Quest has been quiet most of the afternoon on KINC 15.5.

Tele-Antenna left KHDF 19.3 about two weeks ago, possibly when a contract expired. Since then, colorbars have filled the sub-channel. But this evening 19.3 is hosting a feed of COZI (in the wrong aspect ratio). The feed may not be a simulcast from KBLR 39.4 as there seems to be 10-15 seconds difference in the signal, with KHDF being the earlier version. The PSIP on 19.3 simply refers to KHDF, not COZI.

Looking at some channels around midnight, i notice that only 2.1 and 2.2 are showing. Quest on 15.5 is absent at the moment.

KHDF 19.3 has reverted to Tele-Antenna this morning. Last evening it aired a seemingly uncut movie, non-commercial, non ID'd. At the conclusion, a logo bug appeared in the upper left screen corner in English for Oracion. That service had been seen prior on Tele-Antenna movies. So, it's no surprise this morning that the Tele-Antenna logo bug is back in the upper right over Hispanic programming.

Getting Tele-Antenna restored last evening must have been a "we'll try this" approach. Just before 7:30 pm the sub-channel was transmitting a feed of COZI. That feed was running about 15 seconds earlier than the COZI feed on KBLR 39.4. That seemed to shoot down the thought that the KHDF feed was a simulcast of the same program as being aired by KBLR on their 39.4. While my back was turned, a episode of the Office, in English, switched over to Oracion, in Spanish.

All of the subs of 2 and 18 are in detention today. The transmitters of both stations, KPVT-2 and KHMP-18, are humming but not spitting out any programming on their usual sub-channels.

SHOP was returned to KVPX 28.2 after several weeks of absence.

KMCC 34.1 and 34.2 are missing yesterday afternoon and again today. That's probably just the Black Hills transmitter not picking up a signal from the Dolan Springs main transmitter.

Appears the 2's have returned. Minus 2.8 still. I have the 34's. Quest seems fine.

While KPVT has kept their sub-channels down to 7 the past several weeks, YouToo on their 2.3 has had terrible pixelation while most of the other subs are at least a little better. Sister station KHMP-18 has cut back this month on subs, with .1-4 and .8 being their ownly offerings. And two of those are simulcasts from KPVT-2 subs.

Someone win the lottery and buy these two stations and run them professionally, the way they were intended. Simply because they operate as LPTV does not mean sloppy tech issues should be their norm.

Include kgng 26.8. Quite a mix of programming, but movies that never finish, missing audio or distorted.

Thursday morning finds that KBLR-39 is shooting blanks. The transmitter is running, but the four subs are not sending out programming.

KBLR restored their subs around noon on Thursday.

KPVT 2.3 You2 went into a frozen state Friday afternoon, and remains there Saturday afternoon.

Perhaps it was our warm temps today, but KPVT 2.3 thawed out Monday noonish. Now if they would just pump up the volume.

Has anyone else noticed the wrong ID's on Action via KMCC 34.2. Last I checked, we don't normally receive Chattanooga stations, especially LPTV WOOT.

I surfed by Hot 31.4 at 9 pm tonight and was shocked to see Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure airing. Especially since everyday the same things repeat. At 11 pm an episode of Tate came on.

I flipped over to KPVT 2.3 last evening for my daily dose of Pawn Stars. The station displayed a frozen image of a logo for some infomercial product instead.

The same for Friday, but for a different product. Who's minding the store? I don't think there's anyone back there.

I've seen the application to move, and the FCC still lists it as "Pending". I haven't seen the CP grant yet.

On a related note, KVTE has requested a Silence STA, which was auto-granted. Although the contact e-mail is still that of Nathan Drage, the request was e-signed by Mark Nolte, Vice-President, rather than Nathan Drage, Manager. Significant? Drage is the one in hot water for legal issues that has jeopardized KVTE.

Nab, the National Association of Broadcasters, is in the midst of their annual Las Vegas confab. I'm hoping to hear reports of a new ATSC 3.0 digital converter. One has been available for several months, at least, for a hefty thousand bucks. Let's get them into production for a retail price of $25 for the viewers anxious to sample the new broadcast scheme. KSNV is broadcasting in ATSC 3.0 on their 4kw transmitter using rf channel 33.

Just curious, when you scan a current ATSC TV or converter box, will it recognize a 3.0 signal at all, or is it "invisible" to the tuner?

Yup. We've had ATSC 3.0 broadcasts in Phoenix for a year now, and an ATSC 1.0 receiver doesn't know they're there. Completely different modulation: OFDM in 3.0 vs. 8VSB in 1.0.

KMCC's Azteca and Action have thumbed their nose at Summerlin viewers for several days. No service whatsoever. Of course KPVT 2.3 remains frozen since last Thursday.

I was curious about an antenna I saw on the internet that simply plugs into the electrical outlet. I purchased it with the intention of giving it a try to see if the hype was accurate. It isn't. I normally receive 92 stations with my moderate outdoor antenna setup. This little gadget delivered a meager 14 stations. The lesson learned is to stay away from internet advertised antennas promising far more than what they are designed to deliver. The company offered a 30% refund, and I could keep it. No thanks. It goes back tomorrow for a full refund.

Unfrozen is KPVT 2.3 after 11 days. Frozen is KHMP 18.8. KMCC spent the weekend in Summerlin but then hightailed it out of the area leaving no service on their 34.1 and 34.2.

Court TV, the soon to be relaunched service from Katz, will begin ops on May 8th at 9 am ET. That should be at 6 am in Vegas on KTNV 13.4.

Congrats to KGNG for their launch of an audio only sub-channel for Infowars on their 26.10. The PSIP states NFOWARS. What I'm hearing, is not Infowars, but is an Asian feed.

KMCC has returned to Summerlin with Azteca on 34.1 and Action on 34.2.

KMCC is again missing in Summerlin.

On my little Sharp bedroom tv, KGNG has an additional sub-channel store to memory. It's that of 26.513. No programming seen or heard. It may be a residual effect of 26.10.

KTNV has turned on the lights of their 13.4 sub-channel. It has a PSIP that reads "COURT". but is currently offering a simulcast of GRIT from their 13.3. It's possible that COURT TV will provide a teaser demo loop prior to the May 8th launch.

Speaking of KTNV...something is REALLY f'ed up at the station; they have had NO graphics overlays OR story transition graphics whatsoever, on any newscasts, for the past 2 days...but they still play the transition audio when they cut to another scene/story - very weird! (their usual weather graphics seem to be normal, though)

It's possible that KTNV is getting a new graphics package and it isn't ready for a premier.

Four full powered stations in Vegas need to add a sub-channel. KLAS-8 has stated in the past that 3 was their limit, and KLVX-10 stated they didn't have the capacity for more. KVVU-5 never commented to me on the potential for a fourth sub, nor has KMCC-34. But all three of these stations could possibly add another sub given the newer equipment out there to produce a great picture.

Las Vegas deserves Worldview, First Nation Experience, and others. It's feasible to guess that GET TV and perhaps even LIGHT TV could be lured away from low-powered KGNG-26 in the near future. And, there's always the speculation that another major network could be announced at almost any given time to be snapped up by those with room for it.

All of these subs proudly showing colorbars or blank screens are losing revenue by not placing something, almost anything, in those spots. Fill up the dial, and the viewers will decide if it's worth viewing.
