There was a huge band opening for 24 hours which was causing co-channel interference from adjacent markets.
Back in the analog days co-channel merely caused a distorted picture with both signals still visible.
Today it causes total loss of local stations till
the offending signal weakens.

Happy new year to everyone.

01-01-2020 for last few hours, WOSC 61.3 BUZZR is off air again. And I checked Buzzr website, their web feed is working fine.

It is crazy how many problems WOSC has. Their other channels are working this morning, but 61.3 Buzzr is dead today.

Earlier this week, 61.6 (Decades) had a annoying crackling noise on it's audio feed, that wasn't occurring on it's other channels. Lasted for a couple days, but was back to normal yesterday. They do seem to have a wide variety of technical glitches.

Looks like WBYD-CD has completed their move to 15kw and to their new tower in Monroeville, as I am now receiving RF 19.

From the map at the FCC website, and who the owners are, it appears to be the same tower WBOA was using prior to it going dark.

Both WOSC and WPTG went off but both returned a few minutes later. Pretty much a recurring theme with these stations.

From what I've read and seen on YouTube, Sinclair Broadcast Group is spearheading 3.0 in their markets and they said to expect 3.0 to launch in Pittsburgh sometime in the year 2020.

Sinclair Broadcast Group owns WPGH-53 and WPNT-22.

It will be interesting to see if the other OTA stations in Pittsburgh jump on this bandwagon right away or take a wait-and-watch approach.

Very curious myself since I am starting to get close to pull the trigger on a new TV, was leaning towards a new 77A9G but found a good deal on a used 75Z9D. Seeing that neither would have the tuner built in and that the new models from CES don't have major improvements on those 2 TV's makes me think they will drop something major with the PS5. But makes me lean towards getting the Z9D even more and just buying a 3.0 box when they come out.

There is some CNET info on it all, you probably know it all but may help some others. When I tried to attach it said I was not allowed so you would have to search for it

I noticed yesterday I am receiving what I think is WPTG-CD.

I don't see this channel listed anywhere on the internet.

Physical channel "29" shows display channel "45"

45-1 This TV
45-2 Get TV
45-3 Retroplex
45-4 Newsnet
45-5 Justice
45-6 Heartland

All 480P. No HD.

I live in Washington, PA.

Is this a satellite of WPTG Pittsburgh, too new to be listed on sites like RabbitEars, etc.?

Are you still receiving it?

The clowns at WOSC are down again tonight, all channels & subchannels.

They should upgrade to Mickey Mouse as their engineer. Can't be a downgrade.

Has everybody lost Heroes & Icons on WPCW 19-2? It's been out since at least last night, just a black screen. The other WPCW subchannels are there.

It is possible the contract lapsed.
H&I is now on low power WTOO 50.1 (RF 22), licensed to Bolivar in Westmoreland County and transmitting from the WJAC tower farm on Laurel Mountain.

The problem is that diginets like H&I are low on a typical TV station's priority list. If there is a technical problem with these type of subchannels, the powers that be aren't going to drop everything right away to get it fixed. I hope your H&I affiliate is at least presenting its programming in the correct aspect ratio. My Decades affiliate crops all the old shows it broadcasts, which makes me not want to watch.

WNPB from Morgantown

I haven't been able to receive WNPB from Morgantown WV for a few weeks now.

Their tower is about 15 miles from where I live. It was always the
strongest signal on my ota tuner card. I have tried rescanning for the signal to no success. Have they been off the air or moved to another tower location? Or have they lowered the signal power recently?

I hate to lose this source of PBS, since I lost WQED years back when they lowered their power......

It appears they are in the process of changing from RF 33 to 34. The new antenna is on the same tower, so they show Special Temporary Authority for reduced power while that work happens. Once completed, it appears WNPB will have considerably higher power than before.

It appears WNPB is finished with their repack. They've applied for their license and filed their last transition report. They were an upstream station to me so I've been following them.

I'm getting 53 channels at my location, so 59 sounds great.

Strong signals from new location

Bottom line, I'll be moving closer to Pittsburgh, where the Pittsburgh OTA signals are very strong. But I'm interested in the weaker channels that show up in my TVFool report. My strongest signal is WPCB at 76 NM, next strongest is KDKA at 63 NM. The question is, is the CM-7776 16 dB preamp too much gain for those strong signals? I'm sure my cable run will be minimum 50 feet (not started this project yet, just doing the math and research).
Pittsburgh OTA transmitters are within 16 miles, but I have interest in WFMJ, WNEO, and WTRF etc.
TVFool report added (location is Trafford)
Thanks in advance.
