Nothing is wrong with WCAU's signal. They completed their work on time and is currently the strongest Philly UHF signal.

If you are getting WPSG at 100%, you definitely should be getting KYW too. They come from the same temporary location on WPVI's former-analog tower and have a nearly identical signal pattern to WPSG.

Werid things like that can happen if there's a problem with some of your antenna's elements or something further down the line like a failing pre-amp. There's also some great atmospheric boost activity tonight, so that could be a reason for temporarily losing some of them. Like right now I'm picking up WUND from Edenton, NC and WMPT from Annapolis, MD.

Not so quick @KyL416 - I too get WPSG but not KYW. I'm about 5 miles north of Exton.

I had been getting KYW perfectly since I installed my antenna. It all changed after the repack. There's no way KYW can be at full power yet.

I'm in Ludwigs Corner. No problems here with KYW. I watch every their news OTA every morning. (Can't beat Traffic with Chandler Lutz!!)

I live in Spring City near Pennhurst. I get KYW but the signal is still much weaker than before the repack.

I live in a small valley near Pickering Creek. I used to get KYW perfectly, but nothing since the repack.

It used to be my strongest signal. They must still be at reduced power.

I never said it was full power. What I said was that the interim signal comes from the same location and has nearly the same signal pattern as WPSG's interim signal, with a slight difference in power because WPSG's signal is 18 MHz higher than KYW's.

The person I replied to said they are currently getting WPHL and WPSG at a 100% signal level and KYW and WCAU at a 10% signal level, so unless something else is going on with their setup, they should also be getting KYW at a much higher level than just 10%, and WCAU should be coming in just as strong, if not stronger, than all of them.

Now if your reception of WPSG is currently marginal, it's possible to get that and not KYW or vice/versa. The pattern of the interim signals are also focused to the south, so areas to the north will have weaker reception than people to the east and west of the signal. I did a quick search for Pickering Creek at rabbitears, KYW's and WPSG's interim signals are in the "poor" range, but when the final signals go live they will be the two strongest UHF signals in the area. WPPX's signal will improve too, but they'll still remain in the "poor" range because they have a weird pattern to protect other neighboring RF 34 channels.

Tonight I can now get 10.x, 17.x, 29.x, 57.x. 3.x (KYW) is very low and 61.x is slightly better but I know KYW is not back to full power yet. Not sure what happened, but glad most of them are now back. Before the repack, KYW was my strongest Philly station.

Assuming KYW is still on its side-mounted temp antenna, it's got a directional pattern that isn't at all kind to viewers to the NW and N of Roxborough. Don't know where you're located, but remember its not just power but antenna pattern that determines reception. Their final facility will be omnidirectional and ~4dB more power, so it will be back like before, it's just a matter of when (hopefully toward the end of the year).

And depending on the terrain twixt you and Roxborough, the antenna height could be a third factor - permanent antenna will be 326 feet higher.

I’d suggest adding a pre-amp. I’m much farther north than you (about 70 miles away) and KYW comes in great. I’m using a DB-8 antenna with a channel master 7777 pre-amp. Without the pre-amp, I couldn’t pick up anything from Philly.

Wilbur and BWeston, see where you are on this plot (click on small green plot to enlarge): http://transition.fcc.gov/fcc-bin/tvq?facid=25453
If you're at 350 degrees, you're only down 2dB, but if you're at 310 or 20 degrees, you're down 4.6dB. That being said, a pre-amp CAN help (I use a truly ancient CM Spartan 2 model 0068C on my UHF antenna), especially if your downfeed is long and/or lossy.

I'm 108 degrees. I have an outdoor antenna that worked perfectly until the repack.

I have a Winegard pre-amp, but I ordered a Channel Master 7700HD from Amazon to give it a shot.

I show in greenish blue on the tvfool map

You're at 108 degrees from Roxborough or Roxborough is at 108 degrees from you?

If the former and you're in PA, the furthest you could be is somewhere between the TB bridge and the BR bridge in NE Philly and at the peak of the signal. Something is very wrong if you are not receiving it there.

If the latter, that puts you at around 290 on the map and down to about half power in your direction. You're not totally in the null, but depending on how far out you are and the terrain the signal could be marginal. Use this excellent tool: https://www.rabbitears.info/searchmap.php to plot your location and then click on the "Transmitter Distance (Miles)" for KYW to see a terrain map.

Note that rabbitears.info appears to be documenting the permanent antenna and not the temporary one, so disregard the numbers and coverage map for now and just look at the terrain map.

going to be awhile until this shakes out sigh..

For any interested here is my response from kyw, I do appreciate the info, from them, just wish it wouldn't take months i was hoping it would be like channel 10 moved and back at full power.

"hanks for reaching out. Our Engineering department explains that we have moved to a temporary antenna position that is not as strong as our former site and some viewers may not be able to pick us up right now – especially viewers impacted by certain site lines or those more than 40 miles outside of the city. The good news is that we will be moving to a more permanent antenna position that will greatly improve our reception- unfortunately that new tower won’t be ready until early 2020. In the meantime, viewers impacted may need to explore alternate ways to receive our signal. "

We'll be rescanning for WHYY (Phase 9) and getting the full power stations at the same time. How convenient is that?

WNJS/WNJT before and after 9pm

I get it, WNJT/WNJS are at reduced power. Still, I was reliably tuning in before 9 pm yesterday and lost all signal after 9 pm. What is the point of reducing the power at night if you are already at reduced power? I don't get that.

No TV station reduces power except in the case of technical issues. You were more likely experiencing atmospheric effects, either diminishing WNJS, or bringing another signal in on that channel and knocking it out.

Just scanned again. KYW is still out. But I do get 6, 10, 17, 29, 51, 65.
Lost since repack: 3, 23, 57, 69
I've never been able to get: 2, 4, 12.

Update - tried the ChannelMaster pre-amp. I actually lost channels, so I'm back to my old Winegard.

Sending the ChannelMaster back - just didn't work for me.

Well that's disappointing! I notice that the CM 7700HD is a 75ohm input device; thus you must have a 300ohm-to-75ohm balun and a piece of RG-6 cable between your antenna and the preamp. Have you considered that either or both of those components or their connections may have degraded from the weather? I use a 300ohm input preamp (thus only a short piece of twinlead between the antenna and the preamp) which eliminates the additional source of possible signal loss. Does your Winegard also have a 75ohm input? Did you try both the low and high gain settings on the 7700HD?

Also, you might look at the products Mr. Kitz offers here: http://kitztech.com/ . They have pretty impressive noise figures. I've been using one of the indoor models as a distribution amp for probably 20 years, but the weatherproof ones for 10 bucks more seem like a super deal.

In Central NJ I also lost 3, 57 (0 signal), 61 has signal but very low (10%). I get 10, 12, 17, 23, 29, 44, 52, 62 & 65 without issue. I do not get 6 because I only have a Hi-VHF/UHF antenna. Hope they get this straightened out before this evening. Since the repack there has been nothing but issues with the NY and Philly OTA stations!

I apparently missed the outage, but they all seem back strong now in Lower Bucks PA - averaging 31dB SNR on my Sony TV.

I get 57 & 61, but just like 17 and 3 they are subject to in-and-out behavior. They can be playing fine for a while then all of a sudden they start to break up or go out altogether. Sometimes they come back for a while -- or not.

I'm only 20mi from the towers. When will it end . . . .
