Wow those 5t's sound good. Jeez a lot of bass. Man he knows how to design speakers. I am shocked how good they sound. I wanted to make sure there was nothing wrong with them before I put them in the rears. They are way to good to be freaking surrounds. I think I over did it a bit guys. As usual hehe

It is remarkable what a good designer can squeeze out of a pair of small speakers these days. I had been playing my Sierra-2EX's full range without the sub recently and had to check more than once that I had turned the sub off. It has the same woofer that Dave @ Ascend co-developed with SEAS for use with the SEAS White Diamond dome tweeters that list for about $7K/pr. by themselves. The "Made to order" Sierra-2Diamond bookshelf speaker sell for $7500/pr. A little too rich for my blood, but Dave says the next speaker to use this tweeter are like $30K/pr. by another manufacturer.

I love my Sierra-2EX's, but man, I'm jealous of the finish on those 5T's!

Iv'e been guilty in the past of letting advertising sway my judgement toward av equipment, especially speakers. Wow, this speaker has seven beefy drivers including a powered sub, they must be awesome. I have listened to a lot of speakers over the years, mostly at dealers and shows. Some were very impressive, some not. I'm glad I took a chance on some speakers from a company that does no advertising and focuses on r&d, not shock and awe.

I hear ya, brutha! I'll stick with speakers that have solid engineering behind them with no advertising budget over the hyped ones any day of the week.

Me too fellas. Eddy, Ascend is internet direct which helps even more with engineering per dollar. They are very good sounding. Just not the prettiest or big enough lol. I am sure your speakers would give any bookshelf a run for their money.
It would depend on your priorities. In which it seems that Ascend and Aerial have similar qualities. Great soundstaging! Good tight bass. Excellent crossover design's. Seamless blending of the speakers. And not so much detail that it approaches being anolitical.

It's all about the size, eh, no replacement for displacement? Hehehe!

Yes, internet-direct has certain advantages & disadvantages. I think they tend to be more in tune with what their customers want, but I have no actual facts to support that assumption.

Dave @ Ascend started the business after working many years for well known speaker companies, 1 of those being M&K. He got tired of having to design around someone else's idea of what a speaker should be, and having to do so under very tight budget constraints. He saw how much went into mediocre designs and how much markup there is just to cover all the overhead & advertising budget, as well as the sales force, and wanted to make true hi end speakers within the reach of regular folks who don't earn crazy incomes. He has been able to leverage his professional relationships with industry people to be able to offer these products at prices much lower than most hi end offerings.

Not the prettiest? That's OK, and 1 of the reasons they will embarrass some furniture quality finished speakers costing way more!

BTW..... Have you hooked up and tried the Rythmik yet?

Those Ascends will definitely embarrass a lot of high end speakers. Most high end speakers. They were much more engrossing than my Paradigm's were.

Yes I got the Rythmik hooked up but haven't had time to use it yet. Audio Advisor lost my other surround speaker rack. And bow they are shipping me another. Hopefully they have another one. I have just setup the RMC1L. And it is still a bit frustrating . But I finally got sound out of it. But now have to call Dish as I think I just got a hardware failure

No hardware failure. Dummy me moved all the equipment around and it loosened up the f connector on the Dish Hopper. I thought I checked that before I called but no sure enough. I guess even us experienced people can have a brain fart I was so embarrassed when he said to take it out and put it back on. I was like oh it's loose. And thought what a dummy.

I think brain farts happen because we put so much into our setups and there's a lot to them that it's sometimes difficult think of the simple things when troubleshooting.

Yes you are most definitely right. Thanks for that.

By the way I have my RMC1L hooked up with the streamer and it sounds wonderful. Much better than the PS Audio Direct Stream Dac with the Bridge 2 that I had when I decided to sell everything. I am a happy camper. Been streaming Roon all day through the Sotm

Hehe. Marking the spots man. Lol. The one in the middle is of course the middle of the room So I can align my rack perfectly in the center. I had that tape there for the speakers when we were changing them out and haven't removed it yet as I am still fine tuning. I use it as a guide. Since I got the RMC1L the bass is a little heavy. So I think I need to move them out more. When Dirac becomes available it won't matter as I have a huuugggge bump at 50hz in all graphs for all speakers that Dirac will eq out.

I am going to try something when my center channel comes. I am going to compare with and without since my room is not that wide I thought I may be able to go without a center. I could resell the center and get a Dac and pocket some money.

Nevermind on the above. I just watched a movie without the center channel. I can't believe that people actually can go without one. I have my center on none in the menu. But to me it seems like so much is missing. The center channel is the most important in movies. I just found that out in a big way. I can't wait for my center to get here.

Watched the movie child’s play last night. Was a huge fan of the originals. I tend to go into movie with open minds about plots and and then story into it.

All in all a good movie in my opinion with the times changing!

Sorry, Tony, I do not know anyone who repairs electronics other than pinball circuit boards. If you do find someone, please let me know I think a channel is bad on my B&K 200.7. I don't use all channels anyway (my receiver does some of the load), but it'd be nice to have the option.

Yeah Greg, great find!

My preamp was delivered to Parasound yesterday so hoping I will have it back in a week or two. It was killing me all weekend that I couldn't listen to the system.

I can see I need to get some new speaker wires. They look out of place. And maybe fill up that second shelf with some more goodies. Hehe

Thank you so much. It really sounds awesome! I am finally happy with the sound I am getting again. It has been a long hard road back. I am so impressed with the whole system. And the RMC1L has worked perfectly for me so far. And I have heard their will be a firmware update to increase switching speed dramatically. So if that happens with Dirac upcoming I will be in heaven.

Hi all I am in Cleveland Ohio and want to put a dedicated theater in my basement. Have any of you worked with any designers in the area that also do construction? I have not had good luck finding people that are knowledgeable and I am not handy enough to do it myself.
