Me too!! Only 9:30AM Saturday morning. I love that they have reserve seating now at the AMC theater near me with the Dolby Vision and IMAX theaters.

I'm sure I'll also pick up Logan when it comes out on UHD BD.

Dolby Cinema is awesome, I watched Star Wars Rogue One and it was incredible - picture + sound both a huge step up from normal experience

Nope, none of the coming soon ones at all either.

Nothing announced that's anywhere remotely close to southwestern PA.

Logan was awesome in HDR. Those of you who don't have access to a Dolby Cinema location will surely enjoy it when it releases for home. Not only was it great clarity with some very nice HDR scenes but it is a fantastic movie as well. If anyone doubted Hugh Jackman's range as an actor, I think this movie can solidify his legitimacy. Plus the Atmos audio was great too.

Here in the UK there are tiny number of Dolby sound cinemas spread thinly across the country, but dolby vision - no, one private screening room in their london office. It will be many years before that is even rarely available here.

That's great to hear. It was a really good movie, but I couldn't tell whether it would be a good candidate for HDR or not.

The night scenes had great detail and the neon signs in the beginning really popped. The colors were fantastic overall. There are a couple scenes with nice highlights but nothing too flashy.

agreed. Film was awesome in Dolby Cinema HDR, and Jackman's performance was, dare I say, an early Oscar contender.

I know that may sound crazy to some being that this was a comic book movie, but it was truly a moving film, much like the comics were when I read them as a kid and young man.

The film is a must see, and a must own when released in 4K HDR.

The 60 FPS was obvious and much different.

But there were definitely some scenes where it seemed like it wasn't quite as sharp as I expected. Could this be a result of the bitrate not being high enough for 60 FPS content?

One would assume that 60 FPS content would require a bitrate roughly 3X as high as comparable 24 FPS content, no?

No, only an uncompressed copy would be 3x as high. It's actually not a very large jump in bitrate because with video compression you work off the delta between frames. Higher framerate means less changes between each frame which means you don't have to bump up the bitrate as high. I'm sure someone has done an actual comparison of this but my guess is it's somewhere in the ballpark of 50-75% more bitrate to go from 24 to 60fps (also really depends on the content, if it's mainly talking heads it would be even lower)

The chemistry between Jackman and Stewart was nothing short of incredible to me. The girl, Dafne Keen doesn't have many speaking parts but she has a good on screen presence and really fits the role well I think. They couldn't have sent off their respective characters any better IMO.

Agreed with others, Logan was such a treat to watch as a long time fan. Acting by Jackman was unnerving and there were some excellent light moments in the movie as well. It was pretty much like a comic-book come to life.

Picture was miles ahead for a theater image - It began with a sweet promo of Dolby Cinema, which showcased the difference between run-of-the-mill cinema quality and Dolby and loved the last bit where the screen goes completely black, as in FULL BLACK and then a msg pops up saying "Yes the screen is still on". Also caught the new DeadPool trailers in Dolby, looked smashing.
Movie was not scorching bright but rather very natural looking; where brights were very bright, and blacks were inky in the same frame. I don't think there was a lot of range for colors but HDR could be taken a notch up on brighter TVs at home.

Sound was actually even better than the picture. One word "Thunderous" - some of the environmental nuances shook the entire hall as well gun shots and crashes and booms. Def. getting this on UHD when it comes out.

Best,

OK, now a change to Netflix rhetoric. When viewing their offerings, you now have 3 options. 1-Ultra HD 4K, 2-HD, or 3 HDR. IMO HD looks more like HDR! Fantastic! Anyone else noticed this, or is yours truly late to the game!

I'm waiting for the disc. But I did see this at Dolby Cinema. As you may recall, it had that same kind of drab aesthetic like the other David Yates directed Potter movies. But whenever one of the beasts was on screen, especially inside the case, the color and contrast improved dramatically. I can't wait to see it again on my display.

Sound was actually even better than the picture. One word "Thunderous" - some of the environmental nuances shook the entire hall as well gun shots and crashes and booms. Def. getting this on UHD when it comes out.
Just watched this one as well and thought it was good and agree that the sound was better than the video. Just don't know why the powers that be have made so many Wolverine movies when I think there are other much more interesting mutants that they could make movies about than Wolverine?
