KCPO back again

KCPO is back on the air for its brief annual appearance. Three channels on RF 26: KCPO, RetroTV, and BizTV.

KCPO must be broadcasting at even lower power than usual as I just scanned and they didn't come in. I receive all Sioux Falls and most Sioux City stations.

On another note ... I was told a Sikorsky Skycrane was working on KDLT's Rowena tower earlier in the week. That would have been something to see.

And, as a tennis fan, I'm always impressed KDLT airs the live east coast feed of the French Open for the Thursday and Friday semi-finals. I was somewhat apprehensive this year as I feared that might change with the Gray acquisition. Perhaps it's not fully gone through or Gray hasn't interfered, but I was pleased to see the live feed. Unfortunately, the schedule was changed due to Wednesday's rain so little live falls in the broadcast window, but that's not NBC's or KDLT's fault.

KDLT reception

Are others having KDLT reception problems. They worked on their tower last week and reception since has been quite poor. I'm tempted to write KDLT but thought I should check with others first.

KCPO still going

KCPO has been on the air for 30 days now. RF 26: KCPO, Youtoo America, and RetroTV. There is no PSIP or EPG, but the signal has been pretty good.

KWSD is again "broadcasting"

I noticed last night KWSD is broadcasting. Why I don't know; I assume it's only to continue their license. They still lack an EPG but don't interfere with my scan.

KWSD has been on the air since July 16. It is Shepherd's Chapel all the time.

KCPO started on June 6 and is still going strong.

In addition to the "Shepherd's Chapel" it carries old nature programming such as "Wild America". Also aired are old celebrity interviews, children's educational and such. Bottom line, nothing new and significant repetition.

Well, The merger of KSFY and KDLT is complete.
They began Dakota News Now broadcasting this morning.
I wonder how long, if ever, it will take to get ABC broadcasting Via OTA in the Aberdeen area again.

Perhaps I misremembered.

Northpine has a great write up about the changes
http://www.northpine.com/blog/2020/0...-falls-merger/

They also mention the availability
Additionally, Gray is adding a state capitol news bureau in Pierre to serve its Sioux Falls and Rapid City stations and making the ABC and NBC channels more widely available in rural areas of the Sioux Falls market through simulcasts on the two stations’ transmitter networks.

If you look on KSFY/Dakota News Now website menu there's a link to Circle TV Network. Wonder if that is the new station that was mentioned in one of the merger article. Also wonder if the resolutions for ABC/CW/MeTV are going to be at 720p and lower when they are added to the existing KDLT translators.

I spoke with the chief engineer yesterday.
I asked about the audio issues with KDLT. (No center channel audio). He said they are having issues and are using a patch cord. Should be fixed soon.
He said that He hoped that they would have KSFY up and running on the current KDLT tower in Feburary.

Perhaps I misremembered.

Perhaps I misremembered.

Any idea which transmitter it's coming from? Are they HD or SD?

No idea on the transmitter. 13.1 is clearly HD. Not sure about the other ones. I am viewing via DIRECTV with an Am21 off air receiver and DIRECTV no longer has native mode so my TV always shows 1080i.

Perhaps I misremembered.

I can confirm at least in Watertown running from the K28OE-D tower that KDLT is running at 1080, KSFY is running at 720, Antenna TV, CW, and Cozi are running at 480. Also worth mentioning that K28OE use to broadcast KDLT on 46.1 and after my scan today they moved to KDLV on 5.1

Interesting. I wonder if they've installed new encoding gear for KDLV and are now mirroring that signal across the eastern 2/3 of the state. Can anyone see KDLV?

Also, Cozi? Did you mean MeTV or have I missed something?

Yes MeTV. Sorry about the confusion. Cozi is still apart of KTTW.

KTTW Cozi/7.3 EPG

I was pleased to see KTTW is now broadcasting an EPG for 7.3/Cozi. They broadcast none for years even though I believe the FCC requires it. That was disappointing but I'm glad they're broadcasting one now.

So how long do you think before KTTW gets sold to a national company?

I've no guess for how long but could certainly see it happening. I wasn't thrilled about the KSFY/KDLT merger but it's a trend. I read KDLT was losing money and they a are businesses. I was especially disappointed they moved NBC nightly news to 6:00.
