yes you can play a 4K UHD Bluray on a e-shift projector.
Not sure what you mean by 2K DVDs.

It does upscaling.

The only thing I understand it's lacking is Dolby Vision and apps.

It supports 1080p 3D, 4K, 4K upscaling, and HDR.

At $25 - you'd better not look a gift horse in the mouth.

I called the Walmart 8551 N Boardwalk Ave in KC MO and they are supposed to have 2 of them, but the sales guy says he hasn't seen them since Christmas. I may try and run up to Excelsior Springs to see if they do have any.

Dumbest phrase ever. I mean for real. What's a gift horse? Are you actually looking in its mouth? Why? What are you hoping to find there?

just looked it up. The teeth can tell how old the horse is so you are showing distrust of the giver. Lots of idle time when you are retired

You yuppie

I thought you was a Southern Boy?

-----

If you are given a horse, you shouldn't dishonor the giver by examining the mouth of the horse in front of the giver (examining the teeth is a method used to try to determine how old or healthy an animal is). Instead graciously accept the gift.

For a $25 UHD Bluray player that normally is priced towards $200, you probably don't need to try to figure out if it checks every box. Just buy it, and be thankful you saved a bucket of cash.

Dadgum fellas. You think I didn't actually know what the phrase means? Haha. Doesn't discount the fact I still think it's silly, and grammatically speaking, still stuck in 14th century and not up to current standards.

@Gorilla83, @beastaudio, @desertdome, @lukeamdman, @eng-399, @dlbeck, @Scott Simonian,

Who's hosting a crawl or big audio g2g event in 2018? KC crowd talked it over on Friday night and decided we'll probably do our next crawl in 2019 or even 2020 to allow some time for a few local rooms to be finished. @chirpie, @sigma722, @Ladeback, @d_c, @stitch1 all have new rooms in progress. Between these, and a few local rooms you didn't see in 2017 crawl - we can probably show you a whole new batch of rooms for the next KC Home Theater Crawl.

Any of you have anything in the works in your respective areas? @carp, and I like to schedule our flight in advance. (and whoever else from KC who might be interested )

If my theater isn't done for the 2019 crawl, I'll probably have to rethink some life decisions. I will for sure have my theater done for it, and ideally will have the rest of my basement complete too. Finishing my theater first though will definitely provide a pretty big distraction against the rest of the basement, but hoping to weekend warrior the rest, and leave evenings open for hanging in the theater (probably after a short hiatus).

Just talked to Rilla. I think we have some ideas cooking up nicely for perhaps a late July date for some fun WARM HT hangin out. I like the idea of you guys going another year out so we can mix it up a little. I have a few ideas as to what to expect between now and then tho:

@d_c : Builds HT room. Ht room implodes shortly after. By the time KC crawl comes around, he will still be homeless as his gear takes the entire structure of his house with it to some underground sink-hole. Doug is living on his boat.

@stitch1 : Just one year closer to not finishing his build-out

@chirpie : Decides this time around he is just going to stick to a single 8" driver subwoofer and still somehow manages to blow everyone's minds with its magical output that seems impossible in any space other than one of his own...

More to come from the primate who I will let detail a little more what we discussed.

As we often forget, we are all in the minority here having multiple rows. You can easily add a second set of side surrounds via y splitter, but then you also have to add in some delay to make them match up right, but perhaps in your case, where you are basically trying to split the gap for the front row and they will be equidistant to your MLP, perhaps no delay will be needed. I'd give it a try out if at all possible. provided you have some extra amp channels to do it of course.
I have thought about trying it. But, what I really want of course is for objects to pan appropriately. Whereas that solution only provides a replica of the existing channel. So it will be the same sound out of both. Still it might be worth it if I perceived a hole in my surround field. I don't think there is a BIG hole but then again sometimes you don't know what you are missing until you hear something better. I find this to be true quite a bit actually.

I might do this experiment when I get around to replacing my JBL SCS 8's with the JTR S8's on the ceiling. And tweaking the location while I'm at it. Can't believe I haven't done that yet.....

I hope we can do "the big one" in the spring of 2019, if not, we can still have a smaller crawl where we spend a bit more time enjoying some of the rooms. Man, if you want to get somewhere this summer and do some summer stuff and see some HTs, I just bought a house at the Lake of the Ozarks. We could do a day of KC HT touring and then a couple of days of watersports and hitting the bars on the lake that is 2 hours from KC. The cabin sleeps 15 and the boat I ordered rides 15. thinkabouttit...

@Scott Simonian

All I can think of is your eyes as big as saucers as when we almost sunk Doug's pontoon boat on our February 2017 crawl. hahaha!

This will be us at the next crawl...Doug will be in the Captains quarters, with water up to his chest, holding his beer high with one hand - "she can take it"

and a few minutes later, Scott - - - "ughh, guys?"

11 hour drive? Minneapolis is only 6 hours from my house so it would be about 6.5 hours for you Johnathan without stopping. I made that trip many times back in 2012/2013.

I would be up for going if the boss says ok.

Since I'm at AXPONA from 4/11-4/16/18, I probably won't be able to make it.

He is in Burnsville and it is a 6 hour drive from KC. It is only 50 miles further for KC guys than it is for me. You guys should work in a stop at Mason City, IA to check out @BRAD S theater.

Could probably host the KC group if you need a halfway-point "break"....

This would be a good idea if taking Friday off to travel or on the way back on Sunday. I would love to see the Savoy Theater.

Klipsch KPS-400’s FR/FL with built in 15” 300 watt side firing subs, RC-7 Center, RS-3 Surrounds.
Integra DHC-60.5, 5- Marantz MA700 Mono Blocks, Pioneer DV-F727 301 Disk DVD CD Changer, Pioneer DVL-909 Laserdisc/DVD/CD Player, Sony PS3.

I would be happy to have any of you stop by and check out my theater.

I will likely try and attend the crawl as well if there is room for me. I am about 2 hours south of Burnsville and could sure put some of you up for the night on Friday if you're interested. A Sunday stop at my theater as you are heading home would sure work as well.

desertdome is the only person to step foot in my theater whom has ever been in another home theater. I kind of feel like the HT Lone Ranger up here in north Iowa. I would welcome visitors!

Ryan (ZLTFUL) sounds like he's going and I certainly am planning on it. I've talked with you at many gatherings and I'm sure I can bribe him into stopping in Mason City. Love to see your setup. I really enjoy Draden1's Triads so I'm curious to hear yours.

Hopefully we'll get to see the KC crowd to. Although I doubt we'll have any near knife assaults around David's place .

As mentioned B and I were throwing around mid to late July as potentials for something at my place - and maybe surrounding areas/theaters? I'm hoping to have some type of outdoor oasis (including outdoor theater) pretty close to being buttoned up at that point - hoping things like permits, etc come together in the next month. Any suggestions for topics/events?
