lyricist for most (if not all) of its songs, is relatively unparalleled. I will miss him deeply.

Sad day for sure. So now we have Bonham, Peart. and Ginger Baker up there banging it out. THEE TOP THREE in my humble opinion. Never saw Bonham or Ginger live. Rush, quite a few times. The Denon and amps are warming up now, RIP Mr. Neil Peart.

WTH?? This saddens me. He is one of my all-time favorite drummers, and ironically I had just added a few of their more recent albums to my collection and have been enjoying them thoroughly over the last several months.

...man, what a bummer this is.

RIP, Neil

Maybe to help lighten it up a bit.. If you love The Trailer Park Boys, then you know Rush was a part of some of the best episodes ever...

Sad news. I've been on a Rush kick lately, watching concert discs. He was on my top three list; Peart, Bonham, and Moon.

I had the good fortune of seeing Rush live quite a few times starting with the "Moving Pictures" tour. Neil will be greatly missed.

Sad news. Seen Rush a few times throughout the years. Always fantastic. There's a big hole in the rock world now. RIP, Mr. Peart.

An almost two hour documentary/technical film. I am no drummer, and don't even understand half the terms he uses, but this film is mesmerizing. Just his voice..they say he even spoke "in rhythm".

Eerily, Buddy Rich also passed from complications due to a brain tumor, aged 69. I think Neil playing the "Big Band" style is better than the rock style with Rush.

Of the three I've owned...
- Rush in Rio;
- R30: 30th Anniversary World Tour; and
- Time Machine 2011: Live in Cleveland,
...R30 is (IMO) easily the best of the bunch (and it's the only one I still own).

It looks good, sounds good, has a solid set-list and Geddy's voice is still in decent shape.

Try "Snakes and Arrows" too. It's been my "go to" when I need some Rush.
