Wow! Two hours before the meet and a cancellation! I would have been really pissed giving out my info and then not even being able to attend. Sorry, I am being a jerk, but just my $.02

In their defense, it was a day or so before. They offered alternative things and said they would reschedule.

I don't know if the owner of this one is in this group, or even on AVSForum, but we NEED our next meet to be at this house.

I've seen a couple of Star Trek themed rooms on the net. I'd like to see it as well.

I know an architect who designed a beautiful dedicated addition to his home for high end audio and video reproduction.

His home is located not very far from IKEA in Houston.

I have visited his home several times over the years, and he indicated that he should be ready to host this Spring.

Let me know if you would like to attend a get together, using the same sign-up and ID criteria as the previously cancelled meetup.

Sorry for the late response - I have been busy and out of town for a few weeks. To answer your question on my new theater....sadly no! I have started demolition of a wall which I am moving about 3.5 feet to increase the width of the room from about 12.5 feet to close to 16 feet. The length is about 24 feet which I think I can maintain after removing the existing one car garage door. This will require extending the 8" high stub wall that surrounds the entire garage upon which the side and back walls are installed across the opening for the garage once the door is moved. I will then fill in the opening between the existing garage door side supports with a new wall, flush with the inside of the existing opening. I will then finish the out side of this new wall with a false wood look door. I will also be removing all of the existing dry wall, walls and ceiling. Once the ceiling is open I will be able to get a good look at the possibility of bumping the ceiling up to 10 feet, probably a 3/4 perimeter 18 - 24" coffer style leaving the front open to the full 10' height.

All of this is moving slowly as I have had a lot of outside yard work to do clearing out a lot of cedar trees and trying to get the front lawns in shape. never realized how much work an acre of land could be!

I will start a build thread once I get to a point of knowing what I will be doing - hopefully by October when it starts to cool off here in Georgetown, TX.

Hello fellow folks from Houston!

Didn't know where else to post this, but wanted to reach out to some local folks.

I am a noob... but recently bought some used gear in anticipation of our new house build - thought we were going to build a big media room and got a solid deal on some really nice gear.

House plans changed... and we won't be having the media room as we thought.

Considering my options, including selling my projector and screen.

Screen in particular is huge... so a local sale is probably my only choice?

I need to figure out model number for the screen, but it is a Stewart Cine Curve bought from Modia.. and a sony vw600es projector also bought from Modia.

If I don't sell it I will probably end up installing this in my garage!

You may want to list it in the classifieds for a wider audience but that would be an awesome garage projector! BTW, I'm also in 77019.

Hi Local Houston Folks!

I bought a killer set up thinking we were going to build a big house with a media room.

Looks like I jumped the gun... we decided to gut the little house instead and I can't fit this stuff in the new place (unless I install it in the garage with the cars!)..

I have listed the Stewart Filmscreen Cinecurve in the classifieds.

Please let me know if anyone local is keen!

(I can't post links)... it is in the display devices classifieds but here are some quick details:

gray hawk rs material
133" diagonal
Masking feature complete with BRIC
originally purchased from Modia for ~20k
Price: $6k

Houston GTG Sept 29th

Hey all,

Bringing this thread back alive. I am planning a GTG in Houston, tentatively scheduled for Sept 29th at my house which is close to Mid-Town. Let me know if you are interested, I will keep this post updated with a list to keep everyone informed. I can handle about 20 people comfortably on my 2nd level great room. It's a multipurpose room and not a dedicated HT room but it can still get loud. I am not a super technical person so any help in that area is appreciated.

All subs are certainly welcome and encouraged, I don't have any particular "shoot out" in mind unless someone wants to focus on something. Looks like Rythmik will be in attendance with an FV-18HT - paper cone driver (AWESOME!).

Keep in mind I am on a second level and anything heavy will likely need 2 people. My subs are 165lbs and we carried them up just fine........with a little effort and a beer. At the very least, I just want this to be fun!

Tentative shedule:
Mid-Late morning setup
Kick off around lunch for the fun!
Ends - Whenever!

Subs:
CAP 2400-10 (me)
FV-18HT (Rythmik)
FV-18 (Rythmik)
PSA 1801 (imureh)
DIY FTW21 (donivan)
PSA Triax (laserjock II) maybe
JTR 2018/19 (new) 118HT
Seaton JS12 (maybe)
Seaton X21AD

Todd

Coming:
@imureh , @djreef , @bgtighe23 , @Marc Alexander , @Enrico , @Rythmik , @speedoflight , @donivan , @AV-NUT-99 , @conanb , @punks123 , @Gary Bechtold , @tuan209

Maybe:
@laserjock II , @7channelfreak , @popalock , @Patzig , @Pain Infliction , @SunByrne , @modesto66 , @femi , @nandkisham

Already spoke with @Rythmik and he is OK for the 29th and we would bring a FV18HT (paper cone driver version). I'm OK too for the 29th. I'm leaving next day to Dallas for a 3 days conference, though. So the only day possible for me is actually the 29th.
