This is the one I got for my sister in Amelia in a basement apartment. Doesn't door poorly but does not get all the channels available, but the main ones are strong and consistent for her.

Stumbled across this outdoor antenna. Reviews are good sale price is good. Anything that's a decent 4 bay antenna mounted outdoors will do it. Also look on line and try building your own too.

All the magic is in the antenna!

The LPTV Ch 20 & 25 are fairly easy to get in Cincinnati with an outdoor antenna. The translators are not something you'll likely get. I get all the Cincy and Dayton stations in Clermont Cnty with an antenna mounted 12 feet above the roof. Results may vary.
Antennas like automobiles, you get what you pay for, a VW and a Mercedes are both well made German car, but there is a difference.
By the way got our new transmitter installed and it is up to full power. Anybody see any difference. Both channel 20 and 25 are now both a the maxim power allowed by the FCC.

I have the above antenna mounted on my house in sharonville. I have it pointing towards dayton and get all the cincinnati and daytons stations.
my neighbor also has one mounted from the ceiling in his garage pointing towards cincinnati. he gets all the cincy stations except(ch.36 and 54).

elliot, transmitter update. here in sharonville I (used to) have trouble receiving ch. 25 when the outside antenna was poinging towards dayton. with your new setup I am now receiving 20 and 25 on the (backside of the antenna pointing towards dayton).
I have had issues with ch. 25 on trippo nights. I would loose your station completely and it would come back in the morning. I think the tuner was being confused by wave 3 louisville.
on those nights I would receive stations from louisville, indianapolis, kokomo and ft. wayne.

(indoor reception) in my house (with plaster walls) ch. 20 comes in all the time while ch. 25 breaks up occasionally especially at night.
could this be from interference from wave3 louisville which is also broadcasting on uhf 47.

You can also try moving it to different places to see if you can get 25 and 36. Sometimes experimentation produces surprising results!

Or you can up the ante and buy and install an outdoor antenna. Even the cheapest (new) outdoor antenna is pretty much guaranteed to get you everything where you live.

I haven't done any "official" measurements, but I'd say that WBQC's signal is as strong as WOTH's signal. That beam tilt tweak you were talking about in an earlier post must have done the trick!

That's good to know. Channel 20 is right above channel 25's antenna on the tower. Channel 20 antenna has 8 bay less gain but a broader beam, with 1.75 degrees of beam tilt and channel 25's antenna is a 12 bay with more gain and a narrower beam and a beam tilt of 1.25%. Both have null fill at 15, 10, 5%. At my house 14 air miles away from the tower and a 8 bay MCM panel antenna on a 30' tower I get channel 20 @ a 96 reading and channel 25 @ 98. WCPO, is above us on the tower comes in at a 93.

Looks like WDTN 2.2 is now Escape Tv. Also Elliott I've got all four bars lit up on Channel 20 & 25 which is as far as it goes signal wise. Not much of a signal meter in this tv. I'm using an old style CM4228 with a CM7777 mounted about 10 foot above the one story house.

heres my signal strengths for ch. 20 and 25 from a tivo Roamio series 5 box using vu90 outdoor (ant. pointing towards cincy) from sharonville powering 2 tv's. the tivo box signal strength meter reads about 15-20 points less than my converter box but you can get a general idea of how the signals compare.

(ch.20 - 60 percent) (ch. 25- 60 percent)

(ch.36 -50 percent)

(ch.5 - 62 percent) (ch.9 - 67 percent)
(ch.12 - 72 percent) (ch.14 - 72 percent)
(ch.19 - 67 percent) (ch.48 - 67 percent)
(ch.54 -57 percent) (ch.64 - 72percent)
------------------------------------------

mcm electronics 4 bay outdoor ant. (pointing towards dayton). (backside of antenna strengths for cincinnati channels).

(ch. 20 --39 percent) (ch. 25 -34 percent)

(ch. 2 -55) (ch5 - 49) (ch. 7 -60)

(ch.9 -47)
(ch. 12 - 66) (ch. 14 -51) (ch. 16 -50) (ch. 19 -51)

(ch. 22 -67) (ch. 26 - 55) (ch.36- 32) (ch.43 - 63)

My Antenna

My friend, John AKA "Mr. Antenna" is installing a new bushing on rotor shaft for my antenna at my house, and me playing with my new drone. I would upload the video but don't know it I can.

OK. The pic sorta answered what I was going to ask...Why use a rotor? Just join 2 antennas in different directions. I didn't want a rotor on mine because I hate to wait. When I tune to a channel, I don't want to wait for the antenna to turn to get reception.

BTW...I think it is bull that Antenna TV left you holding the bag, while they went elsewhere.

My antenna setup...And we get 20/25 reliably...and we are in Blanchester.

Squirrel I'm curious do you have a preamp on your OTA setup? I'm in Goshen and without the CM7777 amp a lose some stuff here. I've got an 8 bay old style CM4228 for the antenna

Yes. Inside the house before the split. Without it, most all signals are unreliable. With it, I get over 50 OTA channels.

you dont need a rotor with this antenna. I would recommend changing the wires (make sure they are the same length as the origional set) and changing the cheap splitter if you want to get vhf. I have one of these 2 section antennas in the basement but im waiting for my siding to be instaled before I put up. I know elliot (ch.20 and ch.25 owner) has one installed at his house in clermont county so it must work pretty good. also ch. 9 has the little brother 4 bay system like mine installed over their studios so they seem to work.

Thanks for posting the data. .2 of a dB is close enough to say both channels are getting out with the same signal. We can debate the particulars, like 47 vs 20 and 25 feet higher on the tower, but they are both working as I wanted them to.

Heads Up.Another new sub channel coming Monday to WKRC 12.3

http://americansportsnet.com/asn-lau...ork-on-monday/

Monday, Jan. 11 will be a historic day in sports television as American Sports Network launches a new, 24/7 sports network in 10 cities. The show is a weekly 30-minute magazine show (streamed on americansportsnet.com on Thursdays) dedicated to the people, stories and news in the Atlantic 10. “Atlantic 10 Spotlight” is produced at ASN’s new West Palm Beach, Fla., studios with Monica McNutt and Jorge Andres hosting.

The centerpiece of the new network will be live sports programming, with 16 live games in the first week — 12 men’s basketball games, two women’s basketball games and two hockey games. To view the schedule, click here.

More cities will be added soon.

It will be interesting to see how a 1080i HD, 720p HD, and a (presumably) 480i SD sub channel play with each other in terms of bandwidth usage. Hopefully it won't make the HD sub channels look worse!

I guess they feel like adding another channel is doable with the newer encoder they have.

Strange that they hadn't launched on 12.3 yet. Perhaps they found out there's not enough bandwidth after all to add a third channel. Hmmm

I got a response from someone on their facebook page that they are still planning to be on WKRC and are working with them resolving the tech issues.

I had American Sports Network on briefly only it was taking the channel 64-4 spot usually occupied by GET-TV. It is now back on GET-TV as of 9:05 so I suppose they were making a test run.

64.4 does show some ASN basketball games which preempts GET-TV. I'm sure GET-TV is staying on 64.4 and those games will move to 12.3 once it lights up.

Did an autoscan just now and the scan found 12-3 and labeled it s ASN. No picture yet and a message on the channel says "Mode not supported". My guide for this station reads the exact same programming as does Local 12 for the moment. I guess I'll see what I have when I wake up tomorrow morning.
