Did a rescan this morning and WQDH in the Wilmington area had added Cheddar TV at channel 49.5.

Well, I have given up on WILM, and oriented my Antenna towards WFXB in Myrtle beach. I am getting a very good signal from the other Wilmington stations in the Delco area even though oriented towards WFXB, and WFXB covers MeTV as well as H and I in addition to other subchannels. I still use WSFX for Fox though.

Mid week, when the weather changes again, I'll see how the tropo effects might abuse the signal for WWAY, WSFX, WECT, and WUNJ.

I used to get WFXB a lot until the channel changes. WEPX out of Craven county is on channel 36, which is the same as WFXB now.

Does any one have trouble-receiving WUNJ the NC ETV station? I did not have any trouble getting it when it was on channel 29 their first digital channel. I thought I was receiving them a month or 2 ago [I thought] after they changed to the new channel 21. But now the signal I receive is so weak I can only get it one in a while. It was not as strong as WECT or WWAY. But it was about the same signal level as WSFX before this last channel change. Now I receive WSFX very well along with WECT & WWAY. Does any one know any thing going on or is any one else having a weak signal from WUNJ?

I live in Wilmington and WUNJ are repeat channels for me. I get them on 19.1 thru 19.4 and 39.1 thru 39.4 Signal strength for me is pretty good. I have an outdoor antenna though.

David-Dvt-man,

Up to the north, I can get WUNJ a little better than I could before. Maybe you have co channel interference? I also get the 19 channels on WUNM mentioned above. Those channels are on the same tower as WYDO and WCTI. WUNM has a directional pattern towards Wilmington.

I do have trouble with WSFX sometimes now at night.

I've wondered about that too. I figure they might use it to broadcast The CW in HD.

Would be interesting if they were to use it for experimenting with ATSC 3.0 ..

I'm near the Monkey Junction area and agree that something is off with the WUNJ signal. I'm not sure when it started as it's not a channel we watch regularly. I did a little Googling a few weeks ago and found something about WUNJ operating on their auxiliary antenna while they transitioned to a new primary. I can't seem to find the link now. I also couldn't find anything about how the aux antenna was different than the primary...same tower? different mounting height? different antenna pattern? less xmit power? What is clear is my reception, like yours, is no longer equal to the other ILM market signals.

I just found this. Looks like UNC-TV is doing (postponing) a lot of antenna work. https://www.unctv.org/watch/rescan/

This is the coverage map for WUNJ's Aux facility:
https://www.rabbitears.info/contour....9&site=1&map=Y

It's from the same tower, but it's about 332 feet lower and is 614 kW instead of 1000 kW, so it has a contour area of 51.2 miles instead of the 61.5 miles that their final facility will have:

I must have a killer set-up then, because my antenna is picking up the AUX antenna better than it did the original channel 29. I never have any break-up. The signal meter is at 60%.

It appears I need to play with antenna aiming a bit. Currently using a 4-bay bowtie indoors with a Tivo for OTA.

Apparently, my CRS is acting up. I thought the 4 locals were split 2-2 between the Delco and Winnabow (?Sullivan's Island?) towers. However, reviewing the RabbitEars info (thanks KyL416), WWAY/WECT/WSFX are all on the Winnabow tower and WUNJ and WILM are on Delco. I thought I was pointed to split the difference, but I must be a little too biased towards Winnabow.

Greetings all, Are there any problems with the signals coming from wway, wect, and wsfx?

Either they are getting hammered by tropospheric problems, or something weird this sunday afternoon ?

Regards!

All stations working here, and my antennas are now in my attic thanks to a tornado a couple of weeks ago. I turned my Winegard 8800 into two 4400s, and they actually do fairly well.

Looks like it was just the tropospheric effects then. the signals on those stations appear to be better here now.

jspENC, are you pointing the 2 halves of your 88 to different areas?

I am using an Antennacraft U4000 (very similar to the 4400 ) and am aiming it between WFXB and WECT/WSFX/WWAY. It works well except for bad tropospheric days like Sunday.

I may get one of the RCA ANT751's to point towards WFXB later..

Regards!

Yes. One to the north, and one to the south. I don't get any distant channels out of their coverage zone like I used to though. I am just glad to be able to get all the normal channels. I also have a VHF antenna for New Bern and Greenville.

We just moved into a house in Magnolia Greens in Leland NC, zip code 28451. With indoor antenna we can get WWAY, WECT, WSFX, WUNJ, and WILM. Would getting a roof antenna be worth it so that we can get WADA, WTMV, WPXU, W47CK, or SC stations or are we maxed out at what we can get?

You need to visit this link and put in your address information to determine what might be needed.

https://www.rabbitears.info/searchmap.php

I took a peek with a guesstimate of your area, and your chances look pretty good for getting many of the NC ones. You probably won't be able to get any of the SC stations .

You wouldn't necessarily need a rooftop antenna, but definitely outdoor, maybe on the side of the house facing the correct direction.

Regards

Looks like the only realistic stations I could pick up would be WPXU and WTMV. I dont know if that would be worth the investment.

I was able to get WQDH and its 6 sub channels as well with my indoor antenna. Anyone know what is the affiliation for the .6 subchannel? Been trying to figure it out and all I've seen is infomercials and public domain petticoat junction

WQDH .6 was showing episodes of the Beverly Hillbillies early this morning. I really hope they have some good programming and not infomercials or a shopping channel. We have enough of them.

Unfortunately it is a glorified infomercial channel that HC2 is now running on a bunch of their stations across the country. A few of the infomercial channels now do things like randomly air public domain programs with a long form ad as the presenting "sponsor" during each break.
