As you post it on the boards...

Hey, we all start somewhere, nothing to be embarrassed about.

These GTG's make all of us more knowledgeable about this hobby!

I continue to learn new things even though I have been at it pretty hardcore for 20+ years.

Hi @ChldsPlay
I haven't mentioned your specific comment about the whites to anybody because I didn't want to bias an opinion. I have asked several people for feedback in general but didn't get a similar comment as yours. Archaea noticed that when I started a movie the WB logo was really washed out and quickly tracked down the issue much to my chagrin. I hadn't noticed this for who knows how long because I spend most of my time watching Netflix, TV etc.

I think you visited at the beginning of the summer so if it was an issue then, I am even more clueless than I thought. I know you are Olathe/Independence, but if you are ever close again, I would love your feedback if you see the same issue (after I double check to make sure HDR is still on).

thanks
Mark

The newest version of Dirac and my AVR aren't playing nice together, and I can't even get through a full set of measurements much less a filter design set. The levels are offset in such a way that random channels have as much as 4db gain. To make a long story short, I can't get them to be balanced properly. So my sound will be weak for the movie night. If I can get it figured out by Saturday, great, no big deal, but if not - I'm happy to let someone else host til I can get everything squared away. I'm cool with hanging out and drinking beer with you guys if you want to push through it. I mean, it's not awful, just not great.

Sorry to hear that, it has to be better then my 5.1 surround in a large unfinished basement. I think it would still be worth watching John Wick 3.

I don't ever again want to hear anyone suggest anyone else use an HTPC to avoid problems. the HTPC is almost ALWAYS the problem.

And I just bought 3 pair. I had already pre-wired the new house for 2 in the master bedroom & 4 in the rec room. I was going to get Triads (which I have in the dedicated HT), since they do a nice paint job to match any Sherwin-Williams color, but at this price, I'll paint them myself (although different colors in the two rooms). The MSRP is a bit bogus, but they are 3 times the price on Amazon or eBay.

I know in your work industry that timeliness and punctuality are of no consequence but at least in your hobby life, learn some of both of those please? Thanks.

I am due for a firmware update that is supposed to fix both of those bugs, but I always timeout because I can’t pay attention long enough

First to claim.

If you've been on the below thread or seen the Life of Bliss video... And haven't built your own yet - I have 2 from my case of 6 left if anyone would like them. Free, just ask that you pickup west of Olathe.

Here's what I'd purchased: ROXUL Mineral-Rockwool 80 Acoustic Insulation - 8Lbs 48"x24"x2"

DIY Custom-Printed Movie Poster Acoustic Panels - cheap!

After 7 is good - we can listen to music and watch some demos before the movie to give people time to trickle in on their own schedule. I’m free all night so I figured we’d fire up the flick at 8 or 9 depending on what everyone wants to do

Thanks for hosting Doug. You've got some killer setups. Probably going to cost me some coin...

Sorry I had to split early, between little family time and the wife signing us up for a 5k this morning (it's pouring rain...) I knew I'd better get home at a decent time.

I'll see about hosting a meet/greet soon myself.
