Aloha all.

Curious if there are any Fort Collins folks lurking around here. Is there a group or do you have any meets? Who are the Colorado AV gurus?

Thanks, Warren

No responses yet. I'd be curious myself to. Nice to bounce all kinds of ideas off of other like minded people.

I'm in Westminster myself.

You might search Meetup.com for your area and you can check for this type of group. Going to check it out myself.

Seems like there might be some work to do to get a Colorado group up and running! Future challenge accepted!

I'm north of Ft Collins in Wellington. I'm learning what I can as I build a dedicated theater. Let me know about a group.

Soooo, since first posting this, it now turns out that my future move will take me to Colorado Springs, not Fort Collins. For someone like me, who drives to other states for HT groups, not a big deal, we'll have to see how crazy for HT you all are in Colorado! Will be moving towards the end of Summer; just spent the last 12 days in Estes Park and the Springs. Looking forward to leaving the Midwest and heading out your way!

I would be down to join, I am in Scottsbluff, Nebraska but I am way closer to the Colorado people than anyone else in my state. Since the other end is 450 miles away.

Here is mine, its not a dedicated HT, but a media room.

Colorado Springs here. Also have linked up with a couple DIYers in the area.

I don't technically even have surround sound currently as I don't have rear speakers hooked up. I have a 13 month old son and he gets into everything. I actually have a gate in from of my AV equipment right now so he can't hit all the buttons on them or poke my subwoofer cone.

I would definately be interested in a meet at some point or get together.

I am hoping (finger crossed) to get my own small theater space in the basement this year. I have a plan for funding and wife has signed off on it now. Unfortunately I'll have to wait until April to move ahead with the project.

Netgear WRT54G flashed with DDWRT working as hi-speed wireless bridge

I have a pair of VR965's that I was using as mains and using the 940's as rears in a 7.1 setup, but after swapping the 940's to the front, as they have the same drivers as the 920 center, after tuning, it was a far better match, and I pulled the large, powered 965s out of the setup and put them in my studio space at work.

Hey, I am in Castle rock and would love to bounce some ideas around with some people who have the same disease as me (at least that is what my wife calls it). just finished my first HT recently but want to completely change it again already so more ideas = more money spent smile.gif.

Hi

I'm moving to Fort Collins in a couple of months. We are remodelling our home and part of it includes a dedicated theatre. I have already gone through the cinema build process once and am looking forward to doing it again on larger scale than the version at our home in the UK. Would love to meet with other HT enthusiasts to bounce ideas etc

Warren - we visit the Springs multiple times a year (near the Academy & also Evergreen Cemetery). Where did you end up?

My wife and I just moved back to the Denver metro area (Westminster) and I'm interested in doing a meet-up. In a rental house so not able to build out the system I really want so for me it's a modest 7.1 (front presence) setup powered by a Yamaha 7ch AVR (RX-V673). I had to use the existing 4 surround speakers that the homeowner had wired up in the den but he got the placement all wrong. Still better than nothing I guess. Hopefully this summer or the fall we can get a group together at someone's theater and watch some movies!!

Cheers,

Andy

Yukichon. Did you ever get a chance to finish the 1099 and Volt builds? I've been stalking avsforum for a few months now with interest in going the DIY route, but haven't pulled the trigger. I'm looking at turning our basement into a media/HT area in the near future (when the wife's renovation list of priorities slows down). I'd definitely like to come see your work with the speakers and the home theater. Unfortunately I don't have much to offer in the way of speaker or HT experience, but I'm a "new" enthusiast.

Hi Jc

I did finish my build but not completely, I am still waiting for my volts that the painter has had for over 6 months!!
I have also sold the house I built the new HT in as we had to move for various reasons. On the plus side, I still have the Volts to put together and I am building a house from new and have a HUMOUNGOUS concrete basement for me to do it all over again 😁😂😂😂

Ahh that's a bummer on the house situation. I hope everything worked out in your favor and you received the dividends deserving of your time, effort, and know how. You did take those beautiful 1099s and subs with you though correct? I was following your build last night. It was inspiring to see you go from square one to multiple 3 way crossovers, all the while recruiting some awesome insight from AVS members. What's the story you're getting from the painter? I can appreciate someones trade time requirements, but after 6 months I might flip my sh*t.

Yeah, selling the house after all the effort of remodeling plus the HT was a real bummer....lost a fair bit of money too but thats life. Appreciate your comments on my build thread, i will update it soon with news of the house sale and will begin a whole new thread next year once i get the money to build another HT (number 3!!)

If you want some help, let me know. I'm not a carpenter or engineer by trade, but I've messed around with wood and electronics a bit. I could benefit from seeing how the planning and dedicated space come together.

Fort Collins here. I don't have a dedicated theater but I'm very much into audio.

They generally have a recap here on AVS regarding the Rocky Mountain Audio Fest. I haven't been but may attend this year or next.

2-channel: MA Silver 2 (5th Gen), Music Fidelity M2si, B&W ASW608, Rega RP1, Pro-Ject Phono Box, Marantz CD5004
Office: DefTech Demand D9, Cambridge Audio SR20, Lenovo ideapad, AQ Dragonfly Red
