I mentioned Cozi needs to be "squished" now like NewsNet, Rev'n, and LaTV, to which he didn't acknowledge. I also asked him if he did anything with the power, and all he said was "My engineer tweaked our settings." Without a power increase, all I could fathom was the beam tilt was reduced? Someone with technical expertise maybe can chime in and tell me what you think, and/or test your signal and see if anything is noticeably different?

Yes, I've spoken to Dan before as well. He's usually quite inquisitive as to who his viewers are. And I think his half answers are because he doesn't know the answer.

It's not reception related...but I wish he'd "tweak" the settings for Retro, which cause 2.5 mins of local ads to run at the beginning of every program! The same thing used to happen on COZI as well, but I reported it TO COZI and they made sure he fixed it!

Can we report to Cozi that we want WYBN to either squish their 16:9 feed into 4:3 or change the setting to proper 16:9?

That might be worth a try. They were quite responsive about the local ad issue. For myself though, I'd sacrifice a bit of screen space over having local ads intrude into a portion of the program. One thing is for sure....talking to Dan about it is like whistling into the wind.

I sent an email to Cozi, we'll see if anything comes of it. :-)

My reception of WYBN will be on hiatus until they move to 26 :-(. I guess this last week I was able to get it because WPTZ must have been at reduced power while WCAX was installing their new transmitter. This afternoon I lost WYBN and hooked up my north east facing antenna and sure enough it pulled in WPTZ and the new WCAX signal on RF20. Wish they could move sooner, I was enjoying having WYBN a lot.

Dan Viles emailed me and said "not until Spring", that's the most I know right now.

At least, luckily, Buzzr is on PlutoTV (free app on Roku, FireTV, etc), and if you have Dish Network, channel 245. I can get both those options too, but I preferred having it OTA so it is integrated on my tuner on all TV's in the house, and for TiVo.

Is there any information on the WCWN and WNYT translators changing to their new frequencies?

All the WCWN translators are off the air, however tomorrow WCAX is turning off RF22 so maybe they were waiting for that? And, WNYT's RF18 and RF45 are still on the air, too, as of today.

You can stream the national feed from the Buzzr website at www.buzzrtv.com. Some diginets stream now so they don't have to rely solely on OTA carriage.

I watch Buzzr online when I browse. It works ok on my PC because I can expand the screen. When I do it through FireFox, that isn't possible. I never tried it on PlutoTV. TBH I never looked for it on PlutoTV. I use PlutoTV for 007 Movies, and various tv series like: Hunter, Wiseguy, Pacific Blue, Silk Stalkings, etc.

WNYT's sister station is the one I'm having issues with:
51.1 MyNetworkTV
51.2 Light TV
51.3 Decades
51.4 Heroes & Icons

According to RabbitEars, WRGB is authorized to test almost doubling their power, from 30.2 to 60 kW ERP. I see their signal about 3 dB higher than it was, which is double power. If there are no unexpected problems they'll be allowed to make it permanent. WPVI in Philadelphia, also on RF 6, is increasing power from 34 to 56 kW ERP. Increased interference is expected for people between the two but outside the market areas of both. Both stations have agreed to that.

If approved, this is what will be the coverage map of the signals, you have to zoom out to see WPVI's coverage area, and for kicks I threw in WKBS from Altoona too:
https://www.rabbitears.info/contour....1&cir=&circen=

There won't be any overlap of their contours, but there will be some potential interference in those inbetween areas that can get deep fringe reception like the higher elevations in Northern NJ, as well as potential interference within the contours whenever the boost conditions are right. BTW, not displayed on the map, the Franken-FM station WNYZ-LP in NYC, which kills any chance of getting either station in the vicinity of NYC's 5 Boroughs.

Since Oct 16 we have increased our power to 45 kW, or about 1.75 dB. That's about all we can do with the current transmitter.

Which shows that I shouldn't trust either the accuracy of my "spectrum analyzer" or my interpretation of its results. It's not a true spectrum analyzer but a $20 DVB-T tuner dongle used as a software defined radio. And while parts of the signal seem higher, others don't. Different atmospheric conditions could also affect the readings. I've attached scans from 10/7 and 10/24.

It appears that some signal is making a hump on both sides of channel 6 that wasn't there in the earlier scan. It doesn't affect my reception but there was a similar hump on WTEN's signal when they first moved to RF 24, and their signal quality was so poor that my older tuners couldn't lock onto it. That hump went away after a week or two and the quality went back to normal. Any idea what that is? Does anyone with a real spectrum analyzer see it?

Whatever you are doing, it's working. This is the best and consistent 6-1, 6-2, 6-3 has ever been.

I'm not sure why the ID is Schenectady. I thought WNGN is Troy and WNGX is Schenectady.

Right now it's sending out a signal but mapped to 36-1 to 36-4. My TV says it's 576i and every so often "Test Signal On" flashes on all the channels, so not sure if he tripped over the cord and unplugged it and lost all his settings , or what...

I'm going to assume that WFNY 16 must've been severely affected by Thursday's storm. They were on up until I went to bed at midnight...but as of Friday they appear to be off the air

Up here in Glens Falls, WYPX's power seems to be lower since then as well, sometimes pixely for me now. Before it was up to 70%, now 35%.

That's a big dip! I haven't noticed any measurable change with them though.

WFNY is back as of tonight. There was a power outage at the transmitter site. In contrast to how you're getting ch. 55, WFNY is actually a bit stronger for me now...at around 70%.

I have seen a few posts on this thread about receiving WCAX and WPTZ from VT - just an FYI, there was a fire with their transmission line and tower on Mt. Mansfield and both stations are off the air. There is a little more info in the Burlington thread.

WCAX and WPTZ are back on the air, and of course for me that means WYBN is gone. Oh well. Waiting for springtime and the change to RF26. Also, WNYT RF45 is off the air and TMobile's "5g" (which is really just expanded 4G on the 600 mhz frequencies) is on.

I haven't heard of anything, but most of the time these things happen quietly without much fanfare. Movies! is the one I'd kinda like to see. However unless something gets replaced (like TBD or Stadium... or a couple of the less-watched WYBN subs) I can't see our locals adding anything else.
