I spoke too soon. I just tried watching a couple of 4k Sony movies on the Ultra app and it's not appearing correctly. The video is zoomed at about 25 - 50% so that you can't see the whole picture. So it appears that the 4k Sony Ultra movies are still not working correctly on any device besides some Sony TVs.

When was the app updated on the Shield? Maybe it means an HDR10 announcement will happen soon.

Is this for the old Shield or new Shield? I have the first Shield and would love if it could play HDR10 from VUDU. As of now it plays UHD with no HDR.

This Forum is becoming TOTALLY redundant!
This FORUM is a Listing about HDR Movies, and their PQ, and other attributes - good or bad.
Not a techie parade about things not relevant to the listing! Take techie issues to the appropriate Forums!
If lucky, maybe ONE movie makes it per page!

Does anyone with the new ATV own Blade Runner(The Final Cut) in DV? I’m wondering if it’s worth buying for ten bucks.
Thanks.

Completely agree. I hardly come by anymore. Can’t the mods clean up the thread and put people on official warnings?

Yes, I do have that title. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend it due to the very elevated black levels. I compared it against my UHD-BD copy to confirm I wasn't going crazy and it is indeed way off. It is the first title I have tried that is significantly different than its physical counterpart. I watched in HDR10, but numerous others with DV capable sets have remarked similarly regarding the black levels. At this point I can only hope they fix it.

You need to realize that when these things happen, they stem from someone talking about their experiences about a particular title. These are absolutely relevant discussions, in most cases. The mods do come in here and it gets really annoying when they keep deleting relevant discussions imo.

If you're only in here for the list, it's there on the first post. It will be updated when OP is able. Beyond that it should be easy to tune out any part of the discussion you don't care for.

I had to refuse from the USPS and call them again when it got back to the warehouse in order to get the credit.
BB seems to be picking up on the same Walmart tactics where they're now telling me I can't cancel my order for "War for the Planet of the Apes". I cancelled it but it stays at "Pending Cancellation" just like Walmart even though it's almost 3 weeks before it's released. I even spoke with a supervisor and she said she couldn't cancel either because it's been accepted by the warehouse. I will no longer be placing any pre-orders at BB as well as Walmart. I guess they think that if they don't let us cancel, we'll change our minds?

Which device are you using?

For example, my main TV only currently does HDR so if I use the built in app, everything shows as HDR. If I use my Apple TV 4K, everything shows as Dolby Vision and then is converted to HDR10.

In short, yes it does show both but it depends on the device and your configuration.

I'm using the LG C7 OLED Netflix app which supports both Dolby Vision and HDR...so it should be displaying both formats since that's what my TV supports...I would like to know which is standard HDR and which is Dolby Vision...so that means they are labeling some content as being Dolby Vision which is not correct

Only Bosch season 2 is DV there. And about 8-10 Sony movies (for purchase/rent).

If your set supports DV and displays DV, it should be DV.

For content that doesn't have a DV encode, it should fall back to HDR. From me experience, nothing has been incorrect.

with Netflix all HDR/DV content is being labeled as being Dolby Vision which is incorrect...DV is a better version of HDR...it would have made more sense for them to just label everything as HDR

What do you mean incorrect? That is because the content you are seeing is encoded with Dolby Vision...

It would not have made more sense because there are a few titles that are HDR and don't have DV metadata... Those that don't have DV metadata are labeled HDR.

I honestly don't see where the problem is here.

can you name a title on Netflix that is HDR and not DV...I will go look it up on my LG and see if it is labeled as HDR...my point is that Amazon labels all applicable content as being either HDR or Dolby Vision (or just 4K with neither)...I haven't tried watching any Netflix HDR/DV content yet, so maybe when it actually plays my LG will correctly display it as being HDR (the LG has a pop-up that shows up on the top right corner identifying it as HDR or Dolby Vision)...but I'm talking about just the label next to the name of the movie/TV show before actually playing the content

Most HDR content on netflix is available in Dolby Vision, and will trigger the Dolby Vision mode of your TV. This is correct, as Dolby Vision is viewed as the superior format over HDR10, so there's no reason for it to choose HDR10 instead. There may be a few HDR10-only titles but I'm not aware of what they are if so. For those titles, it will not display Dolby Vision next to the title name on the Netflix menu, nor will it trigger DV mode on the TV.

if this is true I'm surprised that Netflix has most of its content in DV over HDR...I know DV is the superior format but it's very slow to being widely adopted...with Amazon HDR is much more common versus DV...I still would like someone to name an HDR only title on Netflix so I can look if it's displaying properly on my LG

Well I do know that have an HDR test pattern available as separate entries for HDR10 and DV. If you search HDR, and click on the HDR search suggestions it will show you all titles in DV/HDR, and that test pattern should be on there somewhere too.

just a guess on my part but I think that Netflix has applicable titles all in Dolby Vision for those that have sets that support it (hence the reason it shows only 'Dolby Vision' for me)...but for people that only have sets that support HDR (don't have DV compatible sets) it shows as 'HDR'...just in case I still don't make sense, I'm referring to the little icon next to the name of the movie/TV show in the Netflix menu...there's an 'HDR' icon and a 'Dolby Vision' one

Also, I believe there is one show (can't remember what) that is DV and 60fps, and the 2016 LG OLEDs don't support Dolby Vision at 60fps, so it shows up as HDR10 for that title.
