I would like to. Not really for the 212, but just to see your place in general. The only thing I plan on upgrading anytime in the "near" future is the projector and probably receiver once 7.1.6+ becomes available at a reasonable price.

The Hodor Theater - Now with Atmos
Projector - JVC D-ILA NX7/Panasonic PT-AE8000U; Receiver - Yamaha Adventage A3050
LCR speakers - JTR Noesis 228 HT (3); Surr./Back - Klipsch Pro Cinema KPT-8000M (4)
Atmos In-ceiling - Niles DS8HD (4); Subs - Passive JTR Captivator Pro (2)

Cool, let me know when you'd be available; maybe we can get one or two others over as well. Next weekend is open for me but not sure about the weekend after that; we might have friends coming in from out of town. Thursday evenings work the best during the week.

I totally get it, it's not for everyone. It's definitely a film where the mood of the film may be the primary character and everyone else in it is playing as low key as possible... But (gah!) this reaction does kill me a little bit inside. ^_^

Saw it when it first came out...loved it. Wife hated it and son was too young and expected Star Wars. Have watched it numerous times. The fact it is still discussed and argued about must mean something...maybe just that I'm old (and that happened so darn fast)

Only means that you've been around long enough to remember many of the discussions.

Personally, I thought la la land stunk. Evidently, there were a few who disagreed.

@Stoked21 suggested something sorta interesting at one point that we never made happen. Specifically a Saturday marathon of movies everyone felt are under-rated, unknown, or otherwise ill-appreciated. Everyone attending would have the right to pick one flick that fit the category that they would recommend and nobody else could shoot it down.

Those ground rules sounded slightly dangerous to me
And an all day saturday marathon is a difficult sale to the spouse of those of us with young kids, myself included.

But I like pieces of the idea. Like if I was to host a movie night in this fashion it would likely be 13TH Warrior - it's generally got poor reviews but has to be in my top 5 movies. If that was turned down by my guests (only allowed if they had seen it) then I'd offer Downfall, a German movie subtitled in English about the downfall of Hitler. It won lots of awards but since it's not in English I know of nearly no one who has watched it. My wife and I thought it absolutelty superb. Don't like either movie? Too bad. Come next time where I'll probably fall back to a more typical current popular triple A title release. In fact that's now what I'm offering at my next movie night. 13TH Warrior or Downfall. Yeah. Glad I could work that out.

Chirpie, since most of the regulars haven't been to your theater, maybe even your brief crawl demo segment might be good fun!

I hope it is OK if I put my 2 cents in. I can't make this month probably, but could make others.

To me Blade Runner would be cool, great Sci Fi movie. I too seen it in the theater when it came the summer after I graduated high school.

I have seen the 13 Warrior so I would like it. I haven't seen Downfall, but I like history so it sounds interesting.

Hopefully some day I can return the favor on having a movie at theater when it's done. There area lot of great old movies out there to watch again..

NICE,
One thing remains. Play the Edge of Tomorrow (Live Die Repeat) opening clip at reference.
If we don't hear back from you, we'll know to call the local rescue squad to have them clear you out of your collapsed home debris.

I have the suspicion that some large percentage of customers that buy the 4000 ULF will never take it to the limits to know what it is capable of. Watching Doug (d_c) screw back in his drywall in real-time at the recent KC Home Theater Crawl with his battery hand drill as a single 4000 ULF was playing is not something one easily forgets. I think the piece directly over the 4000 ULF actually started flapping and coming loose until he tightened it up. (this was on drywall otherwise hung fresh that very morning by Doug's construction crew)

I'm sure I'll never play it to the limits either to be honest. But I only listen at reference & +6 or so hot on LFE.... so there is that... LOL

So things like Edge of tomorrow should still be mind blowing!

I've wanted to see this movie. Most people on the web have at least seen the Hitler meltdown scene with swapped out subtitles that has been parodied at least a ba-zillion times. ^_^

I could do a slightly truncated version of it, maybe toss in one or two different clips. What days usually work best for the group? I teach Monday and Wednesday night after work, so those days are out, but mostly the other days work this time of year.

Also is anyone interested in hosting the March movie night? Consider if you'll host an upcoming month this year so I can fill out the schedule in post 1. I realize some of the hosts are probably somewhat spent from the big crawl last month (I am, I've been sick mostly since the day after the crawl -- I can't seem to shake a long running lousy cold)

I know Jeff would appreciate the 212HT and 4000ULF getting a bit more demo time in a group setting before they have to go back home. Is anyone interested in demoing them for the other locals in their home. (Sorry, You'll have to be a fairly well known local to take possession of them since this is like $10g in gear.)

Are you waiting on the the multi format disk for$97? Amazon is showing they have 16 in stock now. I would contact them and see what's up.

Not sure what's up as my particular edition is the 30th anniversary edition, but it's not that boxed set. I thought I read somewhere that one of the cuts. Director's or Final cut I can't remember had the better overall movie. I may just cancel my one order, that appears to be a steelbook or something and just get the regular disc.

Probably one of my favorite films. Right up there with Dune, Aliens, Prometheus, Full Metal Jacket, Deerhunter, Clockwork Orange, Apocolypse Now - I love Big Labowski too, but it's not at the tippy top like the others.

If it has been awhile then I think you should give it another chance. IMO one of the greatest sci fi films of all time. I have always wanted to read the Philip K. Dick source material "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep".
