Now...do I sell it and get a Roku instead, and pocket $100 difference? I do kind of like the ATV, but I really wouldn't use it for anything other than HDR movies (and maybe multicasting ESPN occasionally).

I don't want discussion about the boxes themselves, which is off topic, but strictly from an HDR content availability, is there a strong enough reason to keep the Apple TV? I didn't have any iTunes movies to get the upgrade, but I do appreciate that some of their rentals are cheaper, and iTunes HD codes can be had cheaper and upgrade to UHD. But it would take me a while to rent enough to make up that difference. And the Roku has at least some Youtube HDR compatibility (but I read it's sketchy).
One advantage iTunes has over Vudu is Fox support. It's possible now that Vudu has HDR10, Fox will start releasing UHD on Vudu, but who knows when that will be?

And I'm not aware of the current status, but isn't the ATV4k supposed to get Vudu UHD support as well?

I would definitely be surprised if VUDU UHD support didn't come to the ATV. That said, I really want it on the Shield (Android TV) so I can get HDR10 AND Atmos.

Ah, those are good reasons. I don't know why I assumed it wouldn't, thought it might be a competitive conflict thing. If that's likely, then it probably would make the most sense to keep the ATV. I would have to imagine that they'd be toward the top of the list of getting future HDR apps if HDR comes to HBO Go, Hulu, etc. It is kind of disappointing they don't have Youtube HDR though.

Is it my imagination or did Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children disappear from iTunes? I would swear I own it, but for the life of me I can't find it. When I look in the TV app it simply shows I can watch it on HBO GO/Now.

When did you redeem yours? Will those of us who redeemed prior to Vudu offering GotG2 in UHD be able to upgrade at no cost?

It looks like not all WB UHD titles are available in HDR10, perhaps only some of the newer releases but not the catalog titles. One example is Unforgiven. To check, need to click on the "more info" tab and see if "HDR10" is listed between "4K" and "Dolby Vision".

I also found Princess Bride to have HDR10 and it is a MGM title.

Most of the titles I looked at used to say Dolby Vision. But now they either have a grayed out HDR smbol or have a colored HDR symbol. I was using my Roku to look at them.

Confirmed today Via press release :

"It" is coming January 9th with Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos to 4k Blu Ray.

BTW, I read today that the reason Dolby Vision disc's havent been as widespread yet is because there was only 1 factory to produce those disc's so it came down to 1st come 1st serve contracts. But with more factories now capable, it'll be much more widespread.

On the Nvidia Shield app it doesn't tell you at all, not even under more info. You just have to try playing it to see what happens but it does play HDR10 when it's available.

I had not even tried playing any and just assumed it didn't work since there was no HDR10 logo present. Great to know that it does support it even if the app doesn't properly indicate which titles are applicable.

Just finished Dark Tower. The audio and visual quality are top notch. The movie instelf was just OK. After the first 20 minutes I thought I was really going to enjoy it, and then an hour later you realize the entire middle of the movie adds nothing to the plot and could have skipped straight to the final chapter. It is worth a rent IMO, but there are much better options. The video quality is crystal clear though.

Yes it does, but prior to starting the movie there is no indication of HDR10. I've played Pacific Rim, Sully, Batman v Superman, and The Legend of Tarzan with success on my shield with Atmos and HDR10. Unfortunately for me many of my movies did not redeem in UHD and VUDU refuses to give me the UHD copy claiming that the UV rights weren't for the UHD version. Hopefully going forward, Movies Anywhere will alleviate this problem.

Well, that's disappointing. I'll have mine tomorrow...anyone else have a chance to see these and have similar issues? I'm not necessarily worried about the HDR grade as it might have just been graded conservatively. I've seen that before.

No problem playback issues here. I just watched about 3/4 of episode one to test.

Then I would hazard a guess that it is the Xbox with the issues. Someone in another thread mentioned their Xbox One X having disc read errors and not being able to get Atmos to work without crashing on multiple discs. Seems like Microsoft’s OS and blu-ray software need work.
