Also a few custom AV guys that sometimes have small showrooms, you just need to track them down and call them to see what they have. I've had a couple conversations with Jewell's Quality Home Systems and he's been great to chat with on the phone, haven't actually moved on to the speakers yet as still early in the remodel (poured a foundation yay!).

Home Theater - Video: Sony KDL-55W800B - Audio - 7.2 - AVR: Denon 2809CI, Left/Right: Paradigm Prestige 95F; Center: Paradigm Prestige 45C; Surrounds: Sonance IS4; Subwoofers: Paradigm RVC-12SQ with X850 Amplifier - Upgrade in Progress!

Yeah, I've come across that name on the web before, though I've never tried to contact them. Do you have a sense of what brands they deal with?

Yeah he has a few good options, I’m doing some of the invisible Sonance in-walls for surrounds in my family room and he tried to talk me in to some in-wall Paradigm fronts, but I think i’m going to do freestanding towers from them instead

Which towers are you thinking about?

I’m leaning towards the Paradigm Prestige 85F right now.

That's what I've got my L/R, love 'em!!! Too bad Century is gone as I'd also recommend listening to Totem Acoustic of which they were one of the top USA dealers.

Well guy's I upgraded to JVC DLA-X590R form Sony 40es and must say the PQ on the JVC is outstanding. Will be getting it calibrated in January by Chad. Will be doing some minor calibration for now. If anyone is interested in seeing the JVC projector just let me know.

Drove up to Audio Video Integrators in San Rafael which had a nice showroom and a lot of great options to listen to. Definitely recommend checking them out if you are upgrading and need a lace to listen. Planning 7.2.2 with Paradigm Prestige 85F fronts, Sonance IS4s for completely invisible in-ceiling surround setup, as well as a couple RVC 12SQ in-wall subwoofers. Very excited to get this going.

It's rare that I go that far north on that side of the bay, but next time I do, I'll have to check the check the place out. You are doing a 2-speaker Atmos arrangement then?

Not to discourage, but I'd only caution you that Dolby does advise for Atmos that there is a good separation between the base layer and the height layer and discourages the 5.x.x or 7.x.x speakers from being in the ceiling. Doesn't mean you won't get the Atmos experience, but it might not be the best it can be.

Can you do in-wall surrounds? And what are you doing for a center?

Yeah, they had a nice showroom with 3 different dedicated rooms that could be used to demo different home environments (small sealed room, medium family room less treated various odds and ends around, and then home theater. If you want to hear something in particular give a ring in advance and they'll have them setup for when you arrive.

The calibrator who worked there was discussing my floor plan with me which is open on one side, and my furniture creates a seating position with my head 24" off the rear wall best case scenario. Even going in-wall that's still very little distance between the speaker and your ears. He suggested rear in-ceiling and side in-ceiling would create a better overall sound field around the seating position compared to trying to do two rears at a 120 degree angle or some such (but still basically right behind your head). Then augment with Atmos overheads around a third of the way back from the front wall that the tv will be on.

Sadly couldn't convince the wife to let me hide a projector in the ceiling during this project. Glad to hear it worked out!

If you like to see it let me know and thanks. Watching planet earth 2 on Netflix in 4k is sweet. I'll be getting the Panasonic ub820 4K Blu Ray player soon for its tone mapping capabilities.
