For one thing, wolverine is the most famous x-man and the most popular. Secondly the actors playing other characters have ranged from terrible to decent with exception of Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen. Third, of all the x-man characters wolverine has the most interesting and mysterious background. Pretty much everyone else is just born, discovers they are a mutant, and is sent to or invited to the school. Logan has a background that makes a good story with secret government experiments etc.

Actually, Clint Eastwood is musical. He plays the piano, can sing some, and has written some songs. Of course Hugh Jackman is a West End and Broadway musical theater star and has won a Best Actor in a Musical Tony Award.

It is an additional code, as least for Sing, that redeems on Fandango. Also, if you buy the regular Blu-Ray version, you get the UHD code. I can confirm it redeems UHD on Fandango. It has not shown up in my UV library yet, and I redeemed about an hour ago. The code unlocks a credit on Fandango, so you still have to purchase Sing on Fandango for $0.00. I'm not sure how Passengers works with Sony.

Looks pretty amazing on Blu-Ray, pretty bright movie with good contrast. Not a very colorful movie but that's intentional... reminds me of Oblivion.

New 4k Blu ray "rumors" but likely?

Waiting for 2nd confirmed sources for these but recently posted to foxconnect.com was these, using BD covers still though:

May 9th:

Rise of the Planet of The Apes

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes

Also, there seems to be conflicting info on the recent movie "Split" coming to 4k. press releases have not mentioned it, but a UK site put it up for pre-order recently. Its possible that for some reason it gets UK release only, meaning itll have to be imported if you want it. Will keep an eye out though.

We purchased Sing from Vudu last weekend and was very impressed. HDR really shined in the closing credits number with dancing colorful squid against a black background. Truly breathtaking on my LG B6.

grayspeak8bhdr_.mkv is apparently missing in action. 849M is too big for an attachment to a posting, and I don't use any large file programs.
It will up to Tom Roper as to what he's doing with the file.
Mr. Roper made a revision to it. THIS post of his has the updated link for grayspeak8bhdr_.mkv (download link).
The download link for the "NEW" file in the first post needs updating.

Sigh, maybe in 10 years or so there the lone AMC theater out here will be upgraded.

Theaters have been a pretty big disappointment to me ever since I got my C6 OLED just for this reason. Black level on traditional theater (even top of the line brand new Cinemark XD screens) is atrocious. I've been spoiled by perfect blacks for even run of the mill TV, seeing light gray in a theater is just a letdown when you are spending $12 bucks for a movie.

I fully share you sentiment; ever since I got my KS9800, I hated going to the theater to watch movies in mediocre quality and pay $30+ (wife included) and so stopped for a while. Hated 3D movies even more as they were so bleak and color-less looking. But since the opening of the Dolby Cinema, I'll start spending my money there again. Pre-selected middle recliner-seats help a ton as well. Kudos to Dolby for such a innovative move!

Forbes Review Planet Earth II

Forbes Review of Planet Earth II:

https://www.forbes.com/sites/johnarc.../#31ed93fe1b67

From Review

" I’m not talking here, either, about small, momentary HDR peaks and highlights. The intense HDR highlights regularly dominate the majority of the frame rather than small parts of it, showcasing HDR’s ability to present more lifelike images - especially daylight exteriors - more successfully than any other 4K Blu-ray title to date.

The routinely high level of average image brightness in the transfer could, I guess, challenge HDR-capable TVs that struggle to maintain high levels of HDR brightness across large areas of their screens. But I’m not about to go blaming Planet Earth II for the potential failings of TV makers."

Iron fist is coming to Netflix next week (Friday), can we expect it to be in HDR on day 1 since it's the first Marvel's show filmed with HDR in mind ?

I thought Sneaky Pete was good stuff. Don't know how you feel about noir but if it appeals to you at all, I would recommend Harry Bosch on Amazon. The first two seasons were amazing and Season 3 is "Coming Soon." Highest recommendations for any fan of film noir.
