Inside? Outside? Attic? Number of televisions? Stations that are/aren't important? Apartment? Condo? Which floor? Budget?

Otherwise, I'd recommend a small UHF-VHF-Hi combo (example) on the roof or high up on the side of the house nearest the transmitters. From the looks of things, you might be able to get away with less, but if you want to do it once and be done with it, that'd work.

Start cheap and keep receipts. At your distance, depending on your dwelling info, something as simple as rabbit ears might work. I think I speak for most of us when I recommend you avoid gimmick antennas. You're paying for the gimmick when something far cheaper would work just as well.

Yeah, I'm in Tampa pending a new gig. PM me dates, etc. Though you're correct. At the moment, it's a bit far. I have one parrot recovering from an issue. He requires 2X daily meds which rules out anything requiring an overnight stay, for the moment. We're about to TRY a couple, though. He's about to that point.

If you ever hit Disney on a weekday, let me know. We make that trip rather frequently since we can't do much else.

And THANKS.

Inside?Outside?Attic? It's a block wall house and it's a single floor and I have an old chimney that isn't used so I figure that would be a good mounting point. So I planned on outside.
Number of televisions? 3 planned, 4 max.
Stations that are/aren't important? As many as possible is what I'd be shooting for. Only really planned on the stuff coming out of Jacksonville.
Budget? I figured this would be a permanent thing so I wouldn't mind up to 150 if it lasted.

I believe we currently have 2 RCA ANT1052F and a few channels come in okay with spots of lag. We can't get WCWJ-DT at all and would like to get most of the major broadcast channels.

Any other information I can provide please let me know so I can be more of a help.

You have 2 must-have VHFs, so this or this on your chimney pointed NNW would probably work. If you still have VHF problems, you may need to step up to this.

A preamp might also be nice to have since you'll be feeding up to 4 sets.

If I wanted to do overkill would the first link you sent, the channelmaster.com/Digital_HDTV_Outdoor_TV_Antenna_p/cm-2020.htm ,just to do it once and be done with it, work? Or would that hurt the signal more than it would help?

If you just want to do it once, go with the third link. Or something similar. Some may argue, but, unless you live 3 miles from the transmitters, it's hard to overload without some kind of amplifier. The biggest issue is VHF multipath. The more you can do to minimize that, the better.

Hey is there any other Jacksonville owners thread? Just curious. I was considering using Behrens for some home theater upgrades and wanted to know if anyone had experience with them and their recommendations etc.

Thanks!

If you want a differnt approach to the way news is delivered watch Bethany Anderson on WTLV 12-1 on Sunday mornings at 7:00 AM. She is very entertaining with a style all her own.

I’m not having any trouble with WJXT OTA this morning. Its signal has been garbage though on DirecTV, other locals are coming in fine.

Now I am getting 4-1 and 25-1. Maybe it has to do with atmospheric conditions. Mesaboy, nice to see someone else on the Jacksonville forum.

If you live a distance away from WJXT and WTLV transmitters,it might be hard to get them lately. I talked to an engineer from the station who said that issues have developed on the towers they hope to have them fixed shortly.

Caught this earlier today, explains why it’s been bad on DirecTV lately:

Do you mean the FCC TV spectrum repack? - the dates for that are on antennaweb.org

Maybe someday ABC 25-1 will get a strong enough signal to reach St. Augustine all the time. The other Jacksonville stations dont seem too have problems reaching here on a daily basis. This has gone on for at least 15 years.

WJXT 4 has added StartTv on 4-3. WCWJ 17 has added Movies! on 17.3. I wish I could get channel 35. I'd love to watch Cozi TV and Escape.

I have recently lost my signal to PBS(WJCT). Picked up 17.3 and added 4.3 but 4.3 has no signal 4.2, 4.1 are fine
