that's funny. even though i don't watch netflix on my computer, i use it to manage my queue. if i leave my VPN on from another country, my queue also "deletes" some of my titles until i switch back to something in the USA.

To get around the copyright stuff you can mute the audio or scramble it somehow, cut up the video into pieces so it doesn’t get flagged by the bots. This is what a lot of guys do when they talk about anime and use actual video footage.

Depends on the type of disc I suppose, I'd say multi-layered discs are a lot more fragile. That said, great news about your CDs! And of course they won't have audio that's been "loudness compressed" (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Loudness_war). Full proper high dynamic range CDs!

There are none that I am aware of. I believe Technicolor HDR will be mostly used for OTA/Cable type sources not discs.

I think I have to take back what I said previously about confirming Atmos working in the Prime Video app on my Xbox One S. I was fooled by the stupid way the Xbox works where it wants to output everything in an Atmos container whenever Atmos is enabled in the settings. Unfortunately this makes it impossible to know for sure when you are getting Atmos and when you aren't.

Technicolor does much more than just HDR. Alot of 1080p Blu rays also have technicolor symbols but if course do not have hdr.

Actually early mastered CDs have a known response curve issue, I wish I could remember more, but it came up in the late 90's that there was an issue with 80's masters.

It’s been upgraded for a few months now. I’ve only seen posts on a different forum saying it was good.

Watched my UHD disc (physical copy) of Jurassic World 2 last night. I saw this back in the theater and enjoyed it more my second time viewing. The DV was solid with some nice audio and active surrounds. A fun watch. What can I say? It's a movie about dinosaurs. And who doesn't like dinosaurs?

I think they went off the deep end with this one though. No spoilers but a revelation in the movie that happens about 85% of the way through made zero sense from both a plot perspective and a lore perspective.

Story wise, I feel it's a very close to replication of the first 3 JPs. First ones set in the Jungle with new attractions and public lives in danger. 2nd ones is a mixture of Jungle and City and a militaty operation all the way, and trying to make a few $$. Maybe the next JW will be going back to the Jungle thats almost dead but with a few hidden surprises and trying to rescue someone. Cuz originality is for losers? 😄

I have one on the way. But it's just a low end DV player because I plan to continue using my Sony X800 for HDR10 UHD BDs. (If only I wouldn't have sold my Oppo 203 in favor of the Sony last year )

I originally ordered the LG DV player for a third of the original price with closeout pricing. But then Best Buy erroneously sold it. So then I ordered an open box one. And again they erroneously sold it. So they ended up ordering me a brand new Philips BDP7502 for only $12 more than the open box would have cost. Since they screwed up so badly. The manager tried to give it to me for the same price. But the system would only allow him to lower the price to $72. But I was extremely pleased with the result.

The BDP7502 is supposed to be delivered tomorrow. And then the TCL, 6 Series, DV capable Tv is supposed to be delivered on Saturday.

Yeah, ok. Here's one opinion - we don't have enough different HDR standards, dolby vision is clearly rubbish and they should give up, and what the world is screaming out for is another new HDR standard. Things are much too clear and threads are boring: no-one is ever confused between HDR10, HDR10+ and Samsung's "HDR+" picture SDR-to-HDR processing model. The thing the market wants most is a new too-late-now entrant to the HDR game to come and save us all!

Well at least the Technicolor HDR is in the UHD BD spec. No idea if any TVs other than LG support it though.

You'd need not only an LG TV, but also one of the few (which ones currently available?) 4K Blu-Ray players which could play a disc as well.

Yeah, I hear ya and if I stop and dwell on it, it would kinda bug me too. But like water off a ducks back, I let it roll off me. It's about the dinosaurs and watching the bad guys get their comeuppance at the teeth of those aforementioned dino's.

Maybe the next JW will be going back to the Jungle thats almost dead but with a few hidden surprises and trying to rescue someone. Cuz originality is for losers? 😄
We finally colonize Mars and what better way to get tourists? Build a Dinosaur theme park. What could possibly go wrong? Welcome to Jurassic Mars.

I ordered a TCL 6 series. I was looking at something more expensive. But the Sony 900F and Vizio P Quantum TVs were twice the price or more. I then decided to go with a lower cost set since the TCL is supposed to have the best bang for the buck in it's price range. Plus, with the lower cost, I figured it will make it easier to upgrade again in a couple of years. When the TVs have HDMI 2.1, cost less, and are even better.

Solo, while dark in the beginning (intentionally so) was not horrible to watch. It had a good amount of “bright” HDR highlight scenes/images which just drove home the fact that the look was intentional. It reminded me a lot of GoT and it’s use of “natural light”. It’s not going to blow anyone’s socks off, but well worth checking out (wouldn’t recommend in a bright room). It was really fun and unfortunately got a bad rap before it even got a chance.
