You are absolutely correct. HDR did not kick in. I player around with ffmpeg and converting it to and HDR mp4 file and while some scenes looked great, the reds were totally blown out.

I've noticed quite a few HDR titles on Vudu have had the ability to rent removed from them like focus, Jupiter ascending, and heart of the sea to name a few. Weird part is they've got dates saying available to rent in October...

Hmm. Maybe next month Vudu is planning to relaunch their uhd section in October along with the rumored HDR 10 support?

It appears that thus far, LUCY HDR10 BD is the highest bitrate disc with a whopping 88 Mbps. This might explain why so many people said Lucy was one of the few movies they preffered the HDR10 version over the DV version.

A couple of HDR additions:

Transparent season 3 on Amazon

"Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children 4K BD" has a listing on amazon but no preorder yet. This is a FOX movie and supposedly has a 4k DI, so this one could be reference material.

Why is it though that some movies go up on pre-order for $19.99 like Labyrinth, others for $25 like Independence Day Resurgence, but titles like this go up on pre-order at MSRP? There must be a reason.

Labyrinth was $34.99 when the preorder 1st popped up.

If you don't believe me, the price was discussed back in April/may here:

Is the list price amazon posts the same as MSRP? I'm just wondering why some are $39.99 and others $34.99 and how some movies are selling for $29.99 at retail and others for $24.99 and how come pre-order pricing varies so much. It's not just Amazon, BestBuy has some different pricing structures as well.

Anyone else that owns a Vizio TV get the email with the free redemption of Mad Max: Fury Road in Dolby Vision? I would never buy this movie but since I got it for free, I redeemed it.

I was shocked, I expected them to arrive later than they would have with Amazon. I used the Fox Connect email newsletter discount to save 20%, so I even beat Amazon on price.

I just don't understand why most women love to look at beautiful flowers, sunsets, pretty pictures etc., but when it comes to a beautiful picture on the TV, can't tell/don't care about the difference between a VHS movie and a HDR UHD blu ray!!

I watched the UHD HDR version of Turtles 2 and thought the movie was great, certainly better than the first. I did notice some blocking (not sure of the correct word). Anyone else notice this? It was evident on light areas of the screen like when viewing the clouds in the sky. Is it because of my calibration settings? I have backlight set at 100% so maybe this? The only time I've noticed this before was on "The Peanuts Movie".

I missed that. I can't say that I look for their emails though? Is the discount still valid? If so i would order Apocalypse and First Class from Fox connect, and cancel my Amazon order. EVen though I would most likely get it after the release date.

Sweet!! I got a coupon and ordered First Class, Apocalypse, and Ice Age Collision Course. I guess it won't ship until 10/11 because of ICe AGe. But with the discount, it's easily worth it.

As I've done in the past, I unplugged the Samsung UHD player and then plugged back and the posterization seems to be gone now. I seem to have a faulty UHD player and don't know if it's too late to get it replaced but I'll try.

Unlikely since I already replaced the HDMI cable. Don't think the odds are high that two cables in a row would be bad but I guess it could happen?

Contacts could be partially corroded on either end, despite the hoopala about gold plated. Try removing and reinserting several times.
By changing cables do you mean the same brand and length, or different brand? Are they High Speed 18Ghrtz cables>

Ok, I just changed it for a 3rd time. This time I'm sure it's 18Gpbs because it's this cable:

https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I already got a shipping label from Samsung to service center but I guess I'll wait a week or so to see if anything changes?

I don't see anything at the link you provided to lead me to believe that Ysimda HDMI cables are Premium Certified Cable since it is missing the anti-counterfeiting label as shown at the bottom of this post. Also the customer feedback left alot to be desired with over half of the 7 reviews ranking it 2 stars or less.

You might want to consider Blue Jeans Cable instead which have been certified for lengths up to 15 feet. Or for an even better price MonoPrice certifies their cables for up to 20 feet.

For more information on the certification program I would suggest a visit to the HDMI.org website.
