How to remove DV or HDR from an hdmi signal?

I use a dreamscreen tv unit for ambient lighting, however it does not support Dolby Vision. How can I strip Dolby vision from an hdmi signal? Would any splitters work, or will they just pass through nothing if they are input an DV signal (it's okay if it doesn't actually split the signal, I only need 1 output)? I'm thinking a hdmi scaler may work? Or maybe even a box converting from hdmi to component, then another converting the component back to hdmi? Any thought on where to look?

You don't have to do anything special. Just plug and play. The device will see you are not HDR compatible and will send an SDR signal. If you're using a 4k disc player, it will automatically convert to SDR. If you're using a 4k streaming device, it will only grab SDR streams.

If I just plug it in with a hdmi cable that support HDR - the dreamscreen doesn't work, it can't decode a DV signal. My receiver output DV to my tv out of hdmi1, and hdmi2 output is mirrored going to the dreamscreen. Output 2 is what I'm trying to remove the DV from.

Maybe try to turn off HDR passthrough on your receiver. If that doesn't work. I recommend listing all the devices in your chain and how they are connected.

I just got a Denon AVR-S950H, it has HDR passthrough but I don't see a way of disabling it. My device chain is this: PC > Denon > TV(hdmi out1) + Dreamscreen(hdmi out2). I can still return this receiver though, do you know of one that does allow you to to disable the HDR passthrough? I'd need to only disable it on hdmi out 2, as I want my TV to display DV.

Try switching the 4k Signal Format to Standard: http://manuals.denon.com/AVRS950H/NA...SYzvebvotm.php
Otherwise, you may want to ask in a thread dedicated to your AVR.
