Thank you (and thanks also to @Balthazar2k4 ). This seems to be the best way to go, considering it's the full 4K retail package at the best price currently available, plus UHD streaming from Vudu. Much appreciated guys!

In other words for my setup setting the volume to -5dB when watching Vudu via ARC from my TV is about the same level as the BD from my Oppo 203 at -10dB. For whatever reason that may be.
I’ve noticed that with streaming as well. Like you, -10db is my blu-ray level, but when streaming it’s typically -5 to -8

I received both of my previous discs on the date of release. I could just be lucky, but I noticed they shipped well in advance of the street date.

The Crown on Netflix is an interesting show, 3 episodes in so far, plus even with without HDR has great PQ in just 4K almost has that looking through a window effect at certain times! It this 60fps?

I purchased A Quiet Place 4k disc + digital and got the disc yesterday, which also included the digital code. I did the same with Ready Player One. I'll report back when I get that disc. To me it's a no brainer to do this vs. Amazon or Best Buy, since the price is the same as just buying the disc.

Not to stray too off topic, but I’ve always found audio on the streamings services to be a mixed bag. Netflix in generally ok as is VUDU, but I stopped using iTunes until they sort out their audio volume issues. I had to boost Dunkirk +20dB to get it to match the disc, and it still sounded off.

Exactly, disc audio crushes streaming audio for clarity and dynamics, imo.

The more complaints Apple gets, the sooner it will be resolved. Have you contacted Apple Support about the issue? I’ve seen Dev data screenshots showing what you are talking about. iTunes 4k movies Video bitrate is much higher, yet Audio bitrate is much lower compared to Vudu.

Do you happen to have a source/know what those bitrates exactly are? I'm just sort of curious how big of a difference we are talking.

Some receivers will show the audio bitrates. I know my Sony speaker bar does. But I moved it out of my UHD setup when I got an Onkyo Atmos receiver. And the Onkyo doesn't show me the audio bitrates.

Are you sure on the pricing? Seemed like it was at least $4 more expensive for the UHDs for both of those last I checked. If it's actually competitive I will start doing this if they can get the disks delivered on or before release day.

The lowest price amazon had for ready player one was $30. Same price as Vudu disc+digital.

Yes, $24.96 for AQP and $29.96 for RPO. Basically Walmart's pricing.

For superhero fans... Some great news. Huge catalog title got a 4k remaster and is getting a 4k Blu Ray release. The door for older big name classics is definitely being opened with this movie.

Superman The Movie (1978). Coming in November.

iTunes has the Jack Ryan collection (4 movies) for $29.99. I wonder if I should buy now for the 4k upgrade? I've seen iTunes remove some collections (like X-Men) when they went 4k. These are all Paramount so they should have double-dip codes.

I’m starting with the digital versions for these, I bought back when they dropped to $20. I’ll probably still pick up the discs, but can be a bit more patient for the prices to drop. When I get the discs, I can always sell them off to help defray the costs.

You guys convinced me. RP1 is currently selling on Amazon for $38 but I had preorder gurantee at 29.99. I cancelled that and Rampage and got both codes via disk plus digital for the same price as Amazon after tax, free shipping. The codes transferred to my iTunes in 4k and presumably Atmos soon enough via MoviesAnywhere.

I feel dirty for giving money to Vudu, since I have mostly only used codes from then before, but I'll go for the best deal every time.

I don't understand why there has been no announcement for a 4k hdr version of Enter the Dragon... it's traditionally always been one of the first batch of movies released when a new format is conceived.
