I can post new science to refute everything you've said about 4k viewing distances, but this isn't the place

Science is rubbish because it has to explain everything, put everybody into a section or a pigeon hole, statistics are the same, i'm not a number i am a unique human being and what i perceive is not what the person next to me does, accept it. I have a medical regularly for my job, the medical examiner 'always' remarks on what good eyesight i have have, from anywhere in my living room (even the back wall) i can tell you what native resolution i am watching, what color space it is what frame rate it is, whatever it is i can see it and that's that, i had a guy fitting a window once i stood back and told him the window was down on one side by about 3mm and he argued and argued till he put the spirit level back on and we concluded i was right.

Anyone looking for some impressive eye candy, it starts right out of the gate with episode 1. I'd say it's in the same league as grand tour, but with no cars

Hdr is much more obvious than resolution. I can tell the difference between hdr and sdr from very long distances but not the little details from increased resolution.

Lol I didn't know there were many like me. I'm crazy about symmetry and everything has to be equal height, distance and spaced perfectly.
I measure and remeasure everything and I can always tell something is off by even a few millimetres when everyone else thinks it is level or flush.
I even come home from a haircut and fix my hair if it's not even. So when someone tells me I can't see or perceive something because some chart says so, I beg to differ!

Hi

Have you guys watched recent 4k release of The Town, Goodfellas, Argo? How is the PQ improvement over 1080p? There are no stock in amazon.ca and bestbuy.ca.

I know what OCD is and I don't have it. I care when it's something I own. Don't give a crap about other people's things or anything that I don't have a stake in.
I also don't care about things that don't bother me visually.

I'm about to fire up the app for the first time and watch something when I get home. What's the quality like? I heard they rate the highest quality 4K content as "Platinum." How does it compare to other streaming services?

Extremely compressed. I tried it last year and every dark scene was macroblocked.

Also has 2.1 audio and no longer has the quality rankings such as gold/platinum.

Netflix has really stalled with their HDR content, only 7 shows in HDR is pathetic.

I have watched both GOODFELLAS and ARGO on UHD-BD and both show improved PQ. Detail uptick is present, but not a massive leap. It's the color and dynamic range improvement that is most apparent and clearly better than the standard BD. I have no need for the 1080p versions anymore.

Anyone else notice that HDR on Netflix looks pretty mediocre compared to other sources? It barely adds anything to the picture quality.

Depends on what show you look. The only one that look really nice is Chefs Table France.

Daredevil looks pretty excellent too. Looks to me like it was shot with HDR in mind. I think ultimately the problem with Netflix is that there isn't nearly enough content.

Daredevil looks "meh" in HDR. Only things on Netflix that look decent in HDR are Chefs Table and The Do Over.
