Chapter 4 for some reason did not show up last week in DV on my ATV4K? Chapter 5 did show in DV. Also on my Sony Android app it was in DV and then not? Anyone see the inconsistency with the Disney+ app with different devices?

On another note I haven’t seen anyone post on here about Game of thrones season 8 in UHD.
I’m waiting for a sale or if I get any gift cards this Christmas to pick it up.
I’m very curious how episode 3 the long night is going to be perceived PQ wise? Being that it was such a intentionally dark lit episode.

While the quality is greatly improved via bitrate and HDR, folks who complained about it being “too dark” will probably have the same issues. It’s intentionally dark, but now those levels are more “steady” now (no more compression artifacts, etc). As always GoT discs are the way to see the show of and when you can.

I only have seasons 1 and 8 on disc because these are available in UHD but I'm also impressed with the iTunes versions of season 2 - 7 because they look so great in HD. Sometimes they seem almost 4k when looking at some of those scenes.

I agree the discs are on another level even with regular 1080 SDR Blu-ray. I have season 1 in UHD and season 6 in Blu-ray.

Redbox is ending video game rentals by the end of the year. I wonder if this is them clearing room for a broad 4k rental rollout.

I'm thinking with how game campaigns have been increasing in length, redbox HAD to be renting less and less games

It's too bad, it's nice to have, but yeah I guess if it means more 4K availability, then I'd probably use that more often anyway.

Plus haven't digital games surpassed the 50% mark too? So less people are using discs.

I know this gen I went all digital. Except for the occasional rental. And I can't even remember the last time I rented a game. I will never go back to purchasing games on disc.

I don't know but digital wouldn't replace renting a game for $2 for one day.

Anyway I personally have many reasons for not going all digital, whether it's games or movies. At least with music it's DRM free so nothing to worry about there. But with digital games/movies, you don't own them. The online stores could remove them from your account whenever they want (or if the creator of the content no longer wants to host it online). Basically, nothing online lasts forever. With movies there's also the fact that they're higher quality on disc. But also, you can sell discs you don't like, let your friends borrow them, etc. Digital is often more expensive. All digital has some convenience benefits (it's certainly nice not having to swap discs), but I think the negatives outweigh that in many cases.

Well in a very nice surprising turn...

Looks like Disney will be releasing Disc versions of some of the 4k movies that launched exclusively on their Disney+ service a few weeks ago. It looked like those movies may never get released on disc since they went straight to the streaming service. But pre-orders have popped up for the following Disney movies. (thanks to bluray.com members for posting these).

-Wall-E
- Monsters Inc
- Monsters University
- A Buggs Life
- Beauty and the Beast (1991)
- Beauty and the Beast (2017)
- Up

And just for fun..just wanna say....Holy Crap there's some awesome HDR movies releasing next summer that should make next fall/winter a great time for 4k Blu Ray! Wonder Woman 1984, Ghostbusters Afterlife, Free Guy (Ryan Renyolds), Fast 9, Black widow looks decent but may not be the HDR Blitz the other movies are, Top Gun Maverick, James Bond

Also there are strong rumors that The Goonies will be getting a 4k release next year for its 35th anniversary. There was some theater screenings with the new 4k remaster and word is that it looks like a whole new movie.

By the time I ever get around to selling or trading in a game disc, its basically worthless. It's one of the reasons I went all digital in 2013 for the current game generation. For movies I still gumby discs, rent discs, rent digital, and buy digital.

BOO!!! Mine came yesterday, but I spent last night at the hospital with my Dad (he'll be OK, he's just got to stay several days to get his sodium level up slowly), and in 45 minutes, I have our annual HOA board meeting, of which I'm a member, until 9.

I don't go th the local theater anymore, so I haven't seen it yet, but am a rabid QT fan, and really wanted to have a "dinner at the movies" date night with my wife this week to take it in. Stupid life getting in the way!

This one is on the "sacred film" list that I'm always allowed to upgrade. I've owned the VHS they gave away at McDonald's in the '90's, clamshell widescreen VHS, DVD, and BRD, and will preorder the UHD if true. If they put some effort into an Atmos/dts:x track, the cave scenes could be amazing!

I mean, a larger 4k rollout isn't a rumor. It's something they've stated is going to eventually happen and they already expanded once in March.

"We hope to expand to more areas soon, so keep checking back."

There's no real technical hurdle to carrying 4k discs, it's just a logistical one. If more space becomes avaliable in each kiosk, then there's a greater likelihood that they are going to fill it with UHD copies. I mean, they could also fill it with more copies of new releases or a deeper catalog too, but I want to be optimistic.

Yep, episode 3 remains dark as it’s meant to be. Shadow detail is improved as are highlights, but don’t expect a revelation of something totally reworked and brightened up.

Redbox has been renting 4K UHDs at my kiosks since the initial rollout but they've been pulling back on the number of popular titles released on 4K UHD. You can see the titles available at https://www.redbox.com/4k. So I'll believe it when I see it that they expand 4K UHD titles offered at the kiosks because I've seen them going the opposite direction. No Hobbs & Shaw, Toy Story 4, Spider-Man Far From Home, Aladdin, etc.

I don't go th the local theater anymore, so I haven't seen it yet, but am a rabid QT fan, and really wanted to have a "dinner at the movies" date night with my wife this week to take it in. Stupid life getting in the way!
Glad to hear your pop will be ok. Hospital stays are no fun in any way, shape or form.

Watched Once Upon A time In Hollywood (slummed it with a 1080p BD rental from the Box). Loved it! Fantastic film. Q has always been spot on with his choice of the soundtrack. And this is another winner.

So I'll believe it when I see it that they expand 4K UHD titles offered at the kiosks because I've seen them going the opposite direction. No Hobbs & Shaw, Toy Story 4, Spider-Man Far From Home, Aladdin, etc.
That links doesn’t show any 4K, maybe because there aren’t any in my area?
