HFR / 4K60 is closer to reality than anything 24FPS. What’s fake are TV algorithms and frame interpolation.
Bring it I say. It’ll take some getting used to, but I see HFR as the next big push past 8K.
I hope we see more titles @ 4K60. 4K24 can be an immersion killer, and downright ghetto looking, depending on the content.

I especially hope nature documentaries will go to 60fps, I can't imagine how good something like Planet Earth II would have looked in 60fps.

I did not see Justice League in theaters but felt this might be the intent of the director to not make the movie look super dark like previous entries and a bit lighter and easy on the eyes to compete with Avengers...

Yeah about like that but not as dark overall. There are some very impressive highlights with bold colors inside them. Particularly in the fight scenes with deep reds and bright blues. I enjoyed the movie but it somehow felt short for some reason. Audio was good, but not spectacular IMO. It wasn't super aggressive which is probably good for this movie.

Shadow detail and the colors of Cyborg's suit along with the incredible reds of Steppenwolf's axe and brilliant blues of Flash's lightning scream HDR. The movie was just graded rather muted outside of the superhero scenes. It wasn't what I expected but it had its moments.

Absolutely. This title in particular had some major panning issues @ 24FPS. Totally ruined some of the shots.

True, Flash's lightning was electrifying! I had to squint my eyes at times bc of it... I just didnt wanna bring it up cuz of the lightning in that other movie that was deemed so underwhelming and started a flame war between LCDs and OLEDs

I haven't seen Justice League in HDR yet but if it comes anywhere close to BvS, I'll be very happy. I think that movie has fantastic HDR. Here's an example comparison gif I made:

Absolutely agree! I feel that it's getting more important with 4K film as well, when you go from 4K detail to some comparatively terribly small amount in motion just because the frame rate is so low.

I much, much prefer 24fps over anything higher for fictional content. For documentaries, I don't think there's much of a reason to keep it at 24fps, since the benefit of a lower frame rate is all about taking the audience away from reality into a larger-than-life feeling world, and there's no reason to try to convey that sensation in non fiction.

I'm not familiar with the apple 4k tv. does it have Netflix or something? we've got a new 2018 Q8 owner saying hes watching season 1 of Stranger things in HDR through his apple tv but I'm 99.9999% sure season 1 isn't HDR anywhere.

No, Stranger Things isn’t available from iTunes. It’s possible that if he’s a new ATV4k user, he’s got it set to output everything, including SDR, to HDR. There’s a setting somewhere they have to change to match native dynamic range.

IIRC, Stranger Things S1 is in 4K but not HDR.

Yes it has Netflix, but there’s nothing special about it. As the others said I’m guessing the user has it set to 4K HDR and of Netflix doesn’t flag content for SDR then everything would get output in HDR.

The first time I saw it I too was disappointed but the more I watch it the more I really enjoy it.I do think the whole casino bit should of been cut plus that hokey Yoda scene with Luke...a little to much over the top on the humor bits here and there but otherwise an enjoyable movie in my opinion.I just hope old J.J. can wrap up the trilogy well and go out with a bang.I want to see some epic saber battles in episode 9.

I thought if they cut pretty much the entire Finn storyline, the movie would have been much better. I love how the movie handled Luke, Rey, and Kylo Ren. I know there are some things people didn't like about some of it, but I think the movie was designed to turn things in a new direction, and was very successful at doing so. Basically, TFA was designed to reignite the nostalgia for the original trilogy, to get people in a comfortable place with Star Wars again, and the TLJ was designed to rip them out of that comfort zone, and those choices serve an important purpose with what's happening in the trilogy's arc. Episode 9 should essentially feel like nothing we've seen before in the series, and that has me seriously excited.

For those who have seen the HDR, how is it? Are the black levels really bad, like Nolan's movies were? How are the highlights and color? I ordered the 3D release from overseas so it probably won't be until a 4K trilogy set comes out before I see this in 4K, but if the black levels are bad, I guess I won't be too upset about that. It particularly annoys me when a movie features space scenes and doesn't utilize true black for that. I'm looking at you, Interstellar.

I hope the HDR is good, because if not, that really sucks because the movie has some absolutely gorgeous cinematography.

Decided to do a comparison of Thor's HDR and SDR like the one I did above with Batman v Superman. I chose the scene towards the end with a closeup of Thor's face with lightning. In person, this scene didn't seem all that impressive, but comparing the two, it seems the SDR grade probably just underwhelming compared to what they could have done, so the HDR in comparison does actually look noticeably better, but again, this didn't really wow me in motion like other movies have.

Spoiler!

Ok, I was thinking something was wrong with my settings for a minute. This movie is a mixed bag for me. It's the first movie I can really tell different cameras were used for different scenes. Some scenes look impeccable with sharpness and colors while others look fuzzy and drab. I had high hopes for the look of this movie with it having a 4k DI, but I'm disappointed. However, the scenes with Snoke in them look incredible!
