Wow! Thanks for all the help, the avs community is soooo helpful. It's nice to know people share the same interests.....According to my girlfriend I'm nuts for putting a home theater in our house.

Honey, if i didn't love you why would I be putting a home theater in our house??

Yes, I actually said this.

My wife disliked the idea and talked me out of it many times. Then we decided to remodel the basement and I finally got the opportunity. Now she's a HUGE proponent of the theater, inviting friends and family over all the time. I wish you luck in achieving similar results!

We worked with Nick Fabrick from Xtend Technologies when we were in the design phase for our theater. We knew we wanted to DIY for most things, but wanted some expert advice on an optimum layout. Nick came to our home, looked things over, and came up with 2-3 drawings of potential layouts. It was money well spent - smart folks at Xtend.

I got ambitious and moved my equipment out of the furnace room and into the closet right next to it. I was lucky that all the prewire reached.

Looks great G......I just upgraded my samsung up5000 dual format player to firmware ver. 1.5 and it's freakin off the chain. The player would not play Avatar until it was upgraded, but when it was done I re-watched the movie....WOW. This player with it's HQV processing beats the piss out of anything up to the oppo bd83.

Looks great G!

my Panny BD55 just upgraded itself to the latest firmware over the weekend. Don't know what the upgrade did, but at least the player still works!

Welcome. It's been dormant for a while. With spring around the corner may be someone will have a meet.

Hi guys! Someone be sure to email me when a meet is planned, I don't want to miss it.

As for me, I won't be hosting one anytime soon. A lot of changes have happened to me over the last year and couple of months. Met a girl, got engaged, getting married in August. The downside is I moved into her house which is very home theater UN-friendly. I have absolutely no where to set up any of my equipment. I'm very bummed. And I have no idea when or if I'll ever be able to use it again. I'm not sure if I should store it or sell it. I accumulated some nice things (IMO) and it'd be a shame to let them go. So confused.

Maybe after the wedding I'll have a better idea of what my options are. But until then, I have to live through you guys!!!

Great shot... I wish you guys well. I'll look to have one this summer also. I'm thinking about a dual projector (2D and 3D) setup. More to come on the project.

Thanks, Tony!

And dual projector set-up would be great I think. Although careful how you mount them, when I had the two projectors mounted vertically from one another, the bottom one's heat killed the lamp in the top one. Unless I was really unlucky with the bulb, but the evidence tells me it was the heat.

Ha, I was just joking but good luck to you two.

Start putting pressure on her now for a home theater location in the house (basement?) Have you keep your priorities straight

I know you were.

But I wasn't joking about the house being home theater unfriendly, there really is no where to put my stuff, the design is terrible for that. Only an addition or moving to another place is feasible. Disappointing to say the least.

The things we do for love, glad you met the one George. It's a shame to have all that nice equipment in storage. I think you need to sell it all at a greatly reduced price. Looking foreword to the next meet when and wherever it is. Changed out a few pieces and made a few additions since you guys were here. Now if work would slow down a little I could find some time to enjoy it all.

Nice find Tony. I still have my hd-a1. I picked up an oppo 93. It's a nice unit and does a real good job with standard dvd's. Also got an integra 80.1 processor, 2 more speakers for 9.1 and another sub. Rockin' the basement

WOW...... what a setup. If my wife would let me enjoy my lowly onkyo 605 I would have upgraded by now, I can't get her to let me go above 35. AVR Gods....help me. I hear unstoppable is reference low level.

so over the last few weeks we have been having our basement finished. thank god the sum pump performed properly yesterday!

framing, insulation, mechanicals, and now drywall are all up. the rest of this week is dedicated to taping/mudding/sanding the drywall, and next week the fun begins.

i already have the projector, jvc hd-250 and yesterday i ordered the carada 100" brilliant white precision series screen. i also picked up a cheap monitor with speakers for the bathroom tv.

i still need to figure out some sort of rack for the equipment, a way to control it from the other room (i see g-bartman has one of the pyramid receivers i have been looking at), need some furniture, a refrigerator, and a putting green. pics to come as we continue progress.

i did double drywall and green glue in the theater on all walls/ceiling, plus clips on the ceiling, putty pads around all the electrical boxes, and communicating doors with a seal around the first one. i'd love to do some db tests now that the drywall is up but the doors will be another few weeks

The powermid ir to rf works pretty well. I have to have it pretty colse to the rack but it still does the job. I really like the universal remote I got with the optional rf receiver. I dont have to have a line of sight to the powermid, it has a very good range. I think it is the mx-810.

My friend has had one of those IR pyramids for years and it's served him well. No problems and functions as designed. I miss my old All In One RF remote but haven't settled on a new one yet. After having RF it's tough to live without it.

Wow Greg, another sub??? I remember my pants shaking from the LFE with what you had at the meet You must have very nice neighbors!

Regarding remotes, I bought the Logitech Harmony 900. It's been working great for me and easy to set up via their software/USB. Was originally worried about the IR blaster hitting all my components but hasn't been an issue.
