Sadly, I thought it was some kind of "very special" pseudo-silent episode at first.

This better be fixed before Heroes.

Did you see The Nightly News at 6:30? It was an audio disaster!

vurbano, FOX 43 must flip to SD to show their required (by the FCC) hourly legal ID. For the annoyingness to stop, a HD keyer must be purchased, which probably won't happen until the station goes HD for news.

I noticed, too, that 43 is doing this. You'd think it could be done in a commercial break near the top of the hour.

It's not just 43, it's every station due to an FCC requirement.

I was saying moving from HD to SD and back to HD just for doing the legal ID. WVEC-DT doesn't have to go SD just to show the station's legal ID. It has it's own graphic in HD. Almost all the time a station will bury it in a commercial break just before the top-of-the-hour...

So, anyone notice the little zingers at Andy Fox on WTKR? I wonder what that's all about.

Don't watch WTKR. I refuse to even consider it as long as Barbara Ciera is there.

I'm sure they hired a marketing firm who said that is the kind of ads they needed to run to increase viewership, I for one will never watch them specifically because of the ads(that and I hate their newscasts).

What did Barbara Ciera do??

I swear though, everytime I see a WTKR newscast, there's a new anchor/weather guy/sports guy that I've never seen before....

I was at 3 when 3-1 went online, 3 has had an HD station ID/logo keyer since it went on the air.
I am not sure if 43 does or not, or if it is simply operator error. I have found if a new device requires a change in procedure, most operators resist using it.

SD on WAVY at the moment. HD started to have major problems a few minutes ago. They're now stable but boxed SD. Given that we needed the rain badly, I really can't complain about the storm.

Even though not in HD, the SD picture doesn't have lip-sync issues like it did when in HD for the first ten minutes...

When you all started talking about this vendetta that WTKR seemed to suddenly have against Andy Fox and WAVY, I thought you all were kidding, or at least exaggerating. Then tonight, while watching "How I Met Your Mother" from a couple of days ago, I see the following flash on screen for a fraction of a second:

I went back and paused it and took a picture. I'm shocked. This is about the most ridiculously unprofessional and childish thing I've ever seen out the local media. What on earth is going on over there???

Any body else getting severe stutters and breakups of 43-1 via Cox without the HD box?
I have the cable direct into my HDTV, looked okay last night when testing for tonight's game.

I saw the same thing during the Unit, only it was a picture of Andy Fox with Michael Vick and it said "On His Side."

This crap has Barbara Ciera written all over it. Remember she is managing editor of the station and defacto general manager as they are scared to death of her. This is unprofessional and I hope it blows up in their face although it's hard to imagine that they could drop any lower than the last place they already are.

Please elucidate - what does this discussion have to do with OTA engineering? There must be a better thread to write about this issue.

Just went and looked up elucidate. So, I can answer your question. NOTHING! However, I posted it here thinking that Les might see it and give us some insight into what is going on. Regards...

Good grief, do it during commercial as has already been stated not in the middle of football games or the WS. God knows there is enough of commercials for it to happen.

For the record I just emailed WTKR's general manager(if the website is updated) to voice my displeasure.

And no, this does not deal w/HDTV directly, but it is being shown to us on an HD station.
