Perhaps they are doing preliminary repack work on the tower or some other technical problem. Although I don't think WSPA is moving until next year. Although you should get a strong signal from WBTV for CBS, but I understand you are also wanting to get WSPA. But WYFF and WHNS should be changing with the repack in September. WBTV and WLOS are not changing. WJZY, WCNC, WSOC, and WCCB will also be changing, and WJZY is currently reducing power sometimes as they work on their tower during the day.

Good information, thank you. yes I am still getting WBTV and all of my other channels, just not WSPA which has always been the strongest signal for me. I was hoping someone closer to Spartanburg could confirm if they were also having trouble with WSPA.

Thank

WSPA came back this morning but very weak. They must be running low power.

Sometimes summer weather conditions create problems. But perhaps WSPA was indeed at reduced power. I will check Sunday morning when I get home from work. Although since I am much closer in Spartanburg County, I may not notice a reduced signal. The problematic VHF signal here in the Upstate is WLOS on channel 13. I am having issues with that station right now, but it has been too hot in the attic to fool with. Plus I currently pull in the WSOC translator from Crowder's Mtn, as well as often the main WSOC signal from Charlotte. But I am afraid I may lose WSOC from Crowder's when they move from 30 to 12, but we shall see. I do have a good High VHF antenna I may install at that time.

Here's interesting video from WGGS about their swtich to channel. Long story short. If you can't them or channel 28 right now, you won't be able to get them again until Sept. 9th. Also note that they are only building a 150 foot tower. Remember they were paid 43 million dollars to make this switch so it's not like they couldn't afford to build a taller one.

They Did mention on that video that they going to create a another Low power station they are just reduce their power at diffrent times while they doing the work. as i can receive them at no problem when they go back full power but lose them when they reduce the power here in spartanburg.

They did mention a second low power station that they are going to create by moving their Hendsonville translator to Paris Mtn.

If I understood correctly...the temporary antenna they are using for channel 16 can't operate at full power. It appears they'll at low power until they move to channel 2.

Keep in mind that the 150 foot tower is on Paris Mountain. It's about the same height as their current tower, which is over 2000 feet above sea level. The old one probably can't support the channel 2 antenna, plus LPTVs. W28DB will transmit on 16 and their Hendersonville translator moves to Paris Mt. and channel 16.

I still get WGGS near Inman even though they have reduced power. I guess they add low power 16 channel on Paris Mtn. in case they have problem with signal on VHF channel 2. But to get channel 2 it will be best to go back to those large all band antennas with the long elements, and some folks may not want to do that. But hopefully they have enough power. The big low VHF/UHF antennas include Winegard 8200 and Channel Master 3020. I will be very interested to see if a compact antenna such as Clearstream 4V or Antop 400BV will still pick up 16 after they move to channel 2.

The WGGS translator in Hendersonville is on Channel 31, which is the same frequency as the WLOS translator/repeater on Paris Mountain. Based on Rabbitears.info, it looks like the translator from Hendersonville will move to Channel 15.

So look like Channel 28 will move to low power 16 and WGGS will have translator on channel 15, both on Paris Mtn. Hopefully the WGGS translator will help if problem getting channel 2.

Hmm...guys....

If you'd watch the video at the link I posted, it would answer most of these questions.

Just saying.....

As for the 150 foot tower. A taller tower would have improved the signal quality in Western North Carolina and here in northern Oconee where they've always been marignal.

Don't forget they're being paid 43 MILLION dollars to move channel 2. They can afford a taller tower. Don't know why they didn't apply for permission for one. It would have also expanded the reach of their low power stations.

Big dispute apparently WSPA dropped from DirecTV and possibly 62 as well. Time to get out the rabbit ears to get channel 7 as Nexstar negotiate.

Wonder if they will deploy the somewhat elusive LCC as they have in other markets...

Mine came today... I have to reconfigure how things are hooked up before I can test it though. Right now the main Genie isn’t where an antenna drop is, so I’ve got to switch it and a Mini.

Look like this may replace the old AM21 add on tuner device for the OTA antenna channels. Is it available for all markets with DirecTV? And looks like it ships with a Leaf style antenna, perhaps Winegard version, but would probably be better to add a better outside or attic antenna. And will it support guide data for multiple markets, or is it limited to DMA zip code? Or maybe it use the PSIP. I may go to AT&T store and look into this.

I want to see how it performs relative to my Am-21’s with my rooftop antenna, and have those same questions.
But that antenna is not promising to me in reality.
Be interesting to see what the ATT store knows about it too.
My inside contact at DirecTv was not able to provide much info.

Michael and Carol have done WYFF's 6pm news since 1994. That's a record for one anchor team. I'm guessing Nigel or Geoff are next in line for the 6pm job.

Right now you maybe lose WSOC channel 9 in parts of the Upstate or Spartanburg due to repack work on the tower. Working on new signal for September and they use AUX antenna, reduced signal.
