I just moved to San Angelo. I am only here for 6 months then back to Iowa where I already have all of my HD channels on DirecTV, but for the time being, it looks like I am SOL.

Has anyone had any luck with getting a waiver for distant networks? I'm guessing no, though my installer yesterday said that he has seen several people that do have distant networks on some, just not all of the channels, but who knows.

I am able to get FOX, NBC, and CBS, all in HD OTA but it appears as if there is not ABC HD around here, is that correct?

Have they started to broadcast them in HD yet? And does this include ABC?
Thanks for any info.

The chances of getting HD for local channels appears as remote as ever.

We are very very...one more...VERY...low in terms of priority about a lot of things...
HD local channels....
broadband...(i.e., FIOS, etc, etc.)...
etc, etc.

I guess we should just be glad to have television at all out here. LOL

kearney, I am unable to pick up ABC on my off-air antenna. I still haven't seen a firm ETA for Dish to push out HD locals. I've been a Dish customer for many years and reside in the Southland area near Sam's Club. I've been fed up with the poor quality of the locals for quite some time, so last June I decided to pick up a cheap bowtie antenna and amp to put in my attic.

I attached a spare dish mast roughly 7' high on a rafter and mounted the antenna to it.

Power levels:

KSAN: 98-100
KIDY: 72-75 (on a good day, but varies due to KIDY's low power xmitter)
KLST: 88-90

Rumor has it (posted on SatelliteGuys.US) that San Angelo HD networks on DISH Network will be turned on 8/11. No idea if that is all the major networks (CBS/FOX/NBC/ABC), but be on the lookout for it.

Thanks for the posting. I live in Brady, Texas.

I see locals for the following network affiliates:

FOX KIDY Dish 5273
CBS KLST Dish 5271
NBC KSAN Dish 5272

But, I do not see ABC (KTXE) available on my local guide. Are we not going to receive ABC in HD? It shows on the Dish Network Web Local Channel Guide as 5270; however, it is not populating and is not showing availability.

Thank you.

Wow, Chris Franco never got a reply to this. I am trying to find someone in the Midland/Odessa area that gets OTA TV also and has the ability to tune the channels with a computer and USB DTV tuner or similar. An acquaintance in Lubbock posted on the Odessa AVSForum about a month ago a request for a contact and nothing yet. The Midland/Odessa TV market must be in the middle of nowhere.

Antennas - Antennacraft MXU59 UHF antenna & home-brew version of Antennacraft VHF Y-10-7-13 antenna @ 25'. Both antennas fed through a Channel Master 7777 30dB pre-amp.
Tuners - Zenith DTT901 converter box; AirSpy HF+ sdr; Silicon Dust HDHomerun Dual ATSC tuner, using Rabbitears autologger support.
