This article about the new HBO show Avenue 5 mentions that it's mastered in 4k Dolby Vision and that HBO has an HDR deliverable requirement. So I'm hoping that's a sign that HBO Max will have HDR content.

Obviously, Eben was mindful of the HDR delivery requirement from pre-production. Our devised colour pipeline was created to make the HDR deliverable requirement seamless – it was just a case of deciding how far we wanted to push the colour, brightness and contrast.

One can only hope as they haven’t (as far as I’ve seen) said if they will or not. It would seem silly not to since almost every other service has it (outside of Hulu which only offers 4K SDR right now).

Yeah, nice film... But being a motorsports buff, Hollywood definitely added their dramatic touch in a lot of scenes, like the side-by-side racing down the Mulsane, redlines and the driver glancing at one another... Lol
But that aside, entertaining!

I watched the trailer and it seemed more "silly" than comedy, much like "Alexa and Katie". I wish they could make then funnier rather than over-the-top silly.

I watched it on UHD Blu this past weekend, and the PQ was absolutely pristine throughout; being a native 4K title, I would even go for the higher bitrate UHD Blu, if you can

In fact, I was arguing acceptable HDMI output in another thread, and posted the following pic of some display info, but you can also sneak a little peek behind the info:
Spoiler!

I may try to get a few more pics later, as I plan to re-watch some of the best real-world Atmos demo scenes to date (IMHO)

How is that outputting 10bit with the 422 color space since the HDMi 2.0 spec only allows 12 bit with the 422 colorspace at 2160P? Or does that have HDMI 2.1?
I know in my setups I've never seen the 422 colorspace with anything but 12 bit at 2160P.
And supposedly that is all the HDMi 2.0 spec allows.

The HDMI 2.0 spec shows that for 10 bit only the 444 colorspace is allowed at 2160P24/30 and the 420 colorspace is all that is allowed for 2160P60/50.
Or is that player able to bypass the HDMi protocols?

@aaronwt , Here's the discussion in the other thread, for those who may be interested. (essentially, it was rumored to be added for HDMI 2.0a, but it hasn't been verified for absolute certain).

First off those are not colour spaces. They are chroma subsampling methods. In addition, with HDMI they are also pixel encoding formats. What does this mean?

You can send 8, 10 or 12 bits inside the HDMI 4:2:2 pixel format. The lower bits are just padded with zeros. You can also send 4:2:0 subsampled data inside the HDMI 4:2:2 pixel format. That’s how it was done in earlier versions of HDMI and is still valid.

The HDMI 4:2:0 pixel encoding (Y420VDB) was added later in HDMI 2.0.

It uses the HDMI 4:2:2 12-bit pixel format and sends 4:2:0/4:2:2 8/10/12 bit data in it.

No HDMI standard was violated or bypassed.

Thanks a lot puddy77. I had ordered this one during the FandangoNow Golden Globe 50% off promotion back in December but by the time it was released in February, my credit card had expired and when I asked FandangoNow about it, they said they couldn't do anything about it. I was waiting on a sale for it but you gave it to me. Much appreciated!

According to Blu-ray.com the film is finished at a 2K DI but has the appearance of a native 4K transfer. I believe John Archer from Forbes had a similar opinion. Now I’m tempted to buy the disc but I do want to watch this from Apple w/ DV.

The first season of Hunters is now up on Amazon. It's about a group of Nazi hunters in the 70's. It's developed by Jordan Peele and stars Al Pacino. I've seen some reviews say it's Tarantino-esque, as in grindhouse style B-movie violence and aesthetics. The first episode is 90 minutes, the rest are around 60.
