I haven't been able to receive it and I'm about 15 miles from the tower location.
Some of these translators have weak signals. I could never get the WLOS translator from Paris Mtn. when I lived in Mauldin and the WSPA translator did not come in either. But the Anderson translator for WSPA has decent power for a translator but perhaps height is an issue. You may be better off getting the Stellar Labs High VHF antenna and receive the main RF7 signal. After repack they are increasing power and moving to 11.

Now that I live in Spartanburg County I receive the WSOC translator from Crowders Mtn. They have good signal for a translator but I hope I don't lose it after the repack when they move from 30 to 12. On paper the coverage area looks better but VHF digital reception can be problematic and subject to noise and interference. And adjacent channel issues when WSPA moves to 11. I wish WSOC-CR would stay UHF, but perhaps it will hopefully work out.

Thanks for the details. I figure that we are in a slightly higher elevation and the tower at that location is probably not much higher than our elevation level.

Pretty disappointed.

Does anyone have recommendation for an antenna installer who serves the Spartanburg area? I am in the process of buying a house and will probably be looking for someone to do this in the next few months. Thanks.

According to the link below, as of August of last year DISH had contractors who would do it. I had one installed by someone else last summer, but I don't have the contact info. There are folks around who do it.

I've heard from various sources that 3.0 will be a more robust signal with less susceptibility
to interference, multipath, ect.....I wonder if that will be the reality. We really need that improvement here in the upstate!

Anyone notice that WHNS 21 Fox Carolina went off the air at about 12:15 am on 4/23/19 ?

I wonder if they are getting ready for the repack.

Did not hear an explanation. Perhaps just a technical problem or perhaps indeed doing tower work for the repack. As they prepare this summer, it is possible some stations may have to use temporary side mount antennas as they prepare for new repack antenna on top of the tower. We shall see. Only WLOS and WBTV will not be changing channels and remain the same.

Interesting that Court TV is being rebooted after a 10 year hiatus?
Wonder if they will bring back many of the original hosts that were around during the original Court TV like Nancy Grace and Dan Abrams?

Good to hear they are adding the channel and not dropping anything more choice on subnets is better.

I’m 24 miles from there and can barely get WGGS. But can get WAXN 92 miles away.

I think WYFF or Charter made some sort of change with aspect ratio. Because at the hospital all the TVs Channel 4 is way too zoomed in. WSPA is still normal widescreen. Channel 4 cut off the station logo and picture is way too close. All channels standard def. but WYFF is way zoomed in too much. People complaining. Or maybe hospital maintenance staff mess something up on the in house cable system.

I am going to try Sunday or Monday with separate antenna point towards Paris Mtn. I get 16, 4, 21, 40 with UHF antenna point towards Charlotte but it mess up 28 and 50 from Paris Mtn. I have separate VHF antenna for 13, which also pull in 7 and 62, and SCETV channels 29, 49. UHF antenna also get 3, 36, 46, 55, 17, and 9.9 from NC and sometime 14, 18, and 9.1 .

I sent a message to the Fox Carolina (WHNS 21 ) engineer to see if the Managerment would consider add a 5th Sub channel to add Decades network and he reply back said he would pass it along. since not too many people can receive that Low Power station of WGGS for channel 28 it might be good if more people request it to Chief Engineer Bob Munyon https://www.foxcarolina.com/site/contact.html

I wish they add Laff TV instead of Escape. WHNS and WGCL in Atlanta are the only Meredith stations that don't air Laff. WGCL can't air because it airs on WSB. WHNS could. I figure WHNS ais itr because their master control is run from WGCL and it's easier to run the same channel on both stations.

Summer conditions in mornings pull in distant stations while wipe out local stations. Problem lose WLOS and WCNC and WJZY this morning but main WSOC and WCCB come in full strength and Greensboro come in. Also FM station sometimes interference on 95.1, 96.1, and 107.9 from Georgia station and others. Too many low power FM station now interfere with full power distant stations. I like listen to Bob and Sherry in the morning but now they got interference on 107.9 in Greenville County until you get into Taylors and Greer. Look like Entercom would put them on one of their Upstate signal like they do with Vince Coakley since they move him back to WBT in Charlotte. WLNK normally had strong signal in GVL.

Need to adjust VHF antenna in attic for 13 but it get hot up there.

I can't get the WLOS TV 13 Over the air and i get WSOC 9.9 some time it come in strong then it start goes out and i get WSOC 9.1 in evening time and in morning time till it start go away. and I get WHKY 14 at Times as i have my Antenna inside hang on a Metal Clothes rack pointing toward charlotte set in front of a window that points toward north if i had my antenna outside on a Pole it might could get those other stations full time. same way with WCCB 18 have you had any luck with the Low power station 28 of WGGS

I notice on Rabbit ears i notice WSPA add a Low Power channel around Anderson SC on RF channel 21

also at times i get WSOC sister channel 64 I remember long time ago i picked up WLOS 13 back when they was on the UHF channel before they switch to VHF

i also get the ETV channel 38 from Greenwoord some times.

A UHF antenna like 4ay or 8bay can pick up some VHF channel if they are pointed the right way and strong signal. My 8bay UHF antenna get 7 and 62 and 29/49 (9) while pointed toward Charlotte but will not get 13. So I add rabbit ears or better VHF antenna. And Radioshack.com still sell UHF/VHF signal joiner which is better splitter for combining UHF and VHF antennas.

Hey Y'all!

We're moving from the Charlotte area to Greenville soon. We're going from a house to an apartment temporarily, so I wanted to put this by y'all:

I've got a directional antenna, which I want to mount on the underside of a large wooden rocking chair. The rocking chair will hide the antenna, yet the arrangement will allow me to have an outside antenna (which is a no no in most apartment complexes).

So...here's the question: the rocking chair will sit outdoors, caddycornered, right next to the sliding glass door on my porch. Do I need to ground the antenna? If so, I probably couldn't do that in an apartment, which means that I probably won't be able to mount the antenna outside.

Thoughts?

Hiding under a rocking chair will hinder reception. If you are concerned with a discreet antenna for cosmetic purposes, then I would suggest a flat panel antenna such as Antop 400BV. Most apartments allow satellite dishes, so this is similar but square. It also comes with an indoor stand to place inside. Although sometimes apartment reception can be problematic due to neighboring walls blocking reception. I could loan you or assist you with this antenna if you would like.

At an apartment, you should hopefully receive WYFF-4 and WHNS-21, the NBC and FOX affiliates. And hopefully WSPA-7, which is CBS and CW-62. But VHF may be a bit more challenging, although 7 is a strong signal. It is 13-WLOS from Asheville which is more problematic. And at many locations, WBTV-3 from Charlotte also has a strong signal for CBS. What area is your apartment near? And what type of antenna do you have? Good luck.

Many thanks, for taking interest in my query.

We're looking at apartments between Haywood Mall, and where Pelham and The Parkway intersect.

Here's the antenna that I bought:

https://www.amazon.com/Channel-Maste...ZK1F283K7S4YES

Coupled with the antenna would be an old, but excellently working, Radio Shack signal amplifier (10db).

I would imagine that WLOS would be out of my range...
