Is WSOC-FM 103.7 still on WSOC-TV tower with Channel 9 or did they move? I get strong radio signal better than expected in GVL County at my house so it seems like they have very good signal. I expect the Dallas radio signals such as 95.1 and 107.9 to come in good because they are closer but 103.7 come in good also.

WSOC-FM is not on WSOC-TV's tower and has not been for many years.

Maybe I had forgot about that. But their radio signal is very good.

And I wonder why Cox chose to sell the WSOC radio stations? They still own WSB Radio and TV station in Atlanta, as well as the AJC newspaper. I guess it was a business decision. But 103.7 obviously kept the legacy WSOC call letters.

WSOC-FM is on the Hood Road Tower in NE Charlotte. COX sold it and WSOC-AM in the mid-90s

This is also the WKQC (K-104.7) site as well as the "historic" site of WCNC (WPCQ) - was WRET's antenna also here? Additonally, the former "Channel 36" studios are on this site. Interesting (odd) that the FCC maps I've attached also reference WPCQ. Does WCNC have an aux site here?

Yesterday major news with Senate hearing but WBTV and WCNC preempt for missing boy found in Gastonia and WYFF and WSPA preempt for plane crash. WBTV switched Gastonia coverage to 3.2 during Senate testimony.

There is a power outage at Crowder's Mtn. WSOC 9.5 and WAXN 64.5 are out until power returns

Guide Data for WCCB Smith Mtn Translator

I am simply wanting to survey OTA viewers in the Hickory, Lincolnton, Lenoir and Morganton areas who receive WCCB and its subchannels on channels 18.7 through 18.11. Additionally, I'm only interested if you get that signal via a Channel Master DVR, Tablo, Tivo or other similar tuner that gets guide data (up to 2 weeks worth) via the internet and not via PSIP data(up to 12 hours worth or so). Is your guide data for the indicated channels correct? Thanks!

WAXN 64.5 is not on at Crowder's Mtn. We have lost the MUX card on the encoder. We are trying to find a replacement. The current unit is no longer supported.

WSOC has changed skyline backdrop on news desk and added a 9 logo in the middle. More neutral colors for all dayparts, looks nice.

GREER, SC RECEPTION 29651: I currently live in Mauldin SC, in Greenville County zip code 29607. In the coming months I will be moving to Greer, SC in the area of zip code 29651 which is just across the Spartanburg County line. I am hoping to maintain reliable reception of the Charlotte TV signals I currently receive, which are WBTV, WCNC, and WJZY. And WSOC and WCCB often come in at night. With an attic antenna and preamp.

According to TV Fool, my signal strength should improve, from 74 miles to 65 miles. And I plan to install the antenna outside rather than in the attic. Can any experts comment on the Charlotte reception report for zip code 29651 and what stations I should reliably receive? Despite closer mileage, my concern is WCNC has more of a null to the west and I hope I can still receive that station. And perhaps a better chance of holding onto WSOC and WCCB during the day, as they can be received in parts of Spartanburg County. I do not expect any issues with any of the GSP stations, except possibly WLOS which can be problematic from Asheville.

The TV Fool does not list WSOC-34, but it does list the RF30 translator and WCCB-27 which should be similar to 34. And driving around Greer, I get strong car reception of 95.1, 96.1, 107.9, and 103.7 on the radio. Although apples to oranges, it may give you an idea. I looked at one house in 29651 and an indoor antenna got WBTV and WJZY, but not WCNC or WLOS. Hopefully an outside antenna will pull in WCNC as well. Experts please comment on 29651 reception as I am currently working with a realtor to purchase a new home in Greer or perhaps neighboring areas in southern Spartanburg County, such as Wellford, Lyman, or Duncan. Better real estate pricing and hopefully better Charlotte reception in these areas. Seeking opinion of TV Fool report for 29651 zip code if an expert could post the link and comment, thank you.

(Since I am concerned about the Charlotte stations, I posted in the Charlotte thread rather than Greenville-Spartanburg. And unfortunately I had technical problem and could not get TV Fool to post the link). Moderator please assist if this post should be moved to GSP forum, thanks.

Since my reception location will be in Greer, SC, I have suggested commentary in the Greenville-Spartanburg thread would be more appropriate if anyone chooses to respond. Thank you.

Are you talking about the main WAXN-64 (RF50)? The 64.9 translator has been off the air due to technical problem, and you may be just out of range for the main 64.1. But WSOC-CR 9.9 is still working. Do you get main WSOC 9.1 (RF34) or WCCB-18.1 (27)? They are stronger signals than 64, but you are still in the fringe.

I'm sure that all those ads help keep the lights burning at TV stations across the country, as do the zillion ads for Medicare supplement and advantage plans. Though the political ads will bite the dust, we'll have to endure a ton of Medicare ads until the enrollment change cutoff date, Dec. 7th (even after Pearl Harbor Day, Humana will run an occasional ad trying to entice newbies just turning 65).

Yes, I guess most of us are tired of all the political ads. But people should get out an vote today!

One thing that's a mystery to me is the following. I live in the 13th congressional district of NC. And all I've seen for congress are ads for R Ted Budd and D Kathy Manning. But since I watch TV OTA, how is it that these individuals are the only ones I seem to notice on the political ads?

In other words, because I am watching OTA, no one really knows my location (unlike paid TV). So how are those ads getting targeted to me with the exclusion of other candidates in other congressional districts? The 13th congressional districts includes only 'part' of the Charlotte and Greensboro TV markets.

The mess in the 13th was thought to be very competitive. So, no expense has been spared.
By Wednesday, the voters will have decided how many children have been defiled and killed, and how many billions of dollars have been stolen by each candidate.
Such as this does help keep OTA TV going. We should be grateful for every crime our candidates commit.

For the record, OTA stations are the same on pay providers in the USA as they are OTA. Exactly the same. Providers are not allowed to insert their own ads on locals so what you see OTA is the same as you'll see on cable, satellite, etc. Same tickers, same ads, same everything for everyone. Your location has nothing to do with the ads, it's strictly the station. Targeted ads are only on regular "cable" channels like ESPN, Discovery, CNN, etc.

Not quite...Spectrum and Charter do split feeds via fiber for a large number of OTA stations...we use a dedicated server to roll over the OTA ad with a different one, as the OTA ad is a promo offer not offered to existing subs. It's treated as a separate inventory buy from the OTA spot. Same advertiser, but a different spot.

What is my hope of picking up Stadium Sports in the Kings Mountain - Shelby area? Looks like my two options are WLOS-4 (13.4 ) or WVEB LD-3 (40.3). Not sure which would be easier to pickup.

*Edit, should have included that I'm using this attenna: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...ustomerReviews

As the reviews state, the included amplifier is useless and reception is better without using it.

Currently the antenna is on my second story deck, and I can't pickup either station when aiming toward them.
