Corona Virus Binge List

What's your binge list now that most of the people in the US are ordered to stay home for the most part?

The 3 on my mind (not counting ones I'm currently watching) are:

Chernobyl
Outsiders
Succession

I've also been rewatching Justified lately and reminding myself what a great show that is after starting a few shows that didn't seem all that good.

"Don't blame me -- I voted for Kodos." Homer Simpson

Right now my wife and I are binging Hogan's Heroes (Sundance TV) and 3rd Rock from the Sun (LAFF TV). Then I will be binging Sliders (Comet TV, which starts with the pilot episode this afternoon). We will also probably resume Alias, currently we are halfway into season 3 (DVDs from Netflix, except Season 2).

Ha, seems like I wind up watching HH episodes when I'm not sure what to watch. I recently 'saved' and watched the entire Rockford Files series on YTTV, it was quite entertaining. I also discovered "Community" series, first couple seasons are quite funny.

Justified, as mentioned above, is a awesome series with great acting and characters. Its hard to find something I like that is similar. Started watching the new OZARK season, I suppose that comes closest.

I'm struggling to find the next thing though, will be watching here for more ideas.

I compiled a list of virus/epidemic-themed films to order and watch whilst stuck at home. Haven't watched many yet so can't comment on quality (some of them got pretty bad reviews).

Containment (2015)
Warning Sign (1985)
Antisocial (2013)
Blindness (2008) This is one I have watched, its a bit grim/gritty but worth a watch if you have a strong stomach
Stranded (2013)
The Signal (2007)
The Andromeda strain (1971 and 2008 remake)
Pontypool (2008)
Viral (2016)
Flu (2013)
Carriers (2009)
Pandemic (2016)
Contagion (2011)

Outbreak (1995)

Wow, I thought I had a lot of time on my hands. It's only been free for a week and I just finished season 2 about 5 this morning.

Q about STAR WARS movies

Of all the Star Wars movies, I have only watched "The Empire Strikes Back" in its entirety (at the cinema, aged 10) and part of the original SW movie when it aired on broadcast TV.

Is it worth it to see the rest of the episodes?

Are there some that are particularly good, and some that are particularly bad?

~ Are you a "geek hobbyist" obsessed with squeezing out that last 5-10% improvement? The economy will thank you...especially the Chinese one. Or are you more of a get-set-and-forget "casual user" who simply wants to increase your enjoyment of movies, TV and gaming? Relax, HT isn't rocket science, nor does it have to cost an arm and a leg---especially if you ignore the aforementioned vocal minority. And remember to smile...it's just a silly hobby, after all. :)

Well...yea-ah.

First two are the best (Star Wars, and Empire), worst is the first prequel (The Phantom Menace), IMO, YMMV, Caveat Emptor, etc.

Watch them all, if nothing else, for the history lesson.

So far...

"Fantasy Island" on Sony Crackle
"Andromeda" on The Roku Channel

And some older and newer sci-fi movies. Here's my list so far from the October Fun topic...

The Time Machine (2002)
Kong: Skull Island (2017)
Memory: The Origins of Alien (2019 Documentary)
Dark Skies (2013)
Leviathan (1989)
The Island of Dr. Moreau (1996)
Frankenstein Meets the Space Monster (1965)
"Flash Gordon" / "The New Adventures of Flash Gordon" (1996 animated TV series)
Robot World (2014)
Teleios / Beyond the Trek (2017)

I'm gradually workin my way up to the better stuff.

Also, alot of music vids on YouTube (as always). I wouldn't mind doin "Game of Thrones" as well, since I've only seen a bit of the first season. But that costs $$.

Also, some older classics that I either haven't seen before, or haven't watched in some time, mostly from the free w/ads streaming sites. Pluto TV has most or all of the older 007 films btw, both on-demand and on a dedicated 24/7 007 channel...

For years before the pandemic, I was a huge fan of post apocalyptic/dystopian films/TV shows - i.e., movies that took place after some type of devastation/break-down of society/virus/nuclear war/alien invasion, etc. I guess I was fascinated by these types of films/TV shows because I always thought these types of things WERE possible, but never thought anything like this would actually happen.

And, despite our society now having to deal with the terrible COVID-19, I'm actually more interested in re-watching (or watching for the first time) these than I was before. Go figure.

My list (not at all comprehensive). I have already re-watched some of these recently, and will try to watch/re-watch the rest in the coming months - if possible.

Films:

28 Days Later
28 Weeks Later
I am Legend

Contagion
War of the Worlds (2005 re-make)
Cloverfield
The Day After
The Hunger Games series
Maze Runner series
Soylent Green

Planet of the Apes & Beneath the Planet of the Apes (1968 & 1970)

Rise, Dawn, and War for the Planet of the Apes (2011 - 2017)

Dawn of the Dead (2004 re-make)
Night of the Living Dead, both versions (1968 & 1990)
Day of the Dead (1985)
Diary of the Dead
Land of the Dead

TV series

Jeremiah (2002-2003): Interesting series starring the late Luke Perry & Malcolm-Jamal Warner as drifters in a post-apocalyptic North America - taking place 15 years after a devastating virus kills almost everyone past the age of adolescence.

Jericho - Set in the small town/community of Jericho, Kansas after a nuclear war.

The Walking Dead & Fear the Walking Dead - 'nuff said

"Baskets", old FX series starring Zach Galifianakis. Plays a want to be clown trying to make it a career. Found it on Hulu. They are offering a 30 day free trial now instead of the normal 7 day.
