suggested something sorta interesting at one point that we never made happen. Specifically a Saturday marathon of movies everyone felt are under-rated, unknown, or otherwise ill-appreciated. Everyone attending would have the right to pick one flick that fit the category that they would recommend and nobody else could shoot it down.
Those ground rules sounded slightly dangerous to me
And an all day saturday marathon is a difficult sale to the spouse of those of us with young kids, myself included.
But I like pieces of the idea. Like if I was to host a movie night in this fashion it would likely be 13TH Warrior - it's generally got poor reviews but has to be in my top 5 movies. If that was turned down by my guests (only allowed if they had seen it) then I'd offer Downfall, a German movie subtitled in English about the downfall of Hitler. It won lots of awards but since it's not in English I know of nearly no one who has watched it. My wife and I thought it absolutelty superb. Don't like either movie? Too bad. Come next time where I'll probably fall back to a more typical current popular triple A title release. In fact that's now what I'm offering at my next movie night. 13TH Warrior or Downfall. Yeah. Glad I could work that out.
Chirpie, since most of the regulars haven't been to your theater, maybe even your brief crawl demo segment might be good fun!
