K51IO, or if you prefer, K47OC Las Vegas, or if your prefer, Searchlight/Laughlin/Bullhead City has applied for a CP to move to rf channel 12. They will operate at 3kw. When, or if, the move to Vegas is complete, that station may require you to have a VHF-hi antenna for reception of the Lucken network of TUFF.

Maybe...but I've NEVER heard of a station that then just TOTALLY shuts down ALL the old on-screen graphics, & to then have absolutely NONE!

Court TV just sent me a note that they will provide affiliates with a pre-launch demo loop or feed. That should probably be about a week from now, as the new network launches May 8th at 6am local time here.

OTA news is needed on a national level, not just from locat stations. News Net launched early this year but has yet to secure a Vegas affiliate. CBN, the 700 Club people, also began a news network, but has less than 25 affiliates nationwide. Now comes word that Black News Network will launch this Fall. Will they grab a slice of the Vegas OTA pie?

Are you still getting The Action Channel on KMCC 34.2? My local affiliate dumped The Action Channel on May 1 in favor of Spanish-language infomercial programming, but didn't dump RetroTV or Rev'n, so I was wondering if the local station stopped carrying it, or if Luken stopped providing it.

Action still seems to be on KMCC 34.2, but I only get KMCC a couple of days a week. I'll know for sure the next time the desert tide washes the KMCC signal into Summerlin neighborhoods.

Court TV has begun stunting on some of their affiliates. That means a demo loop or something similar. But that has not yet happened in Vegas in KTNV 13.4.

No sign of the Court TV hype yesterday on KTNV 13.4, as is airing in some other markets. But we did catch a seven minute switch on 13.4 from GRIT to BOUNCE and then back to GRIT. "Anywho' COURT TV is supposed to launch Wednesday morning at 6 am PT on KTNV 13.4, with or without the advance hype or demo loop shouting the virtues of the network.

Elsewhere, KMCC has been mostly miss rather than hit in Summerlin this week. But I did see a few minutes of ACTION on their 34.2 before the tide eased back into the desert.

The Country Network on KLSV 50.1 has had a rough week. The network trouble graphic has been seen more than regular programming.

Pahrump KPVM stated they would moved transmitter sites this Spring, which is rapidly speeding to a close. I hear that one local telecaster wants KPVM to move to Arden Peak instead. But that would certainly prevent the signal from reaching Pahrump. And that's something that the licensed site will provide; with part of the signal heading westward to Pahrump while a large lobe heads eastward to much of the Vegas Valley.

K47OC, the former K51IO, is intending to put their stick in the ground down near Primm. Why? Is there sufficent reach from there to get to the intended viewers in Vegas?

Nope. Don't expect to see any signal on channel 12 down around Primm. The site is only a placeholder, as the FCC allows minor change applications for moves of 30 miles or less. The requested site is less than 30 miles from the current phantom Searchlight site, but more importantly, it's also less than 30 miles from the Black Mountain sites, which is where that station will eventually go.

Perhaps Scripps oughtta send their broadcast engineers to Phoenix and teach them how to do it here. Here, they messed up the aspect ratios for Antenna TV and Laff. Laff is a mess.

Checking the condition Friday morning of the Comet patient on KHSV 21.3 finds that the sub-channel has been pulled. A rescan doesn't help to restore the sub-channel. Is this something sinister at work, or just an equipment failure and awaiting parts from the Far East?

Changing stations? Isn't 21.x controlled by Sinclair? and so is Comet?

from Comets website:

"© 2019 SINCLAIR BROADCAST GROUP"

and it still lists 21.3 if you search our zipcodes.

Comet also sent me the 'changing stations' message. Perhaps they are headed to KVCW 33.5. We'll see when it's done. Yes, both KHSV 21's and Comet are under the Sinclair thumb. But so is KVCW-33 and KSNV-3. If for some reason they moved to a non-Sinclair station, I'd put money on KLAS 8.4. That's a long shot however.

I do not expect the 21.3 sub-channel to remain dark for too long. Perhaps a Fall 2019 launch of something new from the programming wizards at Sinclair. Perhaps something from the YES sport network. Something, perhaps, from the Tennis Channel. Or maybe a TBD2. Maybe Kids Click Again.

Maybe, just maybe, Sinclair will announce the change of Comet with great hoopla late next week. They have such a fantastic PR department with a huge staff, who are busy preparing attacks on liberals. Networks seem to switch affiliates on the first or 15th of the month.

Larry Hunt, of KGNG, was been in contact with MGM, and they state that Sinclair is moving Comet to another Sinclair Vegas station. That means either KSNV-3 or KVCW-33 will land the diginet. But does that mean that either station will simply add a new sub-channel or will they drop a current service? We may find out tomorrow.......or not.

Place your bets. I go with 3.2. 3.4 or 33.3 . Both 3 and 33 already have 3 sub-channels, so adding another is unlikely.

Neither do I gamble, but I'm betting that THIS is safe from cuts. TBD on 33.3 may not be safe. Even though it's a Sinclair top notch diginet, it's easily replaced by something with more viewers and a larger revenue stream. And I'm not certain that KVCW couldn't add a dot 5 sub. Even KSNV could add a 3.5, but I don't think that will happen until after implementation of ATSC 3.0. KSNV 3.2 could be relocated to another station in town, even a LPTV operator, without losing that many viewers. Sinclair may cut Stadium on 3.4 as it's a duplication of KINC 15.3.

Watch Sinclair prove us all wrong.

Around 11:30 am this Monday morning I noticed that Estrella was missing from 3.2 on KSNV. It had been there earlier in the day. Is this to make room for Comet? And if so, would Estrella move to KMCC 34.3 or KELV 27.2? I'm waiting to hear back from Estrella concerning their absence on KSNV. I need my weekday fix of LOL at 6 pm.

Yes, Estrella came back up after a couple of downtime hours with no explanation.

I got an early evening reply from KHSV to a message, and they stated they are working to secure a replacement for 21.3 programming, and they do not know where Comet will land in Vegas.
