That would be awesome for sure. Because noise no matter how good it sounds takes away realism.

Well, I ordered it yesterday morning and still have not gotten a shipping notification. Hoping it ships today as it is supposed to be an "In-stock, off the shelf" item

Hi NEO group,

Just a quick update regarding the noise issue I was experiencing from my amp.

The noise was a buzzing w/slight hum coming from within the chassis of the amp. No sound was present from the speakers, so I was certain it was not a ground loop issue. After doing some research using google, I found a device which claimed to address this noise issue. It blocks DC present in the AC line which causes the sort of noise I had. This noise is caused by many factors such as appliances(fridge, etc.) feeding off the same bank of breakers.

The device is called the Humdinger. The company making it is Audio by Van Alstine. I got it yesterday in the mail and hooked it up. It completely eliminated the noise and now my amp is pretty much dead quiet. The best sub-$160-shipped investment I've made recently!

If anyone has the same issue I highly recommend this product.

Humdinger, what a great name. Glad it worked out for you. I had a ground loop hum on my DIY subwoofers that I solved by running a wire from my receiver to the wall outlet ground. Lucky for me it was a simple fix as I would have no idea what to do if it didn't work. Its been that way for 2-1/2 years now so I guess its effective and safe. I would like to have a more permanent solution when I upgrade some of the equipment.

If it works, don't fix it! Having all the equipment running on a common circuit if possible should eliminate a ground loop hum.

I have heard a ground loop hum in another system and my issue was definitely not that. If it were, I would not have purchased the Humdinger as it specifically states it will not eliminate that.

On a separate topic....
Greg, your system sounds phenomenal!!

@raynist @Marc Alexander Hi all, in the subwoofer forum ("subwoofer comparisons and impressions" thread specifically) I had mentioned yesterday that I would be interested in hosting a get together for anyone within driving distance of NorthEast Ohio. I am in Amherst, Ohio and am 2 hrs from Pittsburgh/Detroit/Columbus.

I will say that I do not have the killer systems that some of you have, nor a dedicated theater, but I am a music lover and have a decent set up in a highly treated room. I think it sounds good

An overview of my system is
1. Klipsch RP280 mains
2. Klipsch RP450c Center
3. Polk rears and front heights (not a huge movie buff but I like them from time to time so I didnt invest heavily into this part)
4. Denon x3400 AVR
5. Crown xls1502 2 channel amp
6. Dragonfly red DAC
7. PSA s3601 x 2 (may be upgrading to new low tuned ported subs soon)
8. 20 ish broadband acouostic panels and bass traps
9. Sony 4k player
10. 75 in Samsung QLED

One goal of this is to hear various subwoofers (mainly) and speakers to see how they sound and REW measure in my room. I know REW pretty well so that may help... although not as well as some people who may attend. Another goal is to produce test results on my suspended, open living room versus my (almost) sealed basement concrete floor. It has been discussed over and over in the subwoofer forums about Tactile response studies and how people perceive TR.

I will have some drinks but BYOB anything specific and I will also provide Hors d'oeurves to all who attend This would be my 1st attempt at a GTG so go easy on me!!

I will have PSA ported low tuned subs to listen to (or my current s3601s), but I am looking for any ID or DIY subs to test and evaluate both on the suspended and concrete floor and sealed vs ported.

I am near(ish) PSA headquarters and I may see if Tom V. and company would like to attend and maybe bring a heavy hitter sub. We shall see.

Tentative date is June 15th at 2 pm-??! Please PM me if you are interested in attending and what subs/speakers/electronics/listening material you are willing to bring!

Regards,

Dave

I will keep that date on my radar.

I have a beastly DIY'd Dayton 10" ported sub that is lying dormant at present. Might be fun to bring it for S&G's!

I could probably make that date and depending on the space you have available, I may be able to bring my FV25HP to see how it sounds in your room.

Yo, and yeah I am but all of the customer service/amp issues with JTR has me mini-freaked to say the least. I also sent Jeff a few messages a few months ago - and he just got back to me lol.

Also Tom from PSA has this new low-tuned sub coming out that looks to be in the JTR 2400/4000 range, and since I have the PSA 5.1 going on now - I may hold off for that to see what it's looking like!
