The ESPN game in NATIVE 4K looked amazing. The Notre Dame game in 4K had a lot of issues, same as previous weeks. The small part of the MLB ALCS that I saw looked decent.

I watched the ESPN 4Kbroadcast. Thought it looked pretty amazing even without HDR. Native 4K and you could tell the difference. It was supposed to have Dolby Atmos sound too but for some reason it was just 2.0 sound. But the HD broadcast had 5.1. Notre Dame/USC game looked okay. Minnesota/Notre Dame game looked pretty good. Yankees Astro game was okay but they also are not using 4k cameras. Several people insisted that Fox was using 4k cameras for MLB coverage but I could always tell it looked kind of soft compared to MLB Network's 4k broadcasts from last season.

Are all these sports programs you guys keep mentioning in HDR or something? If not they probably don't belong in this thread. Maybe another thread for 4K sports or 4K TV programs without HDR or something would be good.

They are in HDR. I've seen posts from people in this thread discussing iPhones and how amazing the iPhone screen is, perhaps you'd rather discuss that then?

This thread is for anything relating to HDR content. And yeah, that includes how content looks on different screens. If the sports are HDR, then great. It didn't seem like that to me from the posts I saw.

Kinda like how certain people always bring up 3D too as a comparison. But yea, they were in HDR although some devices weren't able to get them through hdr.

Was pleasantly surprised to see Xfinity had the ESPN game (LSU v FL) in 4K. As others have stated, no HDR but it did look good. The best any game has looked on ESPN. The Notre Dame v USC game looked sensational with the added HDR. I didn’t see the issue of it being dark as another poster had mentioned. HDR has only been added to the past two Notre Dame games and its done nothing but add to the eye candy. The way ND’s golden helmets shine under the lights is remarkable. The other game Minnesota v Nebraska also looked good. Didn’t watch much of it but I think I remember it being in HDR as well. The Yankee v Astros game did look a bit soft. No HDR but still way better than any other regular broadcast baseball games have looked. I really like where we’re going in regards to 4K/HDR sports. Really looking forward to this becoming the norm.

I don't see a problem comparing other formats to HDR. HDR is still the focus of the conversation that way, in particular the value of that HDR.

I wasn't complaining about anything here. I was just genuinely curious whether the topic of discussion was actually relevant. I just couldn't tell.

Watched the first few episodes of Insatiable Season 2 tonight. Thought the DV/HDR was very good, better than last season which was somewhat below average in terms of HDR although still noticeably better than SDR. In particular the colors looked great, lots of subtlety in skin tones and vibrant colors everywhere. Shadows and highlights seemed decent but nothing too crazy, but 4K resolution looked pretty much perfect.

4K football?

OK, I'm confused? For those who watched FB in 4K yesterday, what was your signal chain? AppleTV, Sling TV, ESPN channel and 4K TV as an example? I am all antenna and Tivo and ATV4K or Fire stick. I've missed the obvious????
Thanks

I think it would be a good idea to create a separate dedicated thread for everything sports related in 4K/ HDR. Especially bc its so new, theres gonna be heavy traffic on what's available and where. Let me know and ill happily make one 😉

For those of you that have Hellboy on ITunes you may want to check out the Directors Cut. Supposedly it’s playing 4K/HDR10 although the main listing still shows HD.

Sure enough but I wonder who would have even thought about checking the Director's Cut, not me.

Is the 4k disc only 4k on the Director's Cut as well?

The disc is both. Saw the report over on a different forum. I’m guessing when the title got updated with the extras they checked the directors cut “just in case”...

I have to say, after the rave reviews of the 4K Blu-ray of Toy Story 4, I'm pretty disappointed. To me it felt like next to no upgrade over SDR. I'm not even sure I buy the claim that it's a 4K DI.

Don't get me wrong, the movie itself looks great, but that has nothing to do with the HDR, just great graphics and color grading. The only thing I saw as an upgrade here was a subtle improvement in color. Not a huge difference, but somewhat noticeable. Highlights and shadows looked SDR. Highlights even looked crushed.

I haven't seen the first 3 in HDR, but from the screenshot comparisons I've seen I think those are better than 4 in terms of HDR.

4 has better visuals though of course.

Not really a deal, but about standard for Marvel titles when new. This set is mostly for those like the previous poster who haven’t bought the discs yet. It’s cheaper for those that have already started the collection to just finish it out.

However that's the first time I've seen reference to it having digital copies, previous announcements were silent on the digital copy status.
It's still not a good deal and I expect to see it on a fire sale in about a 10-18 months considering I got the UK Cap 4K set for $45 US vs paying over $75 for the 3 movies here.

As others said, not a great deal. They usually start at $29.99 per movie and go down as low as $19.99. I only have end game, so it's priced right and comes in a single package.

I really liked the way TS4 looked. I thought it looked much better than the other ones. I watched my TS4 UHD BD rental yesterday.

I am adding this to my reference title list. I will be purchasing it over the Holidays. Since I'm going to wait to see if it goes on sale first.

I watched the Vudu DV stream and thought it looked amazing. A lot of reflections, amazing detail, the carnival looked amazing.
