I'm happy, I get WCCB very well. Might be time to invest in that TiVo and record, record, record... WMYT is my problem station.

I notice signals are good right now, wonder if that's because the leaves are off the trees?

WGHP (FOX in Greensboro) http://www.myfox8.com/entertainment/antennatv/ shows that Antenna TV is on Ch. 8.2. It is out of range for me (67 mi), but some of you fellows on the NE side of Charlotte should be able to receive Greensboro and give us an opinion about Antenna TV.

All these new oldies channels are like candy dangling just out of reach, whetting my appetite!

WBTV jumps from its virtual channel number to its real channel number for a few seconds several times a week. Anybody know why this happens and why so often?

FOX has done this on rare occasions, jumping from 18.1 to 27.1, then back to 18.1, but WBTV is the only channel where this occurs frequently.

This morning at 10:02 AM, for example, I was watching the start of Bat Masterson on 3.2 when the channel number flashed 23.1. When it jumped back, rather than going back to 3.2, it went to 3.1.

Every time this happens I lose the "Favorite Channel" designation for 3.1 and 3.2 and have to go to my TV's menu and reestablish it.

I don't watch channel 18's news, but I seem to remember this guy from HGTV or something. In any case I might tune in for a while to see how it changes.

I know what you mean. Yesterday I caught a little of RTV on WHKY which was coming in well for some reason. There must have been a band opening because later it was gone.

I think I've answered my own question. Assuming you can believe anything on wikipedia.

Says coming February 1, 2011 to WCCB I'm on top of the Blue Ridge in Ashe County near West Jefferson at about 3300 ft in elevation. Must be a straight shot to the primary tower of WCCB as I usually am at 95% signal on my Sony Bravia. I couldn't have ask for this to be put on a stronger channel for me. I also am able to pull in WGHP in High Point at around 75% signal, so I have Antenna TV as well. Now if I only could get the digital signal from WHKY.

Yes, it's trueWCCB's 24/7 Weather service will be replaced with MeTv on February 1st.. There just isn't enough bandwidth to carry everything without compromising our High-Definition signal..which we are unwilling to do.

However, WCCB-WX will still be available via several alternate methods:

18-3 MeTv will have additional audio services (SAP) that will have the NWS audio. Toggling your receiver's audio language will provide NWS Charlotte and Rock Hill.

WCCB Mobile: There is a data stream in our air signal that can be extracted with the new ATSC M/H receivers..as well as with a laptop or PC and a cheap software package. See the following links for how-to:

http://www.mobile-dtv-viewer.com/

http://www.openmobilevideo.com/about-mobile-dtv/

WCCB-WX will also be available in the near future via Streaming Video as well.

And lastly.. the service will be continue to be carried on Time-Warner Cable for "free".

I show to be 85.0 miles away and as I said, Fox Charlotte is one of my strongest channels. Come on February 1.

Me-TV is almost here and speculation about Antenna TV is nice. But, what about that repeater for WHKY, reported in this forum a few months back as under construction at WTVI's tower in Charlotte. Is this still alive and, if so, is there any word on timing?

I'd be interested in this information too. I seem to remember this project was originally supposed to be done last fall. Good news about channel 18 and ME TV. I don't understand why the other channel owners in Charlotte haven't done more in this arena.

Are these subchannels not intended to be revenue generators? Some have advertising and some don't. If they had good programming that people would watch, and supported by advertising, it would seem they could be profitable for the main station to some degree. I would definitely watch Antenna TV and MeTV if I ever have access to a channel that carries them. And here is where 46.2 and 55.2 should step up and offer something other than duplications of their main channels. And would like to see 36.2 offer something a bit more exciting than the LW programming that I just don't watch.
