Just as a followup, I finally got a setup that works getting all the channels. Stuck with the Boost XT preamp, and connected it to a Winegard 7694P Antenna in my attic. I get NBC and the WDSC channels that I was missing as well.

My own followup.

I built a Single-Bay Gray-Hoverman (SBGH) antenna using directions from: http://www.diytvantennas.com/sbgh.php. I included the reflector element. It's easy to add and make a big difference.

Mounted it in the attic and hooked it up to the becroom TV (32" Plasma Samsung). As a UHF-only antenna, it picks up everything but WESH 2.1 (Real Channel = 11), the only VHF station in the Orlando-Daytona-Melbourne market. I plan on adding "Top Hat VHF Narods" in the future to pick up WESH.

For now though, in the UHF band it is markedly outperforming my Winegard Freevision antenna with a Boost XT amp. About half of the channels on the SBGH are at 100% signal strength and almost all the others are over 50%. So I get very strong performance on all channels.

Not bad considering I'm about 40 miles from the transmitters.

WSWF 10 has changed some of their programing again.
10.1- Is still Rev'n
10.2- Has a black screen with No Video signal on the screen but the PSIP says ASN
10.3- BIZ TV
10.4-Jewrley TV
10.5- Info Co, which is infomercials
Don't know if ASN is American Sports Network, since O-Town doesn't have a Sinclair owned station, The Rabbit Ears listing is way out of date, Newsmax has been off since last year

Interesting development. I was experimenting with the "Hi-Hat Narods" modification for the SBGH antenna, for VHF reception (ie, WESH). Since my attic-mounted SBGH for the bedroom TV was not very accessible, I used another SBGH antenna I had laying around. This one was more basic - no reflectors. But I put on the Hi-Hat Narods and SURPRISE - WESH, Ch. 2-1 (Real Channel 11) came in very strong WITH THE ANTENNA PROPPED UP AGAINST THE WALL IN THE FAMILY ROOM.

Some of the other stations didn't come in, but I attributed that to the antenna not being mounted high enough. The antenna for the family room was right next to the attic hatch, so it was easy to get to. So I swapped the Winegard Freevision antenna mounted there for the SBGH with Hi-Hat Narods (but no reflectors). There was a Winegard LNA-200 amp mounted on that antenna line, so I left it.

Most of the stations then came in just fine. The 2 exceptions being 15 (WDSC) and 24 (WUCF), the two college PBS stations. WDSC goes from not there at all to an 80% signal. WUCF is almost nonexistant. That's with a good line amp.

So I checked it against the bedroom TV's SBGH antenna (with reflectors, but unamplified). Both WDSC (15-1) and WUCF (24-1) are solidly there all of the time, around 60% signal strength.

Both TVs are Samsung 42" plasmas, so the tuners are probably identical. The antennas are mounted at the same height, about 25 feet apart.

I'll probably be adding a reflector to the family room antenna soon. Hopefully I can take out the line amp and simplify the knot of power cords under the TV.

WDSC has been having issues of some kind (on DirecTV I get a message that the station is down and will be back asap once in awhile), so you getting/not getting it is understood, but not getting WUCF is kind of weird. I receive them both OTA (when WDSC is up) at around 95% signal strength and I'm in Melbourne. I'd try without the amp and see what you get, as sometimes those things hinder more than they help .

WDSC (15.1) is getting more solid. WUCF (24.1) is still very iffy. However, on a rescan I picked up WPBF (25.1) the ABC affiliate out of Palm Beach. Was pretty solid until a couple of hours after sunrise when it went out.

I'm sure that I'm picking this up because I don't have the reflectors on the back of my family room SBGH, making it a bi-directional antenna.

Makes me wonder if I went to a rooftop mount Double-Bay-Gray-Hoverman (DBGH) and aimed it at Miami, just how well I'd pick up the South Florida stations...

Time was (1960s) when we got West Palm and Orlando from the south end of Brevard County with a d8rectional antenna, a 30' mast and a rotor. Wonder what we'd get now? In other words - has there really been "progress"?

What sort of "progress" were you expecting? The digital switch over was intended to replicate the previous analog coverage as best it could. In some instances coverage improved, in others coverage was degraded to some degree, generally small. In most areas, it was essentially a wash.

If you were in a deep fringe area before the transition, you probably still are. The biggest difference is that most stations ended up on UHF channels (soon to be changing in many cases) and most large antennas from the analog era were mostly VHF performers.

I remember back in the late 70's/early 80's we used to pick up WTOG (44) out of Tampa. I doubt you'd get it now.

At my brother's house in Palm Bay, I have hooked up for him a UHF/VHF antenna pointed towards the Orlando stations, and a UHF antenna pointed towards West Palm. They are combined and amped for 3 TV's. With this he's able to get all of the Orlando stations and in addition, West Palm stations WPBF 25 & WTVX 34 along with their respective sub channels at good to excellent levels.

The FCC Broadcast Television spectrum incentive auction winning bids are in. According to this file here in Orlando only WACX 55 (RF 40) and WTGL 45 (RF 46) are listed. WACX apparently is going to move to a high VHF channel which they have up to 39 months from today to do so. And WTGL is going off the air which will happen up to 90 days after they receive their money.

WTGL is flagged as intending to channel share with another station that is not going off the air. We don't yet know if that will turn into an actual agreement to do so or who with.

Thanks for the update. Kind 'a thought that WTGL was making good money with all that pay for play that they run. Didn't think that they would just take the money and run. However depending on what station they're going to share, they may not be able to bring their sub channels along for the move.

Since they are a Full Power station, I suspect they will share with a LP station, which is probably the one that will not be able to bring any sub-channels. Though that will limit how many Sub-channels they have at least until the 3.0 comes. Of course I could be that word that can never be spoken

I see it's all the Full Power and Class A Low Power station, what about the rest of the LP Stations? When should we find out if they have room. I assume the new channel positions are the Virtual channel and not the physical channel is there a way to know what the physical channel will be

The channel listings on the left side are the new RF (physical) channel location and the current channel location just to the right. I would like to think the virtual channels would remain the same, just the RF assignment would change. Looks like (full power wise) WESH, WKMG, WRDQ, and WEFS will not be moving at all.

LPTV stations were not protected in the process, by law. They will file for their own new channels, as necessary, later in the process.

Frank is correct about the channel numbers. Virtual channels will be unchanged.

Thanks it can be confusing since both numbers listed WESH 2 on 11 when it is displayed on 2, Likewise WRCF is displayed on 29 not 35, so I wasn't sure if it would still be on 29 or 16.

I live by Universal Studios and never knew this station existed. Even though I'm only a few miles away from them I cannot pick them up due to the oddball pattern they have. They have 7 streams too. I thought 6 was the max.
In other news, what's the deal with WOTF 43.3 still running Escape which is also on WFTV 9.3. There has got to be something else they could run, isn't there?

Yeah I know that seems unusual but looking at their website Escape has 8 cities where there are 2 affiliates. We have a number of Networks either missing or on stations very few can pick up Justice Network being one we are missing

WANN in Atlanta has even more than that
