Having said that...Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom looked and sounded great but the movie itself was beyond bad. The plot was so dumb with characters making the most boneheaded decisions that it had to be written by children. Then you have Chris Pratt and don't give him any comedic freedom with his character. The whole movie fought too hard for another sequel and the franchise is going deeper and deeper downhill. As Jeff Goldblum's character says in the movie "How many times do you need to see the evidence? How many times must the point be made? We're causing our own extinction." That's how I feel about the Jurassic Park franchise now and I wish I never bought the movie. I felt it was that bad despite what some of my friends told me about it. Then again some of those friends also think a movie like The Hangover is the epitome of cinema so I should have went with my gut lol. Too late now

Anyone check out "Next Gen" on NETFLIX? It's Dolby Vision and Atmos.

It looks extremely grainy, as if they put some fake grain filter over the movie. Pretty underwhelming.

4K (HDR10 on Samsung’ TVs) widescreen 2:35 : 1 aspect ratio as shown in the thumbnail below.

Here’s the scoop from IMDb...

I watched a small bit of ep1 just to see what it looked like and it did seem to have some type of filter on it to me as well. Plus it's not something I think I could really watch anyhow.

I think you are referring to STNG, where NextGen being referred to before is a NetFlix Original.

Yeah I had a double-take just now. To me, for the rest of my life, "Next Gen" will always mean "Star Trek: The Next Generation" .
Also since it was created in 4:3 at the time, it's confusing to call anything "fullscreen" with out the numbers 4:3 or 16:9 for clarity

Yep - STNG for sure - Blu-ray - 4:3. I think I remotely heard of the other one.
It's my wife that watches NetFlix. I only go there a few times like for Lost in Space - new version. Wife watches the old version.

Coming Sooner or in some cases Much Later to Netflix

I know for sure this won’t work on every device but it does on my Samsung Smart TV as well as my Samsung Ultra HD Blu-ray player and other devices I own... but not my Apple TV 4K which still has the old interface so your milage may vary.

If you would like to get a peek into the future, go into the Netflix app, do a Search and type “netflix” as your search phrase and it will list over 180 shows as shown in the first thumbnail.

While a few of these have already started, some of the ones containing cover art are coming soon where you can view a trailer. Most of them however only contain a gray icon with the title on it but if you click the icon you can get a description of the show as shown in the second thumbnail.

In some cases the description indicates that the show will begin airing in 2018, while in other cases 2019 and even 2020.

Haha! Was surprised to see one of my all time favorites showing in Dolby Vision on the Apple TV for $9.99. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, Spaceballs has arrived!😂 I had to buy it for nostalgic purposes.

Edit: Definitely has an 80’s look to it with the grain but I don’t even mind for this movie. Also, Star Wars can take a page from this movie. The opening crawl and space scenes are black! The stars look like they’re leaping from the screen giving the space scenes a nice 3D look!

Yes, yes and it’s been explained over and over why the opening crawl is not true black in Star Wars.

It’s not Apple it’s the distributor of said films. Just like with any digital “store” the studio/distributor can edit, upgrade, downgrade, add or remove and Apple is at their mercy.

Regardless, just another reason I'll keep buying physical media. Viva la physical media!

I don't know why people are always surprised at this. You don't own digital content. As with anything on the internet, nothing lasts forever, so yeah it will go away at some point. That's the reason I don't buy games digital either. Music on the other hand can be purchased and downloaded DRM free so at least they're doing it right. Maybe in the future games and movies will follow suit.

For the foreseeable future I'm sticking with physical media for movies and games.

Not on my end and I don’t see which titles the person had removed either. We’ve seen titles removed and come back and titles missing from the TV section of the 4k&HDR category. Thus far all of my movies are there and the movies that should be 4K HDR still are, even if they are not in the 4K&HDR section.

Over the years I have had a handful of titles disappear on me. Mostly smaller, independent films, but I did lose my copy of The Martian Extended Cut when Fox pulled it from the store. The first time it happened to me was a real eye-opener and it has only reinforced my desire to purchase physical media first and foremost.

In other news Oppo says via Twitter that they are exploring the possibility of adding HDR10+ support to the 203 and 205 in the next few firmware updates. For those of you who have an Oppo UHD player this means you will be covering all the bases for HDR Disc playback.

Since nobody's posted in 3 days lols... I got a question for you guys.

Not sure how many of you recognize me as a regular on the forum and this thread in particular... or read my sparse mini reviews on 4K movies. But I was thinking of starting a YT channel for 4K reviews as I am never satisfied with what a few other ppl bring to the table. Am curious if I should do em and if so whould anybody be interested in watching em lol... guess we really cant know until I actually do one but any advice or suggestions would be tremendously helpful! Thanks guys.

Just to update this story, it seems there may be more to it than the original one we got.

I’d be interested. It’s easier to explain what you are seeing or hearing through speech than it is to type it. At least for me it seems what I want to say doesn’t come through in text.

the story has a much different feel to it when the actual facts are revealed, imagine that.
