If your referring to the CM 4221 4bay, its the antenna i started my digital dance with(& still have for backup). Alas it didn't have enough gain for WHNS, but i later found out NO ANTENNA has enough gain for that station.

So ugly only an antenna engineer could love ,but a great mid range performer.

Terk has become the Monster of TV antennas and are overpriced. And the flat panel versions are made for aesthetics rather than functionality. But the HDTVi/HDTVa are very good antenna designs adapted from the Silver Sensor model with rabbit ears added for VHF. Those 2 models are actually excellent indoor antennas that work very well. But as alluded, the original Made in the USA antennas from Channel Master were about the best outdoor antennas available, along with Winegard. It is regretable that Channel Master has now been reduced to Chinese made imitations. Their CM4248 and 4257 diamond yagis were among the best long range UHF antennas available, and for me, have performed better than the 91XG that utilizes a similar design. Sadly, they are no longer available. And their original 4221/4228 bow tie versions were highly regarded as well. And were made in Smithfield, NC east of Raleigh.

I went over to his place to watch the Pro Bowl and he was excitedly telling me about the new "Digital" antenna that he had purchased for his big screen Samsung, but it didn't work any better than the home made one in the garage.

I have grown weary of telling people that there is no such thing as an HD antenna OR a Digital antenna. All they have to hear is the words "HD" or "Digital" in reference to a great new type of antenna, and they are like sheep. The people at Best Buy do not like me as I butt in every time I hear a salesperson hyping one of there "Digital HD" antennas.

The best antennas at Best Buy are the Clearstreams, which are good UHF loop designs. But they are overpriced there. And if you need rabbit ears for VHF or FM radio, you are better off to go to Radioshack.

The program info is missing yet again on 3.2 and 3.3. Why is it so difficult to maintain the program description OTA on these subchannels?

I also tried WBTV OTA and it was bad. So it was not DISH, it was a local issue.

Yeah it happened on the WBTV OTA feed, too. Sadly, I only discovered it when I tried to watch the recording on the TiVo, so I couldn't switch to the other CBS feed that I get (WFMY 2-1) to see if they had the problem.

Update: Yeah, what Zaxcom said.

Any chance WCNC could drop the Live Well channel for a few hours during the Superbowl tomorrow? It would increase the HD pic quality on the NBC telecast. I believe WBTV dropped the subchannels for the Superbowl a few years ago on CBS, and I remember it looking very impressive at that time.

I do not personally need anything other than what I have, which is a home-made clothes hanger antenna the equivalent of a DB-4. Radio stations come in fine with just a wire on an old VHF rod attached to my receiver.

I had thought about buying a 8-bay antenna an placing it in the attic, but I realized that I was only going to be able to pick up one more station and the cost wasn't worth it. I wouldn't mind getting WMYT, but I am not going to spend any more money to get it. I have a friend who lives in Mountain View right outside of Hickory and he can't pick it up either, so it is a hit or miss proposition at best depending on where you live in this area. I have determined that it is not worth worrying about. If it ever comes in, good. If not, it doesn't matter.

I receive 23 unique channels (no duplicates) and have more to watch than I have time.

CBS - 3.1 - WBTV
IND - 3.2 - thisTV
IND - 3.3 - Bounce TV
ABC - 6.1 - WSOC
IND - 6.2 - WAXN
ABC - 9.2 - Weather and the occasional ball game
IND - 14.1 - WHKY
IND - 14.2 - RTV
IND - 14.3 - Tuff TV
IND - 14.4 - Family TV
PBS - 17.1 - UNC-TV
PBS - 17.2 - UNC-EX
PBS - 17.3 - UNC-KD
FOX - 18.1 - WCCB
IND - 18.3 - MeTV
NBC - 36.1 - WCNC
NBC - 36.2 - LW
PBS - 42.1 - WTVI-HD
PBS - 42.2 - WTVI-MH
PBS - 42.3 - WTVI-ED
CW - 46.1 - WJZY
IND - 46.2 - AntennaTV
IND - 46.3 - TCN

By the way: I am really liking The Country Network.

Anyone seeing a black band at the top of the pic on the SuperBowl? My set is set to full scan and I have a 3/4" wide black band. Commercials look fine, local insert looks fine. Game only has the problem.

Country Boy I understand. It's the same situation here in Huntersville with WKHY, no decent signal, no guide & no prospects that it's going to improve. I don't even think the NSA could pick it up in a reliable manner. So, like you, I've decided to give up on it for now.

I'm seeing the black bar on WRCB in Chattanooga. Only looks to be impacting the game, not spots. I'm watching for the spots, not the sportball game.

I don't see a black band on either of the channels I pick up here in Eastern NC.

I'm not particularly watching for the pigskin ball game either.

Snapshot of the black bar at the very top. Granted, I'm in Chattanooga, but I suspect it's the same one Zaxcom is seeing.
